Today we anchor our sailing boat ready for a storm, with lots of rain and gale force winds in an anchorage that's new to us.
If you want to check out our anchorages guide then you can do so here, I'd totally free and we hope it's of some use to you all, just our way of trying to give something back to what has been the most supportive community of people. www.cadoha.com/britishanchorages
Those special moments with parents that we don't appreciate until we are all older...and wish we had more. ❤❤❤❤
I'm glad I'm realising it now before it's too late ☺️🙏🏻
The “container ship” s an LPG carrier, although personally I prefer the ‘Cornish Ice Cream carrier’ suggestion, moving ice cream to London 😂
Darn! I was hoping it was an extra large banana split. 🙂
Yep, LPG carrier. Needs a massive Flake sticking out of each to complete the look!
@@harbourdogNL 🤣
This is LNG Sakura. A new build Moss type LNG tanker. LNG. Liquified Natural Gas. Not an LPG tanker. The clue is in the name ;)
It's should always be a cherish time when you get to spend time with family, especially parents. Mine are in their 70s and we all know we are on limited time. That looked like an awesome lobster meal.
You're so right. It was a great meal and I too am acutely of the borrowed time we're playing with in this little life now 🙏🏻
Yeah, Dom . . my old man shuffled off this mortal coil on 15th January this year - and my Mum is in dementia care. Your treasured moments with your folks are epic! I love the look on your Dad's face as the lobster hits home - pure delight - excellent! Good job, again, Cadoha
It is not a container ship, it is an LNG Tanker.
Heck of a ship to come across during your honeymoon cruise, eh? ¬) Looks like the containers are full of liquid natural gas based upon the level the ship is riding in the water. You must be in a shipping channel to let such a large ship get so close to you. Do you have AIS? If so, you'd be able to identify the ship, potential collision course, and what in general the ship hauls. What his also interesting is that there appears to be two aft superstructures - I wonder why ? :¬) Webhead USA
I agree, the boats with the big boobies (vague childish reference to a famous line in BBC WW2 sitcom Allo Allo) checking AIS would have answered that at the time ..... they are a common sight in my home port
Yep - good old Liquified Natural Gas transport vessel.
Agree lng tanker
I looked it up - it is the LNG Sakura and seems to run between Rotterdam and Freeport, Texas, USA.
There's loads of info online about it
As always enjoyed the episode. Spending memorable times with family is truly an amazing thing. Safe sailing ⛵️
Nice anchoring even better getting to see your parents good memories last a life time my friend
Great episode. Looked like a wonderful sail across Lime Bay and loved the expression on Dom’s Dad’s face as he tucked in 😂
And a *lovely* story about the lobster on the beech. What a special moment to have with you for the rest of your life ❤
The container ship is used to bring giant scoops of ice cream from one side of the Atlantic to the other, that is why it looks like that, or it transports liquid gas. 😎
Ice cream
🍦
Fabulous video which ended on a beautiful moment in time. Your channel is better than anything on TV/streaming services.
Now, that's an awesome couple of days and super fresh seafood tops it off beautifully. 😊
Great moment with Mom and Dad !!u
Good to see you guys survived the storm well 👏🏻
Great episode, Carlotta is now up the Fal near Truro, stunning anchorage amazing protection. We loved the Scillies and followed your anchorage guide which was fantastic, thank you and well done. Hope to cross paths this season.
Amazing ☺️
Just the thought that we've possibly made something that may be of some actual use to others really makes its all feel worth while. That's really made us smile.
Here's to crossing paths and swapping some war stories over a rum 🍹
I cracked the broadest of grins when I saw your pa chowing down. As you'd said - precious moment. Thanks for all your videos.
Dom you looked exhausted after that anchor watch!
I was pretty tired by the end of it to be honest. Which is odd because I often stay up really late editing videos when Carly and Hank are asleep.
As others have said, the ship you pointed out is an LNG tanker. The bumps on the deck are just blisters to make enough space within the hull for the actual tanks, which are usually completely spherical.
Lovely part of the country down there, that's for sure.
4x scope? That’s a min. For bad weather, 7 or more times. As a friend who has been in the business all his life said to me, “Chain in the locker isn’t doing you any good”, so better to get it out and on the bottom and hold fast. And put Anchor Pro on your phone. It’s free. Basically, you start the app, drive up to where you’re going to drop the hook and press the button as you drop the anchor, then lay back. You can tell it alarm distances and angle/arc from the anchor (in case you swing in a direction you don’t want to) and save running the chart plotter all night. It also records your track and so you can see your pattern of swinging, and if you drag, you can see that swing arc move back, then maybe again if you drag some more. And if you go out of the bounds you set, the alarm goes off. Not bad for free 🙂
‘Chain in the locker is chain wasted’ - subject to swinging constraints.
