i'd like to know why rocky mountain and marin don't use the wider range advent cassette. you can get a 46-11. but do my eyes decieve me, or does the marin have a bolt on crank? I loved my Xtrada. but the XCR fork is NOT boost. just standard 100mm
bikes from bikes online in Australia come with all the tools needed to assemble the bike even a touque metre
DOPE!
excellent! Thank-you.
One important tip people - rear tyre pressure needs to be higher. Low tyre pressure will cause you losing the side-to-side balance. It's really night and day difference ☝
In $1700 you can get marin rift zone full suspension bike😅
I have a Vitus Nucleus Vrx 27.5 i bought a few years ago. Definitely a great bike
Great video! You hit all of the major points, clear and easy to understand. I've been SSing in AZ for about 14 years, currently 58 years old, jammin' all kinda gnarly chunk both up and down. Gave up the geared squishy years ago!
It seems to me it is a mtb tourer;)❤that thing
13:25 I had to do a double take because that looks exactly like a polygon xtrada, I was looking at.
You know when you meet a biker? He has chipped tooth
Baller builds 😂
awesome
Commencal with the price at 2500 is hands down the best.
I opted for the $2500 one. 2024 model and love it. I also got another Commencal just the frame a few months back, I got it for 450USD (Sale).
Everyone in the mid west is OVERBIKED. Hardtails or die.
5 tampons
yeah ok but who needs 20 hardtails? I already bought the last 10, why would I need 10 more 🤔????
These are my favorite all around tires. I use them front and back. Agree with the comment they are "predicable and comforting". Bonus you can pick these up for half the price of Maxxis and Schwalbe
orbea laufey h-ltd....boom
Love that color
How about scott scale 940? I think this bike is also in between price range..or is this bike not good enough?
Is there a specific bike app that I can use to locate strictly fast flowy trails
Ha I just commented on you other video about the Stoic and here it is!😂😎
A vid about Hardcore Hardtails without the Canyon Stoic?! You mentioned Blake and his Scout but what about Neil and his Stoic? The Stoic is about the only Hardcore Hardtail rated categorie 4 in the Netherlands. If Neil's not credible enough ask Sam Pilgrim😁
Anyone going into mtb SHOULD start on hard tails and hone there skills there first. I’ve actually gone back to Hardtail after 15 years off biking just to brush up on skills again before I buy another full sus
How good is the giant xtc slr 2 (2023) compared to the bikes here? My budget is 1000€ I don't know anything about bikes. I just want a good and fast mountainbike to for streets and offroad. It should be easy to climb. I don't care about good downhill performance.
what is best rear cog for 30 chainring for Single speed
Seat tube length is a deal breaker on Stanton bikes. 275 x 2.8 is a sweet spot for HTs and I can’t see why frame makers don’t all accommodate that.
I took cinnamon HT1 in Croatia few days ago for 1500euros, was on dirt track..It was awesome on drops. I like how it looks
Hi bro I want to start off by saying what a fantastic video this is so I'm currently using a Shimano cs-hg200-9 with a 7speed top shifter with a single chainring 32T and I want to convert to a single speed I've looked on eBay for a single speed conversion kit with spacers however I'm not sure on what size to get could you please advise thanks
Glad the video was helpful! Like I talk about in the video, that depends on a lot of things like wheel size, riding terrain, etc. I’d say start off with an 20 t cog and go from there. Thankfully single cogs are pretty inexpensive, so you may eventually have a bit of a collection haha
PLEASE SOMEONE RECOMEND ME THE BEST HARTDAIL FOR TRAILS THAT HAVE JUMPS THAT ARE UNDER 2K
Check this video out: czcams.com/video/QGW1qSaBqjU/video.htmlsi=JdbOK5D20j4P4xpJ
Hey! Can u recommend me any hardtail thats for under 1.5k and is able to cover trails with jumps? Thanks
Check this video out! czcams.com/video/QGW1qSaBqjU/video.htmlsi=JdbOK5D20j4P4xpJ
I’ve been riding the advent x since last year and so far so good. A lot lighter that the sram sx i had.
Nice!! Have you had any issues with the derailleur clutch?
@@ridingwithjoshandwendy not really other than the switch is hard to flick . I work a lot of hours so its not like i have 500 miles on it yet .
I appreciate the review, but this is the second video I've seen set up single speed. I don't understand the appeal of going for the ultimate hardtail, but then cut its balls off making it single speed.
Haha cut its balls off? Gears are just compensating for a lack of balls 😜 In all seriousness though there’s pros and cons to both, I personally love the aggressive riding style your forced into on a single speed, but it’s definitely not ideal in some settings. I’m fortunate enough to have two bikes and one is currently geared and one is SS and they both get about equal use
No Norco torrent line up??
