It doesn’t take a psychopath to need both metric and imperial measurements. Just go north. Here in Canada it’s not unusual to find plywood sold as 4 feet X 8 feet by 19 mm. Living next to the U.S. means wrestling with both. I won’t even go into recipes that mix Fahrenheit, Celsius, milliliters, cups, ounces, and grams. But we love you anyway.
We love you guys too. Particularly your fantastic woodworking tools. Jess'em, Veritas, and the catalog (and website) of Lee Valley. Great stuff!
I immediately ran to the comments to see if anyone else noticed he called all of us Canadians psychopaths 😂
We were supposed to go to metric when I was in elementary school. Never happened. But we keep toying with it. I wish they’d just rip off the bandage and go full metric.
Isn't 19mm just 3/4"?
Not exactly no, you will have a lip if you put both side by side
Paulk really did come up with a better design when he made his bench with a full size shelf under it. It does make it possible to store tools under the surface, and catch the fall through. The rest of the bench is specific to how he works, but even if you want the festool sized MFT, it may make sense to make the two layer bench.
Another great video with honest dialogue on tools. Even though it was an ad, mental health is no joke. I had several injuries working as a firefighter that ended my career. My wife and family stood with me as I dealt with the demons of feeling broken, a failure and not a man any longer. Lost. Found a therapist that helped me. There is nothing wrong with getting help!
Please name ALL the tools that you introduce. You leave name brand and model number and price. so… Instead of being a good instructional video, it ends up being just another man, using space on youtube to man-splain himself . As a fellow veteran, its sad to see the gonad macho mentality dominate the air in the video. Argh!!!! Nomenclature man, nomenclature!!!!!!!!!
That snap together TSO tray is the same thing as the dice trays you can grab at your local hobby store, probably for cheaper, in the event that you don't feel like ordering online or want to shop local.
Always enjoy your videos! On another note thank you for your service! I am glad you were able to get the help you needed. Stay safe!
Much appreciated
Thank you for your service to our country, Mr. Bent. And thank you for the service you now provide in Bent's Woodworking. My own retirement (one and a half years) has been richer, more fun because of your presentations.
I am happy to hear that. Thanks!
I am not a woodworker but I love to watch craftsperson show their skills. I am retired from professional management and my favorite activity was training and teaching young people in my field. You do a good job. I will subscribe to your channel. BTW, thank you for your honorable service to our nation.
There is never a disadvantage to owning quality tools. Thanks for the insight.
Hey Brother! USAF retiree/woodworker here. Thanks for your service! I have that same DeWalt router and picked up a plunge base for it and it’s even better. I really appreciate your content. Keep it up!
Thanks brother
Never seen your channel before but will be watching more. Love your description of things, way of valuing things, and good god your workshop is incredible looking
Thanks and welcome
Bought the parf mark ll guide system. Followed it to the letter, and did a 5×10 work table. From one end of the table to the other the holes were out of square by a quarter inch. Massive amount of time doing this and it was worthless ... lol. I like their dogs and such, but that was my first experience with UJK products
100% agree on the DeWalt vs the Makita trim routers. I bought the Makita before DeWalt released their version. I bought the DeWalt once I saw it had an adjustment wheel like my old Porter-Cable 690 which I always liked.
Thank you for your service!
You can make a very accurate test bar out of a piece of plywood and 3 screws. More than accurate enough for setting up tools. the means of setting it can be to mirror the surface of a known flat one like a jointer table, or a granite reference surface. However there is a way to make it accurate if you do not have a reference surface, and it is described in issue 142 of FWW, if you have a subscription. (I just remember reading it back then). Very useful for setup, or when buying machine tools of unknown quality (which is most of them at this point).
Thank you for your service sir!
Thank you for your services.
Great video. Some of this stuff I have, some I’ve been debating getting and this will move me forward, and others I was completely unaware of. I love your videos, always easy to follow and practical. I’m building my first set of wall-to-wall cabinets and bookcases and have been looking at your base leveling, drawer slide, and cabinet build videos nearly daily. Thanks so much.