Guess I'm really conservative. I START with 7:1 scope and if there's any hint of bad weather (and you just know it's going to be at 2 AM!) I put out 10:1. Takes a few extra minutes to haul in the chain in the morning, but I sleep well at night. I generally anchor in 10' to 20' of water and choose areas away from other boats with plenty of swinging room.
What a highlight to have your parents there! Another wonderful episode, I like to watch them when I want to relax!
It was an absolute treat and I'm so glad he got to see some of the places we enjoy in real life ☺️🙏🏻
Hi. We have only just found your channel... can feel a binge watch coming on from our inland waterways narrowboat 😅 what a lovely video 😊
Well done guys, yeah, cherish them vids of yer dad and mum buddy👏👏👏👏
We will!☺️🙏🏻
Love watching yer nice vlogs. Just been on a 4 day race/cruise across the Algarve. Maybe someday you guys will get down here fer a couple beers👍
Good simple food , and good company always goes down well 😃🍻 , red light bulb for the fridge ? , or is that the final symptom of a mad sea dog 🤣
Awesome vist with your parents!
We bumped into you at Portland (we said hello to Hank) the day before you set out for your crossing of Lyme Bay. Great vlog. If you like Brixham, you will love Newlyn in Cornwall. A proper working port and fantastic seafood.
We have been there once, amazing place, although it's tricky with Hank as they don't let dogs into the marina at all.
The LNG conveyer was a curiosity - the UK has 3 LNG terminals: one at the Isle of Grain, Rochester and two near Milford Haven. I wonder where 'your' conveyor was going, and where it came from. When the Nord Stream gas supply blew up in the Baltic a lot of Europe would have liked to have got gas from LNG but they don't have any (many?) facilities to convert LNG to gas so were reliant on the UK to some extent. But these 3 plants operate at capacity anyway, for our needs.
Maybe with everything that's going on in the world we're starting to stockpile, just in case? 🤷🏼
The audio quality is simply perfect, crip, clear and sweet, loved the lobster music. Theres nothing better, than being able to share the things that make u happy, with the ones u love, I get that real fuzzy warm thingy. Hank looked so handsome in his red wet weather coat.🐶🐾Thanks Dom, Carly and Hank for another top episode 🤪🌈🇦🇺🇬🇧
Thank you, glad you enjoy the vlogs ☺️🙏🏻
Great video guys as always especially with papa bear ❤
Yes cherish that moment, cause the years speed by with greater velocity with each decade.....thanks again for a great viseo
Awesome episode as always. What a great pleasure having dinner with your parents. I would love to be able to experience that again with mine.
Its a LNG tanker, give a nice wide berth. keep making these videos. all the best for you, stay safe
Hi, another great video and through the storm , your all ok . Great to see your Mum and Dad eating your catch on the beach , have fun and thanks for the video .❤👍👍👍
The tanker is LNG or LPG - gas coming in from the middle east or Asia. We cant frack our own so we have to pay someone else and have a massive carbon footprint from the shipping...... great video - those two anchorages look fab. just the sort of place i'd want to frequent.
Love it. Enjoy x
Nice mate to see you catch up with the olds. No doubt they both will cherich that day too.👍 Just wondering if you ever thought about placing a long lasting Battery powered lamp on shore, plot it, and use it as a reference point during the night/storm?? Maybe thats just plain stupid? I dunno. Anyways thanks for another enjoyable episode. Stay safe.💪
It is indeed an LNG tanker, probably picking up a channel pilot from Brixham for the passage to Rotterdam. I believe pilotage is compulsory for laden LNG carriers and Brixham is the usual boarding place.
Wonderful
Awesome!
Emotional beach meal🙏🏽
It was something I always hoped to be able to do one day, but deep down I didn't think it would ever happen now, so it really meant a lot. In the past my parents always took me to new and interesting places and introduced me to the local cuisines all around the world, so this was my giving back, at least a little bit ☺️🙏🏻🦞
@@CadohaAdventures lost my brother in March. Hadn't seen him since my marriage in 2015. Missed opportunities😘🙏🏽
@@MikePaton-Williams-yv9qo Ah mate, I'm sorry to hear that ☹

Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) tanker - very cool :)
It sounds like a big deal because it is 🙏
That's becoming more and more apparent every year. ☺️🙏🏻
This was amazing, I didnt know your channel.