Love the Torrent, but not under $2k. The Fluid HT isn’t the best value compared to the others on this list
Absolute best video describing the process of learning manual. And I watched them ALL! If you follow these tips, you WILL learn it. I went through this last year and can definitely relate. If you practice and still have problems with it, you either don't practice correctly or not consistently enough. I dedicated the whole season to learning only THIS particular skill and here is the result. czcams.com/video/G5aMwxv_A7s/video.htmlsi=oA_M5Bq7TQEUwsBV And yeah, I am in my 40s 😊
Nice work man!! And thank you for the kind words!
@@ridingwithjoshandwendy I enjoy your videos and dig the Middle child 😉 Manuals are sooo much fun. I have basketball background and started mtbiking only 4 years ago. The Manual was a wet dream of mine 🙂. After learning it last year, I started to enjoy urban riding even more than trail riding. Keep up the good work man! 👍
Thanks a million for this! Wonderful intro to bike geometry!
Glad it was helpful, thanks for letting me know!
Thanks. I am putting a CB hub with 27X1 1/4 rim on my old light Bianchi road bike. I restoed it from a dumpster & cold reset the rear fork dropouts for the change. Waiting for wheel. Single front crank.
Nice, enjoy!!
@@ridingwithjoshandwendy Been out of serious wheel work a few years. Got a bit rusty. Had to destress, use new nipples and bring 'er back up. From rite to too tite is about a 10% window. Ouch! I will get it........
Everyone's best bikes list seems to be filled with these stupid direct to consumer bikes. It seems that the reviewers have rarely if ever seen them or ridden them but they are recommending them. Being able to try a bike in a store is so much better and I don't have to spend a ton of money to have one shipped to me with the risk that it will not be the bike for me.
Great to have options, you can spend your money however you choose 🤙
Been looking at this bike, but I am a bit overweight. And I'm afraid I may destroy it quickly. My intent is to use it as a commuter to work, (about 6 miles one way). Then when I start dropping weight to start hitting trails. I'm 6'4" and 335LBS. Do you think this bike will hold up to my weight? Or suggestions on something that would. And keeping it under $2k. The commute is mostly flat. Some highway and mostly street. With a little dirt/gravel.
I’d check with Marin as to wheat their weight rating is. I’m sure you’d be fine commuting, but yeah trails riding is a bit of a different story
Marin Q 1 vs Polygon Xtrada 7 ? Wich one is better
Very different bikes! Get the SQ1 if most of your riding is on steep, rocky trails or jumps and the Xtrada 7 if you’re on more rolling terrain or prioritize climbing speed
I have never heard of Chromag bikes. It's funny that you think old steel framed bikes are exotic. I remember getting made fun of for having a steel frame when everyone thought aluminum and carbon was exotic and becoming the standard.
Not all steel is created equal! The bikes you’re talking about were likely made of heavy, week hi-ten steel, whereas many modern steel bikes are made of higher grade materials
Most hardtails are over priced. You can buy a good full suspension bike now for $2000 -$3000.
There’s a lot more that goes into a bike than the frame! You’ll get much better components on a $2k hardtail than a $2k full suspension bike. For reference, the Giant Trance 2 which lists for $2,800 has nearly the same drivetrain, fork, brakes, etc as the Fathom 1 which is $1,000 less
@@ridingwithjoshandwendy You can get a Salsa Blackthorn which is full suspension and has better components than most hardtails that cost the same or more.
What about chain length when you adjust the chainstay length. You should definitely check that because it can become to tight.
For sure! For the back to back testing I just didn’t use my 1st (largest) gear, but for a permanent setup you’d definitely want to add a link or two
Don't forget to but some new Fox stickers in blue :)
Yeessss!!
Dude, Love your videos FOR SURE!!! I APPRECIATE WHAT YOU DO FOR ALL OF US!!!!
Wow man, I really appreciate that!
I'm in the price category of a little more than 1k. I looked at the Cannondale Habit HT2, the Canyon Stoic and the Roscoe 6. Which bike would you recommend? A store like REI would give you service and warranty.
You can’t go wrong with any of those! If you want the maintenance/warranty/etc. support from a local shop then I’d go with the Trek. If you’re pretty bike savvy already then it’s hard to beat the value of a direct to consumer bike like the Canyon
I got my growler to about 63.4 after I put a 42mm offset pike ultimate 150mm. Stock was 130mm and 44mm offset
Nice!!
I love riding singlespeed! And yes, I am a BMX rider so it feels natural. You are spot on about how they teach you riding technique. They teach you how to maintain your momentum and move the bike around rather than just sitting and pedalling in a low gear over everything. It's like the anti-anti-eBike! 🤣
Haha true! Glad you’re stoked on it too!
