Disagree with your choices, the only Herondale that I love was James. But I do agree with Will, I didn't really like him, or the romance, I don't know why people thought that series was a "masterpiece, when really it was so cliche YA, with dull characters. And I didn't like the other series, especially TDA series, the romances their were all over the place, I felt none of them was a good pair for each other, all of them were either lying, I didn't even ship Julian with Emma, and Cristina deserved better, I hated Mark and that other dude. And I didn't see a love between Ty and Kit, I just saw friendship. The TDA romances were trash. BUT The Last Hours series romances was so much better, not cliche, not annoying, I love it. But, than again, I love The Last Hours series better than all of her SH series, especially with the characters.

I'm reading this series again for the first time since I was 17 (I'm 25 now), and it is so good! Some of my favorite books growing up aren't as good as i remember them to be (i also studied English literature and it's hard to ignore all the flaws in them after spending years analyzing books), but these are really really good. I read them mostly for the love triangle as a teen but now I'm struck by Lauren Oliver's prose. She's really good at descriptions, and at capturing the beauty of the world. Her depictions of love and pain are very very vivid. The books are a really smart, really harsh critique of powerful systems created to control. And as a teen I loathed Alex but now I mostly understand his character. I still think Julian was the better choice, he was a more interesting character in my eyes.

I fancast Abigail Cowen and Danny Griffin for Jace and Clary. Though for a younger look I also love Sadie Sink.

About Jem and Tessa being a better fit, at the end of heavenly fire tessa has a conversation with clary where she says that even if jem is now mortal, he lived a long life and understands immortality which is something very important when it comes to tessa, and it got me thinking, somehow jem always fits tessa so perfectly, in the past and in the now just wanted to add to your comment on them i do love wessa tho also I enjoy your vids very much 🥰

consider this statement with my choices: in the movie and the show, the writers aged the characters up a few years (to make the content more horny, surely) so if another movie or show is made, I think those writers would also age the characters up a few years. jace herondale - I originally chose nicholas hamilton (of 'It' fame) for jace h but whilst typing my comment, I remembered that nicholas is happily gay so I chose my backup...jace norman and no, I didn't choose jace norman because he has the same name as jace h. I really thought about what you said about jace h being a mix of jamie campbell bower and alex pettyfer and I think jace norman covers every aspect of jace h: he has that angelic beauty, he has the blonde hair which he can easily grow long as he's previously done, he has a very good lean/muscular/broad build and he's got lots of acting experience through the years. I want to see jace norman take a darker role and I think 'the mortal instruments' is the perfect start. clary fairchild - admittedly, I was racking my brain on my choice for clary until a couple of weeks ago: I was browsing on disney+ and I decided to watch 'black beauty', that's when I found my choice...mackenzie foy. mackenzie played the character who is stubborn and lost at the start of their journey but becomes more confident and trusting through their journey which Is essentially clary's character in a nutshell. I know mackenzie doesn't have that carrot coloured hair as described on the wiki but have a little vision. clary is described on the wiki as thin, quite short and cute and I personally think mackenzie foy fits the bill. makenzie's a great actress and granted, with mixed credits but I think she could channel clary very well! emma carstairs - It was hard for me to find a choice for emma because she's younger than clary and jace but I had to factor the ageing up of the characters. I had a few choices but they were either too young or too old so I thought I was stumped however, I thought about one of my favourite movies 'the babysitter: killer queen' which starred emily alyn lind! emma's wiki describes her as "passionate about fighting, training and killing when she's in the mood for it" and "beautiful and extremely attractive" which is literally emily's character in 'killer queen' so I personally think emily alyn lind is perfect for emma carstairs, she's just a great actress.

I first read Delirium in English class to get through silent reading time and man was I changed by it. I didn’t even know there was 2+ more books on the story. Once I found that out, I read delirium AGAIN then Pandemonium and Requiem. Not long after that, I read the series AGAIN later on in high school, and now, 6 years later, I finally own the books and am reading it all once again and oh my GOSH I’m reminded of this universe I’ve submerged myself into before and it’s hard to stop reading. I already knew how the first book ended but there were so many tiny parts I’d forgotten and my emotions were just as intense as the first time. I still want to forget the book so I can read it all for the first time again.

I 100% agree with every casting! You guys really pinned down the reasons why some of the other fancasts don't quite fit the characters and you've obviously put so much thought into what the book says about each character. Totally agree with you about Will and the casting of Kaya Scodelario as Tessa. She fits Tessa way better than so many other fan-castings. Also Dom Gleeson as Henry I can totally see! Also, your reasoning for Jem is perfect. I feel like his beauty is really overlooked, especially seeing as Tess and Will are both described as really beautiful and they are the characters he is placed beside lots. Will is often described as 'pretty', and Sophie remarks that Jem is just as good looking as Will, and like you say, is described as angelic by Tessa and Camille, but because of his illness as well as his personality, people don't remark on it as much. I agree that Arron Bernards would play this really well and looks completely the part.