Great to hear!
I have and use the Dewalt trim router and love it.
The Bessy dog hole clams with the TSO dogs are a great idea. All above the table usage. I'm a poor wood worker. I use a Kreg auto adjust clamp, with a Milescraft screw on baselock to do the same thing. The advantage is I can use this clamp system with my MFT, my Drill press ( Drilled 20mm dog hole in it), and with my DeWalt folding work stations (3/4" or 19mm) as well.
Great job of covering those tools. And THANKS !
No problem!
Great information as always - really appericate your videos! Sometimes I'm reluctant to pull the trigger on some purchases, but your detailed demos and summary of benefits you've experienced provides valuable insight for tool purchases. Thanks!
I've been using the Grabo's for a couple of years and they are very much worth the money. I'm a one person shop and they have made my life so much easier when moving sheets of plywood to my saw. However, the Rockler Material Mate Panel Cart is the second part to moving sheet goods. Use the Grabo to get the plywood to the Material Mate, then flip the MM up to slide the plywood onto the table saw. I've used the Grabo's to move stone around too when I've made walkways. Having two is even better. Great video, as usual!
Found The drill bit review! Thank You! Well done.
I've been watching the individual spots. The completed build is terrific. Well done
Jason, thank you for teaching us and your videos. Also, thank you for your service sir!
Very welcome
Great video!! Thank you!! I have a DF 500 and LOVE it (especially with the KV connectors). I have spent a fair amount of time looking at the Lamello and I really love the various connectors that they have (the Invis mx2 looks so amazing too). I would very much be interested in a video where you discuss some times when one system would be preferred over the other (basically to help me justify pulling the trigger on the Lamello :) ). Thank you for you service and being open and honest about getting help!!
Great video, as always 👍.
I love seeing the latest gadgetry that makes things easier, faster, better,
even I can’t afford them right now.
Let the Haters Hate. Lol
I can confirm that the Bessey parallel clamp extenders do work with other brands.
I have a bunch of Bremen parallel clamps from Harbor Freight and they fit just fine with Bessey Extenders.
As the saying goes. You get what you pay for.
One of my clamps already stripped in one spot.
Might have Over Cranked it?
Don’t know if Bessey's ever strip out? Never owned them.
I’m newer to woodworking so they haven't had a ton of use yet.
They do come with a lifetime warranty.
I think HF does that just to get you back in the store to buy more stuff.
I'll be eligible to retire in September 2024 😂
37 Years of Commercial Flooring installation….
I'm currently building a Workshop in my 22x25 garage.
Been working day & night on it for over a year.
Wifey startin to get a little ehem… you know…
So I promised we would finally go on a nice Vacation for our 30th Anniversary coming soon.
That got her Happy Again…
Time to buy and build more stuff in the garage. lol
Starting from just one old chop saw,
and now going
Full Blown Work Shop.
It takes a hell of alot of time and $$
I try to stretch my dollar on some items, when I can.
Sometimes you win.
Sometimes you lose.
I don't cheap out on everything though.
Thanks to learning from you and and too many others to name.
I did buy a
Sawstop 3hp
Harvey G-700 Dust Collection System
Harvey Alpha Band Saw
I Did buy my full size drill press from Harbor Freight though... lol... Works Great!
Also got (Nordfab like) Air Ducting from THE BLAST GATE COMPANY in Warren Michigan for anyone looking into Metal Snap together Ducting.
They are pretty much the same as NordFab for a Way Better Price.
I read their parts fit together with Nordfab if that says anything?
I wish I had the time to video and edit everything I have done.
A drastic change.
It’s finally all coming together.
For those who think Content Creators have it easy…
If I were to have taken the time to record and edit and post everything I have done in my shop.
I’d probably be a year behind schedule…lol
Keep up the Great Work!
