CArly, DOm & HAnk make up the crew of Cadoha. We're challenging ourselves to a new life on the water, exploring and showing off some of the best-kept secrets along our home shores. We're slowly building out our blue water sailing boat to be a comfortable liveaboard boat, capable of expended periods of time off of the grid, with a mix of modern technology and old.
Follow our adventures as we learn to find, forage and catch our own food, whilst learning to sail our floating home to so many stunning destinations. We make friends all along the coastline, who we learn and grow from, in our quest for ultimate freedom!
The world has never felt so fragile to us as it has these past couple of years, so come and join us as we prepare this vessel and ourselves to be ready for anything!

Laborious (hard work but satisfying)
Howdy!
Looks amazing Don! Must have been hard graft to get it looking that good, she’s certainly a well build yacht! Hope your family are all doing well
@CadohaAdventures *_ How's Carly, Baby & Hank doing ... we need a clip of them soon _*
Crikey, you make it look quick, but that is a LOT of work. Well done!!
Interesting video thank for sharing all the best and keep the videos rolling 👍
CZcams should limit how much time a CZcamsr is allowed to point the camera at their own face. I did not see any of the restoration process. But I sure saw this guy's face a ton. Wow. Me me me me me! "Do not recommend channel". This is not a pod cast, it is a fix it video, we didn't see any fix-it stuff. If you like boat projects I recommend 'My First Boat". I do not know that guy, this is just raw appreciation for a true content provider. He shows what he's fixing, not his face. He fixes a thing and has voice-over the video explaining it. He does not point the camera at his face and describe what he will do, we actually get to see him do it.
‘CZcams should limit how much time a person can film their own face’?! That sounds like the kind of authoritarianism which would make Mao blush 😳
@@CadohaAdventures I was being facetious. It is horrible to watch these kids' point the camera at their face for minutes at a time. It is bad form and very self-centered. Usually, it happens after a content provider runs out of content. They'll start doing Q&A's. Thats when I stop watching. Go make a podcast. It is sad to see kids think that being famous, via some algorithm is a lofty goal, or a goal at all. We ruined these kids, for money.
Hi we (actually a good friend who has the gift of ‘focus’ sorted our teak deck with a mild sanding and cutting the caulking back to level. It is similar to yours with deep teak and was definitely worth the minor loss of the surface layer of teak! Looking good on your deck too!! Great positive film as ever!! Thanks
What I wouldn’t give to have pockets deep enough to pay someone else to do all this sanding and caulk removal 😂 I should have tried harder in school 😬
I require fuel injector pipes from the pump to the injectors Do you know who makes these any more. Thanks in advance
I don’t know exactly, but if it was me then I’d try a company called ‘parts for engines’ that’s where I tend to get all my bits from. Hope that helps 😌🙏🏼
Shouldn't the episode be corking Cadoha, just joking just loving your episodes
Just wanted to bring everyone up to speed with what’s been going on behind the scenes.
Well, I for one am very impressed with Willet Marine, their knowledge and their attention to detail! Not sure I could cope with the prospect of having to remove and then replacing the caulking yet it is undoubtedly the right thing to do! Plus all the sanding and, I suspect, application of some sort of coating - oil, wax, varnish, synthetic goop etc As always: admirable video! Health and happiness to the Admiral and her cabin boy
It’s a great environment to be in. So many brains to pick on so many boat related subjects, it’s a real privilege to be in here with so many highly skilled craftsman 😌🙏🏼
😎
👌🏼😌
I’m guessing that was a few weeks work shown in 8 mins - but the results are spectacular. Good job mate.
@@PitStopCrew yes indeed. It’s a job that I massively underestimated time wise and it’s one that’s expanded from ‘a few localised areas of the deck’ to essentially the entire thing now 😂 Old boats, it’s a kind of self harm interspersed with moments of pure joy 😬😌
Great film as usual. Hope you are all well and progressing as you should. Strange how life is, just yesterday I watched a teak deck video as I’m considering redoing the calking. And there you are with your video. Over the years did you know your vocabulary is changing and you start to sound expert - very cool.
