Hard to be sure on the video, but your fence adjuster bolts look to be coarse thread (3/8-16 possibly). If so can you replace them with fine thread to possibly make finer adjustments? Also, if the bolts are in fact removeable, you could double nut one side (make it fixed) once its close. Then loosen the single nut and use slotted machine shims (if you can find them).

This was helpful! I'm about to finish my first set of cabinets made of walnut and like you, I prefer the brown and flat finish of the Emtech products. In the long term, what will be the difference between using or not using the sanding sealer, and will the color fade over time without UV protection?

Great video, thank you! 1. What sanding grit should I use for a desk table top made from baltic birch plywood? It's already sanded at the factory but I don't know to what grit they sanded it. 2. I understand that water popping a 150-grit-sanded-wood opens the pores to have a better molecular bond and hence make the surface more durable, but could you please explain what happens to the smoothness of the wood after water popping? Will you get as smooth a result after applying the Rubio as without water popping? In other words, are durability and smoothness opposite tradeoffs, or is the surface both durable and smooth?

Hindsight is wonderful plus I would also add that I have to agree with you on most of your reasoning. An excellent video and fair video Jason. Before I retired I ran my own tool business including INCRA, Woodpecker and Festool. I sold my INCRA router table and kept my Festool one, one of my biggest mistakes.

  • @Arational

    1) Dust extractor. The Midi works well for me. 2) Rotex RO-90. I get a lot of work restoring front doors and this tool's versatility and compact sanding head are perfect for this work. 3) ETS-125. The 2mm stroke leaves a very fine finish and it is Festool's cheapest sander. The difference between a shop vac with hepa filter and My CT-Midi is night and day. I would never go back.

It's always good to hear what others think of the stuff that I have and use, not because I necessarily agree, but because it's good to get other perspectives. I just got that same Ridgid spindle/belt sander you mention (after using and hating an older Ryobi oscillating spindle sander for years), I've used it a few times, and I absolutely love it. I also use trigger clamps all the time, but we obviously have different needs. Thanks!

The tools look good, but you could do with being a bit more succinct in your review of them. Plus it's often hard to catch the brand and tool name you mention on these videos. After you say it the first time after that you tend to say these and them a lot. Maybe just mention the names again at the end of the section. Other than that you're doing a great job of giving us good info. cheers!
