To me it's so funny how media always complains about players not having/showing personality and being hard to market but if you give them at least some kind of new/varied/interesting questions to answer somehow 90% of them open up and seem to enjoy the interview. Naw it's on the hockey culture where you're pressured to not show your individuality. Many markets/teams in other sports have way harder media than many teams/markets in the NHL and you still get athletes hwoing their personalities lol
I don't think they're allowed to based off of the broadcast rights. Like most telecommunications stuff in Canada it's divided up territorial so any content western canadian would have to be made by Rogers/Sportsnet