Thank you for your service, sir
Much appreciated
VERY well done! Thank you !!!
Glad you liked it!
Love your content, thank you! It is great to see a good reviews of good quality tools and how those can help me to get better results.
Glad you like them!
I bought a Grabo about a year ago and it's so good at lifting 4x8 sheets of most material. I recently used it to lift a window on my car after the motor lift fried out. I just attached it to the outside of the window, and while I pressed the button on the inside the window started to go up until it closed. Of course I got lucky because the window wasn't completely down, so it still had some surface to grab on to. Great tool, you won't regret it if you get one.
Really enjoyable video Jason. Thank you for putting it together. As mentioned by another commenter, I too liked the relaxed style on this one. Thanks again. 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi from the UK. The QuickShot has been my favourite buy of 2023.
WOW! Surprise how you spilled the bean about your life....this tells me a lot about your heart....thank you so much....The stigma is not as bad as it used to be when i was younger...i got straightened out at 22 and been straight for 52 yrs now...(not bragging) again thank you!!!!!
You got yourselve a new subscriber sir. I am so pleased that I get to see a sponsor for better mental health on a channel directed to men. I sincerely hope that it might help someone to seek support to get a happier life. Thank you !
Awesome tool rundown video! I literally just bought like 4 things you recommended 😅! Thanks for making such great content!
Excellent, thank you!
I do enjoy your videos. I use them to plan my shop and finish up my tools list
Love the TSO dice tray!
+1 on Grit Automation! I’ve loved using their system
The best!
The Grabo is a game-changer. As someone that installs cast-cement fireplace mantels, these tools make stacking pieces onto one another easier, safer, and even more accurate....
I’m all for ruffling of feathers.
Excellent recommendations.
It’s fun!
Thanks for sharing some great options here. I do really wish we could all just decide to ignore people who complain about professionals using professional tools in woodworking. I don't see this as much in other hobbies that are also professions on CZcams and I'm so tired of the fact that creators have to apologize every time they bring out a domino or other pro tool.
Guess what people we all know you can do things with cheaper tools but pros don't have to if they don't want to. Their time is literally money.
Can’t make everyone happy lol
While I haven't used the Dewalt router, I cannot believe how much I've liked the Milwaukee. Their adjustment is very similar. You either have the option to drop it quickly or slowly dial it in. It's beautiful.
Love my DeWalt trim router... it has allowed me to do so much more.
I’ve always been a crown staple over brads guy too. You’re filling either way in most cases.
I've got both Fisch and Famag bits. They're both awesome. Great tips.
I bought the Lamello Zeta for the construction of an off-road c trailer (self-made GFK panels with wooden inserts) And that worked fantastically.
Such a great tool
Thanks for a great video!
You’re welcome!
I love my Lamello. It's made so many things much easier. I use the clamex connectors on face frames without glue. If I want to change the entire look of cabinets I can put a new face frame and doors on, bam, remodeled!
Great point!
I need star using mine more:) old habits….die hard
The new "casual style" is SO MUCH BETTER!! I have most of the toys you were showing and I LOVE them. Buy once and cry once. Well done sir.
Glad you enjoyed it
Jason, I've been saving up for a Fuji HVLP Sprayer for the past several months, but after you're multiple videos raving over the Graco Quick Shot you've pretty much changed my mind to save a bit longer to go for it. I you've demonstrated how easy it is to use and clean, and I love how small the grip portion is for getting inside of cabinets compared to the HVLP guns. What FF LP tips do you use for your clear finishes? Other than your videos I'm really only finding contractors on CZcams using this system for painting.
Also wanted to add that Betterley has a 2 piece Festool guide rail clamp that one part hooks to the guiderail and the mating piece hooks to a Grabo so that the Grabo will lock down to your work surface. Ordered one but hasn't arrived yet, but looks to be made out of anodized aluminum. $170.00 by itself or can be had as a kit with either Grabo model.
