Welcome to the GT Woodshop.
GT stands for Graham and Tina my Very understanding wife.
I've been addicted to making 'Stuff' out of wood (and tools) since I was a teenager.
I love to see the grain reveal itself and take on a new life in the piece I'm working on, its magical.
I hope to be able to share some of that magic with you on this channel.
I'll cover tools reviews, product reviews, 'how to' and how not to amongst other things.
This could be quite the little journey, I hope you'll join me and have fun and maybe even learn a little something along the way.

How to make Shot Glass Holders from offcuts / scraps
Clear out time once again, this time I'm making Cheese Boards / Cake Stands and Shot Glass Holders / Servers.
Part 2:
IS all about making the Shot Glass holders to sell at our up coming craft fairs, they were popular last year so I thought I'd make some more.
Part 1:
A local shop owner approached me and asked if I could make some Cake / Chese stands for the weddings Cheese cakes they supply, so I made some up for the order, single species, Oak, Maple, Purple Heart and Iroko.
This multicoloured batch is from left overs.

I don’t know how I missed this video to watch first guess CZcams didn’t forward it to me because I’ve been subscribed for about a couple years love your channel high five from across the pond Mr. Graham! Anyway fantastic video thanks for sharing! They are stunning !
Thanks so much for sharing Mr. Graham another wonderful video!
Are those Irwin maples chisel?
Great job they turned out great
Love this, the swathe of colours is awesome
I don’t have a CNC, but I’m going to watch anyway 😊
Thank you. 👍👍
Finally a different idea for clamps storage 👍
its remarkable how good of a finish you cut cutting that hardwood on the end grain. Can you share your feeds and speeds as well as which bit you were using? I have not had that much success on end grand cuts on hardwood.
I'll pin them as a comment for you.
Another great video - such a wealth of information in all of your videos - thanks so much for sharing 👍
Another excellent video and am going to have a go omn my CNC - QQ -do you pop the grain before adding mineral oil or doesnt it need it
I always to damp if I an get in the small areas to sand. 👍
Nice video Sir. But i need to know how to change tools after roughing to finishing, is that the machine should stop by ourselves or the machine stop automaticly when transition to finishing?
Thank you, When you change the tool / bit you have to reset work zero (X,Y,Z), then you can run the finishing pass.
@@GTWoodshop Oh so when the project have 3 layer/or tools/style cut that we use, we have to change after one of them and set to zero. After one layer or just roughing, we have to stop the cnc machine or automatic stop?
Its $500 now with a month wait because its on back order.
Wow. 😢😢

