I get what you’re saying about Elide and Lorcan. They just travel most of the book and nothing major really happens until the end. But I do like Lorcan.
The whole thing is one massive Elide and Lorcan road trip then she THROWS herself onto him I HAD WHIPLASH FROM IT ALL

Ok I’m finally finished with empire of storms. Idk how to feel about this book because like as you said 1/3 of this book didn’t entertain me as much. Like when Darrow refused to give Aelin the crown, I completely understood him-not the way he spoke to Lysandra but he was right that Aelin can’t just waltz up to terrasen and demand the crown simply due to the blood in her veins. She’s legit 19, a LITERAL teenager, who’s only a year older than me and these lords have been protecting what is left of terrasen for these past 10 years. The beach scene was...SJM is just so weird with her smut and if you ever read acotar trust me it’s WORSE. I liked the parallel between blackstairs and rowaelin love confessions. Where we do differ is that you didn’t seem to enjoy the elide chapters, which I ATE up, I loved their scenes together and I did like lorcan. Midway, they were the only thing that was keeping me going as the fae squad, who I loved was just either boring me or annoying me. Also, am I the only who feels like Rowan’s purpose right now is being Aelin’s love interest. In the end Aelin didn’t deserve what happened to her and my heart broke for her even though you know how much she annoyed me in this book. I figured Aelin was planning something so I knew manon was holding back for a reason but elide yammering was getting kinda annoying😂. Also, i love Lysandra I really do but I completely understood why Aedion resented her for what she did. Lysandra promised him truth after he was raised with lies and deceit, and now she has not only lied to him about becoming Aelin but she also promised to provide Aelins heirs without acknowledgement or agreeing from Aedion’s side. This felt like a huge violation and it was Lysandra who emphasized to Aedion that Dorian had been violated. He was a dick for calling her a bitch but Lysandra did not simply do a “noble” thing, she also violated Aedion in a way, which granted isn’t her fault as it was Aelin’s idea.
Great video! My favs in the series are Heir of Fire and Tower of Dawn :) and OMG YES Dorian gives off alll the bi vibes lol

when tower of dawn was announced to be the next book instead of kingdom of ash i was SO angry because A) i never even liked chaol B) i needed to know what happened to aelin after EoS' ending. it hurt having to wait 2 years instead of 1 for the continuation of the main plot😭

I didn't much like the only Sarah J Mass book I read, Throne of Glass, and while it's not a popular opinion I really felt like it could use some more variety in the cast instead of a basically completely caucasian set of characters.
That is one of my main problems with this series, that and her LGBT representation - it’s absolutely dire and it made me so angry throughout so I totally understand this point of view!

Of course! It was hard because part of me didn’t want to read them because the rep was so bad so I keep it at the forefront of my mind when I read them to always remember!

I think that while the Throne of Glass is like mostly ok like obviously the rep isn't good but I HATED ACOTAR