If there are Captain's Quarters then Crew should be on deck eating gruel sleeping and getting a hair cut😄
Great white sharks love seals, be aware while down below hunting for dinner
As do Mako sharks and I imagine even a large Porbeagle shark would too?
This was the weekend of the Fastnet start. It was pretty crappy out in the channel. Very rough and wet. I would have loved to have been tucked up in that anchorage. But instead I was pulling 4 hour stints on the helm as it was too difficult for the rest of the screw in the rough weather.
Maybe next season😅
LNG (Liquefied natural gas) tanker, which carry natural gas not a LPG tanker which carry mainly propane, butane etc.
@1:20 i believe that ship is a LNG(liquified natural gas) carrier.
McDonalds ketchup delivery tanker for US airbases in UK.
LPG carrier see a few of them around Falmouth area
That ship contains liquid gas, which is under pressure...... On bound probable Milford Haven.
Actually its not under pressure but at -196 deg C its a stable liquid but in a sealed container!
Definitely an LNG or LPG tanker and not a container ship. Have seen many of them off of Long Beach, CA.
Hi guys, another great upload. Have you released a video of how you prepare/cook/strip your lobsters?
Gas tanker
Guys, I’m intrigued by the magnetic attachments of your flexible solar panels which you’re using on canvas work. Is this a proprietary solution or diy? I think it’s a solution I could use so more information would be much appreciated.
Great channel and great crew! Many thanks.
Heck of a ship to encounter on your Honeymoon cruise, eh? Yeah, it is hauling Liquified Natural Gas in round containers under great pressure. The gas is compressed so much it changes into a liquid. But let's get back to your married life. I'll bet not much has changed other than certain jewelry and some new and/or revised documents. How would I know? Next Wednesday is the 43rd anniversary of the day Mrs. Webhead and I met. Not much changed when we married two years later. Oh, and good to see your parents visiting. See ya next week! :¬) Webhead USA
1:31 These damn sailing channels and the gratuitous ass shots of the lovely crew... 😂
Special.
There are simply not enough of these moments and as time goes on we realise it more and more.
Awwwww fab you had some special visitors .....Now then Dom ..... Using Navionics for your anchor alarm ... How does that work?
That's one of three anchor alarms, we have two apps on each phone and then we use Navionics to show where we dropped the anchor and the swing circle. We find that sometimes the GPS signal seems to go a bit mad whenever we have bad phone reception, which to my mind should have no bearing, but that's what seems to be the case at least.
LPG tanker
Yep Liquid Petroleum Gas tanker
its a Gas Tanker!!
Injured lol. You must have lost a lot of blood there.
Just a flesh wound 😬
that cargo ship is a Lng tanker
The tanker is Liquified Natural Gas.
That is a Liquidität Gas vessel.
that ship is a Gas carrier usually lpg or lng
Its The Largest Barbie gas Bottle you've ever seen
Did find the leak onto chart table?
LNG tanker.
Natural gas, LP, Propane.
Just out of curiosity I seem to recall you have been posting your video's without advertising but one ad break did pop up whilst watching, have you now changed your policy or was this a rogue YT encroachment?
That used to be our policy, now we have a single ad in a video to try and keep Hanks treat jar topped up and help keep the website and anchorage guide free 🐕🙏🏻☺️
Liquid gas ship
CNG or Propane tanker.
Is liquid natural gas
Ship is a gas container I think its LNG ,
LNG tanker
It's a gas ship
Natural Gas LNG SAKURA
LNG carrier
Like the green teak deck, was it an optional extra?😀
Liquid natural gas.
LPG probably at 10x price of Russian gas.
Gas carrier.
LNG
What type of tanker? Ask Greta Thunberg.
Its gas do not light a pipe. HAHAHA Will you open up your web site for other people to say this anchorage is good or not.
Those sea grass buoys are starting to become a menace. I know some have been put out by marina owners, along with buoys you can tie to (for a fee.) I also know places where they have refused to have them (the sea grass is fine, it doesn’t need protecting there.) I totally support biodiversity, but I am getting suspicious…
Sorry mate but the footwear you were using was totally inappropriate for that muddy slidey slope. Remember the sailors 6 P rule. Stay safe.
They are ankle strapped too with lots of grip, they're meant to be fairly hardy and grippy, as sandals go.
LPG tanker