Hi, Plans and 3d parts are on my ETSY store address is: www.etsy.com/uk/shop/GTWoodShopCreations?ref=shop_sugg_market. Thank you. 👍
Beautiful work mate! That hammer is an awesome machine
Great video! Seems like some people have been unlucky with the Hammer line, but it seems like Felder is really trying to address those. One of my motors was making a scratching noise and it turned out to just be a clamp ring that wasn't tight enough. A Felder guy drove over 500km, one way, to me and fixed it for free.
🙈 *Promosm*
Beautiful works, thank you a lot!
Outstanding design! Just purchased the plans and 3d parts, can’t wait to build and use!! 👏👏👏
I think you asked Felder before, where the planer was made and they said Austria. I would bet that you do not get the same reply if you asked where the bandsaw is made.
This makes my 7 routers feel justified! :)
Looking into making money from cnc carving just now. When considering making time of 5 hours machine time band then 1 hour for yourself. If say £60 per hour cost, then that comes to £360, then allow £40 for the material and artwork. That makes the real wholesale cost around £400, retail cost should be double that... I guess you won't be charging that?
How did you come to the £60 per hour figure?
Why are you charging for machine time?
@@kellypurdue1990 Just google cnc machine time costs, comes to 50-100 per hour, that's depended on machine overheads running costs, probably includes labour, set up, maintenance etc. That's the commercial rate that companies need to charge to justify the machine. In house you might be able to reduce those costs. However also consider one comment I came across when reading some forums on making a living from wood turning and one post caught my eye from an experienced woodturner, 'if any wood worker wants to make a living off their work they need to charge $1 per minute for their time of making.' CNC might be different might charge of size of or and time to make. If a chair takes all day to make, there is no sense in selling it for £50 even £100.
@@JohnGauntSega32 Looking into trying to justify the cost of a cnc machine, they are hugely expensive machines. Would you charge for size of work or some other factor? If its done for the love of making, then next to given away, then it's hobby.
Hi Graham, that was a very informative video, I learnt a lot thanks. Can you tell me why you put a front on the drawers? Could you not have just used the front of the original box as the front and thereby saving you having to cut a 2nd front and route the handle again? I realise you would have seen the end grain of the plywood box but could you have instead cut the dominos in to the back of the original front piece to hide that end grain? Hope that makes sense!
Hi Mazdaq, the answer is yes you could. The beaty of woorking with wood, its your choice so you can do it your way. 👍👍
That's what I wondered about, how to not put an awful hole in the center of the piece. Inspiratiounal. OK, you spell it. Second visit: this is very good, with detailed descriptions of what to do to make this work.
I think the RAS is good for framing construction and larger wood, compound miter saws for trim work. A 2x12 can't be cut on a compound sliding miter saw very efficiently.
Excellent video. Ask Felder if all of the Felder and Format machines have always been made in Austria. I bet you get a different answer. You could also ask if any of them are “badged” and in fact made by somebody else.
I'm still "on the fence" about this incra system....
So ... rutlands just rebadges the exact same hardware you can find on banggood, and they charge 4 or 5x the cost for them. Got it.
For the life of me, I cannot understand why he did not employ a competent electrician to tackle this job. He could easily have blown up some expensive components or worse still had an accident.
The reason the condensers are located where they are is because it is the cheapest option. If you pay a cheap price for a machine which he has done, buying a Hammer , you get what you pay for.
If you buy a machine like this at less than half the price of the mainstream manufacturers like SCM in Italy, you have to expect lower quality. As for the four day lead time, Felder aim at the DIY and lower part of the market rather than high production. It would probably have been next day from SCM as their high production customers will not accept that level of service.
I just bought a 10" Craftsman RAS for $50. I'm making a new table for it out of pine boards that I'm gluing together just because I can. I started thinking about them for about a year before I bought mine and just couldn't see the big thrash about how dangerous they are. I think they're safer than a table saw.
Great review which answered my question perfectly👍
Hi Graham, what were the prices like in comparison to the online sellers in your previous video? I live north Leicestershire so not too far from Duffield so if the price is right I may have finally found my hardwood supplier!
IMO very good, the small ends in the craft shop were a little high, but you are paying an amount for availabilty etc.
I like the way you take time it’s nice work and safe
New subscriber here. Great stuff! Love the dialogue and the presentation in general. I will do some video binging on your channel. Also, it appears that you have a very enjoyable time in your shop...especially while spreading glue!
😁😁
Wow it’s almost as big as your shop! It’s the Cadillac of over arm. I don’t want to buy anything that is more expensive than my table saw. Great review…
7:09 Why not use the router in plunge mode for this job. The wider base is more stable.
Personal preference, I prefee the smaller base.
If the saw dust is getting on top of the table due to the blade not tracking straight, then adding collection holes only solves the problem when slicing tiny trimming cuts off the board. 98% of the time the holes are covered in normal ripping cuts. I don't really see the point in adding the holes.
I didn't mention the blade not tracking true.
@@GTWoodshop I did.
Hi Graham, I was admiring the zero clearance fence on your Kapex at 8:39. Do you have plans or a link?
Hopefully coming soon as plans with and without 3d prints.
Cool. I got a 3D printer at the end of last year and have found it really useful in the workshop.
Great video. I am getting a new K3 winner next week. I was considering the shark for my setup. Great ideas for my build in your video. How important was screwing it down the floor in your opinion (I would like to keep my set up mobile)? Also, I was suprised to see that you replaced the hammer fence for an incra fence - can you talk about that at all?
I haven't yet bolted in down, I still don't feel the need. As for the fence, it's basic at best, I have since put the basic fence back on give it a chance, but it will most probably be coming off again as the Incra is just superb.
Great video. I think you mean Hertz not Giga Hertz. Did you mount silencer outside. I assume it is stainless steel, so not affected by the weather.
Too busy to edit this or add a note. It has been pointed out several times you glued the wrong channel. But you were wise enough earlier to point out cutting extra channels. So WTF , why the faker attitude. Fix it or edit it. You know you care.
Hi Jonny, its a mistake, it happened, I'm not going to try and cover it up, cause I'm not perfect, just human. 👍
Importing Exotic timber is now a nightmare. We were part of a single market that was giving economic stability. Not perfect sure but stable and solid. An importer now has apply for a CITES permit through APHA. I had the misfortune to deal with them for a small order from the EU. The amount of documentation needed for such a simple task is unbelievable. APHA response takes more than 30 days. If something is not right you need to add another 30 days for an update. In the meantime Border Force may seize the goods. Then you need to apply for a Notice 12A. Border Force is understaffed and lead time is 4 to 5 weeks. So if you are lucky you may get your order after 8/9 weeks. It is too complicated for such small interest in the UK for Exotic Woods.
Nice job! How did you know I grabbed a cup of coffee and sat down in my chair?
I could smell the coffee
Great fun. New tool alert is a glue-gun? Or maybe pyography
Coming soon. 👍
Good looking result. Only thing I find odd is using a 3d printer to make the boxes. They are great machines, but why would anyone use one to make a simple rectangular box, that would be easy in some other material, like oh um Wood. lol. Or even buy ready made mass produced plastic ones.
Because I could. 👍
I like the tool teaser. Well done. Did I also see an electric guitar template? Are you a luthier too? Are there no limits to your talent?
🤣
