    The Polygon Siskiu T8 is known for being one of the most affordable full suspension mountain bikes on the market; but is it any good? To find out, I asked product engineers and brand managers at Fox, Shimano, Schwalbe, and Polygon to give us an inside scoop about the bike and its components.

    I use Schwalbe tires on my T8, and it was the first thing I had upgraded to Maxxis DHR and DHF, the grips comparison is a huge leap, I always had been sliding out of berms with Schwalbe tires but now with Maxxis it feel 100x better and makes me way more of a confident rider. Most worth upgrade ive ever done.

    I bought a T8 a couple months ago for 1,999. It's a great buy. I have a a friend who bought one a year ago and he loves it still. I don't think you can find a better bang for the buck bike then the T8 right now. This is the second Full Suspension bike I have owned and it's just as great as my old bike.

      The small and some of the mediums come with 27.5” wheels and 150/140mm of travel. All other sizes come with 29” wheels and 140/135mm of travel

    A full Shimano drivetrain even at the SLX level blows the top end sram out of the water

      I love how the SLX shifting feels! It’s by far the smoothest bike I’ve ridden at this price point 😍

      I bought a bike with the dreaded SRAM SX. To be perfectly honest I was sure one of the first upgrade was to switch my XT group from my old bike. It's still on the sx partly because I broke my wrist but it's really not as bad as I expected from the various opinions I've heard, clutch is pretty stiff no horrendous chain slap or indexing issues it's pretty solid, not premium feeling but it works and I love the shifter triggers... Just another opinion lol 😂

    Did you swap out the chain? My T8 came with a KMC chain? 😳

    • @ridingwithjoshandwendy
      @ridingwithjoshandwendy  Před 10 měsíci

      Same, that's why the Shimano guys were teasing me about getting one of their chains on there haha. But the shifting has felt pretty good even with the KMC chain!

      Some t8 are also shipping with a sunrace 11-51 cassette with sucks because you can't event upgrade to shimano 12 speed cassette. Different hub body. In addition some are shipping with shimoano 2 pot brakes instead of tektro 4 pot. It's kind of a gamble when you order

    You will not get SLX cranks OR the SLX cassette. Super misleading…. That’s about $200 worth of components.

      @@ridingwithjoshandwendy If I see catastrophic failures I can't really reccomend a bike. I see even Kona is back with failures, but only saw one so far. So fs rmy G1 has been solid, no bad stories. Even saw a dude bent steerer tube of 2019 Fox 36, collapsed rear wheel, but the G1 was fine. So I think I'm safe. Keep in mind this frame is reinforced at the high load areas, just the right amount of stiffness, flexibility, super thick tubing. It's a beast made to handle more than I will ever throw at it. Thickest head tube I've ever seen. Atleast twice the thickness of most. Of course such bike comes at a weight penalty. But won't break. 👌

      @@ridingwithjoshandwendy Canyon Spectral are known to snap at chainstay, Trek ha issues with chainstay snapping for years, 2012,13, I think, I rember reading a guy swapped 4 chainstay on the green and black Slash, even saw a carbon Slash that snapped on a trail, and that was the guy's second one that did that. I forgot the video title but it's on CZcams 🤦I remember seing a new redesigned Stumpjumper Carbon fail on first ride I think at the down tube. Bu tnot tha t any specialized failures but they definitely were not perfect. I wish the bike industry had proper quality control, aero space standard when it came to carbon. And every single brake was torture tested to avoid leaky brakes. Every frame scanned and inspected. These things can scare people away from the sport. But good thing is there are brands out there that are better with quality control, and make strong parts. This is why I prefer to build my own bikes from now on. Only select parts I know work for me. Then I might experiment, never selling the parts I know work.

      Facebook is seldom a solid source of information about these types of issues. FB is simply a complaint forum for a handful of people who want to complain...thinking someone is going to read it and not question anything.