I would always hasten to call myself an expert in anything, other than perhaps pyjama wrestling, ha ha, but even then, with each year that passes in my life, the less certain I seem to feel about most subjects, even the ones where people look to me for answers on, in fact especially them. The family is all looking much better now, thank you for asking. Carly and the baby are doing well, although Carly is exhausted, but for all the right reasons, we couldn’t be happier in life right now. Feeling blessed. I hope things are good with you too? 😌🙏🏼
Hi, there is a special tool that rake out the caulking just looks like a 90° flat screwdriver. Anyway you’ll work it out. Just me telling you what to do. Most people don’t listen anyway LOL if you don’t get it all out you can cause issues
Yes we have one. Getting the majority of the caulking out doesn’t seem to be the tough bit, but that last 5%? Man that’s a pain in the bum 😬
Great job Dom, but it just reinforces my desire to never have a teak deck
You’re officially preaching to the choir with that sentiment. It looks truly amazing for a while, but this will almost certainly be the first and last boat we have with it 😂
Hi , it is making a lot of difference , SPIFFEY as others might say , regards to your family and hope every one is making head way .
👍🦘
Crackin job! Felt your pain... I've spent many of hours in what I call, the troll hole! Be worth it in the end when you're back in the wet stuff
OPEN HATCH !!!!! I recommend you make temp plugs/covers for all open hatches. I cant tell you how many people I have seen fall or nearly fall down a hatch. ( Myself included)
Been there, done that !….fractured an ankle and walked on it for 2 weeks as too afraid to go into a hospital during covid…😮
Nice job. I built Yachts for 15+ years. i was the TDS (Teak deck system) crew lead for a few of the years and you can buy or make a hot-knife with a squared tip and easily cut the rubber out. another more manual but simple way is to start by cutting the edges free all the way down to the sole, and sometimes at a 45 degree from both sides, and then with a 1/4 inch chisel scrape the rubber off the sole. using a 3/16 inch sanding block, sand the teak edges and the sole down to fresh clean dry substrate. Vacuum, and lastly Acetone or MEK wipe. One thing is you never do a color restore sand job until you have the joints refilled. which leads me to the caulking of the deck, after the solvent wipe, mask each and every joint ensuring all edges are tight and sealed. Use a pneumatic or power caulk gun and do a section that you can tool smooth before it skins over. I use a plastic spreader with a 5/16 or so half circle gouge removed. (the grove should just barely be wider than the joints). when the joint is filled, taking care not to cause more work by spreading it all over the teak, strike the joints with the tool by keeping the groove at a slight angle pulling the tool through the TDS. when and only when it is dry all the way to the sole you can then unmask and sand down to the fresh teak. I use a floor sander with 80 grit, then 120. I hand sand with a DA down to 220grit. now you have a beautiful new Teak deck! Idc if this gets read or not. It was a nice trip down memory lane. if someone gained anything from it even better! and if you read it all. CHEERS!
Wow. What a great skill set to have. And no doubt a fine feeling of accomplishment after you overhauled a teak deck in need of repair. That said, as gorgeous as a teak deck can look, I'd never buy a boat that had one, just because of all that work involved...you know, 'cos there's nothing else on a sailboat that needs work 😂
Is that a Warrior 38? did you not have wet core decks like Mads from Sailife? i'm just wondering with the leaky teaky if the core is actually ok or not?! It looks good sanded though👌
No, we did worry about that after watching Mads videos but we did a whole bunch of core samples and they all came back good.
@@CadohaAdventures looking closely i cannot see any plugs in the teak so you were lucky they didn't screw it, that's rare for that era just to stick it down! fyi there is a special hook tool that pulls the corking out you may already be aware? I have a 2001 Jeanneau 45.2 and it has a Balsa Deck and i am so glad mine didn't get the optional teak because others have rotten core, my deck is dry:) I don't have to worry about the hull that's solid glass with foam core in the top sides, its just the deck they used balsa for some reason? i have to be careful of any penetrations that they are sealed or cracks that develop.