Amana also makes centrotec countersink drill bits similar to festool for around $50. Many more imperial sizes, some with carbide countersinks.
I bought the Grabo immediately! It'll be awesome for those 5 x 5 sheets of ply.
I’m a big believer of buy once cry once that was great content thanks for sharing some great tools
You and me both!
First class video as usual. Got to mention I have the DeWalt router plus the plunge base with a dust collector. That setup works fantastically. I have not use my big ol Bosh for a long time. The DeWalt and my router table does all my routing needs. BTW, I have the LS Positioner on my router table. Your video on yours for the table saw got me hooked.
Great video, glad you liked the Dewalt router, just bought it myself and now happy ididn't go cheap first as was reluctant I'd spent too much. Will prob try out a few of your other things too. keep informing us.
You have earned yourself another subscription! :-) Cheers from Germany!
Danke!
Im glad I am not the only person with stuff stacked on my harvey dust collector! Lol
🤣
I ordered the router from your link. I’m going to start ramping up for the season now that the temperatures are getting warmer.
Awesome!!
I bought one of those Bormax forstner bits recently because I had to power through some end grain maple, and they are everything everyone raves about. 5 seconds into the cut and I wanted a whole set. They melt through wood.
You are 💯on the router, stupid me bought a ryobi and I regret it, the first version is terrible. Dewalt has the best trim router
Great video! I think I'll grab me a set of those blade height blocks.
Also, paint that door lol
Long Bessy clamps, absolutely, game changer compared to other options. Bosch laser, check, had one for about 12 years and use it all the time still accurate. My latest favourite tool that I wish I’d bought years ago is the mains powered Dewalt 1/4 router that you have. Awsome. Soooo much better than all the others. The height adjustment is superb. It is just leaps and bounds better than anything I’ve tried before. Of the other things you mention I think the Lamello or the Graco ultimate quick shot appeal the most or a Brad point nailer, but I just don’t do enough work on the the sort of projects that require them to warrant the outlay unfortunately😢or a domino. Maybe I need to dream up the projects so I can warrant the outlay!!! 😮😂
I like the ridgid battery router because of the dust port that it comes with. Have not had an issue with it.
The Zeta P2 is a game changer. Goodbye to clamps during case construction.
For the lazer measurer, the new Bosch green laser is the best. The glm 50 blaze is great but it measures everything to the 32nd but only has 1/16 accuracy, The new green laser one you can set the reading to go no further down than a 16th. It's a pain to be converting 17/32 in your head while you are measuring a job. Green laser levels by Huepar are 1/2 the cost of the Bosch one you showed.
That grabo seems to be a missed opportunity. It could be formatted so that it could be easily gripped in a vise to hold things you need to work on. I use vac chucks to hold guitar parts, but this could work out of the box for people who bought it for other things if they had a way to hold it.
And the Festool counter sink bits and hinge bits are amazing! Tell Sedge to get the CE-Sort installer set stateside. Not the cheap little blue case from last year either. 576804 (don’t ask what I paid to get it here…) 😂😂
What a great video! I almost never comment, but this was just an amazing overview of so many neat things
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good intel!!
Thanks!
I have two Grabos, they are awesome.
Thanks!
Thank you!
I have watched several of your videos. I always like them, but we don't build the same stuff. Well, to be honest I'm a hobbyist. But doggone it I really found this video to be helpful. Thanks.
I love tools. Some of them I don’t need, but buy them anyway😂
Interesting note about the Makita router. I would have gone to that one due to the battery platform I already have. I also remember being a bit peeved about the play gun not having Makita battery pack. Well, that's now two tools potentially worthy a second battery platform....
Forget all of those setup blocks and get JessEm's Tool Setting Gauge. More adjustment, smaller footprint for storage and works for height, depth and even on it's side. All in one tool.
Absolutely agree Dewalt over Makita router.
Also plunge base. Depth adjust on them is terrible.
Glad you mentioned the Dewalt Cordless router. I’ve been thinking about getting a cordless. I have several routers. But I generally have one router doing one task…. And then I have to keep replacing the bit to do another. And back and forth with my trim router. And….adjustment on my colt is crazy. I already have some Dewalt drills and batteries. So i wouldn’t need to get different batteries.
I got the reamer tool another time you suggested it. I don’t use it often. But SOOO glad I have it. It was worth it.
Lots of good stuff. I’m still really hoping that one day I’ll be able to get that sprayer.
The dewalt router is so great. Both corded and cordless.
I just used your link and got the Dewalt cordless router. I recently bought the Festool OF 1400. So I’m set on corded routers. LOVE IT!!!
Did you see that TSO is having a sale through tomorrow? Looking at some of the items you listed now.
@@AngieWilliamsDesigns that’s awesome! Thank you. And yes they are running a sale through Monday so now is a good time to buy anything
enjoy your videos every day
Thanks
I thought it was because of living next to Canada that I have 4’ X 8’ X 19mm plywood here in the states…
Jason, great video and some real good ideas. After watching your Graco Ultra QuickShot video I bought one to refinish all the doors and trim in my house. Terrific recommendation!!
Yours looks so clean, how do you clean off any overspray, or am I doing something wrong?
Great stuff! I added several items to my "wish list." Thank you for your service. I spent 25 years in the USAF.
Thank you for your service!
Famag Forster bits, as we say in the UK are the dogs bolllocks...translation...very very good 😅 i can reccomend the bosch pro 12v cordless drill, comes in a kit with interchangeable heads for getting into tight spaces.
Hey Jason - Great video! Thanks for sharing your favorites. I do have a question for you. With all of the tool options you showed, I am curious as to what brand of dead blow hammer you use. The one I had spit along the seam and I am looking for a new one. Can you share what brand you use (if you like it) and what weight you like? Thanks so much!
I do have to say for drill bits wood owl ultra smooth augur are also very nice bits they are my go to for somethings the have a tripple flute and are kinda like a mix between a brad point and a normal augur bit
Like the name implies they make a ultra smooth hole.
FAMAG drills bits of all kinds are of great quality.
Hard to find something better for woodworking.
Definitely worth the money.
Can that suction tool work on plasterboard (drywall) sheets, or are they too porous? I sometimes grab the dense pink fire boards and they are NOT light … would be amazing
1st! thank you for your service. My Son was in and got out also.
The Milwaukee 2749 cordless narrow staple gun work amazing never give me any trouble, unless you want much lighter weight, but I don’t have space for a compressor ☹️
The Milwaukee guns are great!
I starting watching your content lately and I really like it, keep up the good work! @@bentswoodworking
I like the makita trim router much better personally. Better balance, smaller, batteries are much better and last much longer, has soft start, etc. I can live with the adjustment on the makita for all the other benefits.
I bought some cheap win 18 ga pin nailer for 16 bucks. I did not expect much and it was going to be just to get by and get a nicer name brand later. 1000's+ nails later I still have it plus a 16 and a T50 stapler. So I might try one of the staplers but it will be my bullet proof wen. I honestly love their nailers and dremel. But I should of not pushed my luck ang bought the miter saw. Nope sticking with dewalt or metabo on the bigger stuff. But I challenge to try a wen nailer. Mine are the older blue and yellow ones. Dirt cheap
The Collapsible Small Parts Tray is a dice tray... they are out there for a lot less. Although this is an interesting use of one.
Valuable video
Glad you think so
Love it.
I have to ask, why do you have 4 track saws on the back wall? I can understand multiple drill drivers for cabinet installation, but 4?
you ought to try the freud forstner bits
Would that Graco sprayer work for house paint?
Every machinist ever will agree with gauge blocks/setup blocks.
They are magical creatures.
Just make sure you don't order Jo blocks 😂