Don't you just love boat yoga? 🙃 😂❤ The deck is looking spiffy! Awesome job! ⛵️👏
PS...watched your video first and now catching up on the England game whilst on a mooring in Norway 🇳🇴 ⛵️
Ha ha, yes, I'm just happy I can still twist and contort enough to get into these places ☺️🙏🏻
She's already looking amazing Dom, can't wait for part 2. By the by, I don't think anyone triggered by a claustrophobic lazarette should be watching boaty CZcams. Hope the family are thriving :)
She's looking better, for sure, but still a long ways to go to looking dapper 😬
Can't beat a fresh teak deck. Hello from Bitterne Park.
I will enjoy every moment of looking at it, until it goes grey again and then I am never doing it again 🤣
I just used to use dishwashing liquid and a scrubbing brush and a hose when my teak deck went grey used to come up that beautiful
Fantastic, thanks for sharing.
My pleasure, thanks for stopping by ☺️
I’d love a tour of that Oyster
I think that could be arranged ☺️
Huge amount of work. Huge amount of patience. 🎉
Yes, I certainly underestimated just how much needed to be done to do it properly 🥹
Beautiful!
Thanks, it's slowly getting there 🙏🏻☺️

Can't wait to see the end product. I'll bet it's going to look fabulous.
I certainly hope it looks good when it's done. It's been a painfully long job so far 😅
HELLO Dominic
Hello to you too 👋🏻☺️

Felt your pain in that locker - good to make sure it can’t fall down - a guy got locked in his by the catches when the wind blew it. Luckily he was on the hard at Ridge and someone heard him shouting! Imagine being stuck in that space you were in!
You know I never even thought about that?! Luckily I had lots of people around me and a phone, but I can certainly imagine that being super problematic in more remote places!! 🥹
@@CadohaAdventures yep I always keep a phone in my pocket since hearing about his near plight! You’re doing a great job Dom! 👍😎
Great to see you guys posting again! All the best for you and the family! Looking forward to seeing you guys back on the water catching some lobsters again!
Thank you, we can't wait to get all this work done too and get back out on some adventures. Thanks for taking the time to say hi ☺️🙏🏻
Dom I hope you are getting some sleep, how is Carly and the little one, is Hank happy to have a little brother....good to have you back, hopefully back on the sea soon too
I think I'm managing more sleep than Carly, but compared to where we started, the sleep deprivation we're experiencing now is a much happier place to be and we're enjoying this new and unfolding adventure ☺️🙏🏻
Bloody hell lad! The England game is on
Ah, ha ha, I just wanted to see how loyal our English fans are 🤣 "England, England, England" 🏴🏴🏴 😬😇
I used to live on a Scottish island and ive had boats from about 10 years old and now almost 60 so about 50 years, boating can be like standing in the shower with your cloths on tearing up £20 notes haha.
would you recommend living on the atlantic or pacific side of US? ....I'm having a Captain Ron moment.
Thank you for sharing💜 that was very brave of ya. Looking forward watching ya alil man grow into a sailor
An expensive first-class marina and a live aboard sailboat make a good combination.
You never really said what happened to the baby and why it had to be rushed. Which is fine, as this is your life and your decision whether to say publicly or not. Just saying. Not that it really matters as I am just some random person that happened to have stumbled across your video and am not even a subscriber. Anyway, it was a very heart felt video and I can not even imagine being in your place. Other than the lack of what precisely happened, it was a very enjoyable and emotional video and you told it very well. I could almost envision the story. The important things are it is your life to live, it appears things are going well and I wish you all the best in the future.
Wishing all three of you the very best fortune in the months ahead, I can only begin to imagine the worries and concerns you have over your little man (no matter how positively you are tackling this). On the diesel heater - good catch. Always a good idea to clean and service the heater in the summer months.😉 The external sooty deposits should be viewed with concern as that is synonymous with carbon monoxide - have you got a functioning detector nearby? Best wishes.😀👍⛵️
Well done Dom, it's remarkable what a little regular Preventative Maintenance will do...
I don't need a lot of convincing, since the idea of living on a sailboat sounds idiotic to me.
Mate you won’t remember this but we bumped into you on Mylor beach when you were dog walking… I think I introduced you to my now 10 year old twins… so, they were born a couple of months early with a low birth weight but are now strapping tall and well… parenthood is hardwork and stressful… I sometimes wonder if I have PTSD from their early birth but I’m so proud to be called Daddy. They grow up so quick so do enjoy your time together!
Hi guys what is that dive system you had?
