My ex boyfriend, whose mother I had truly loved, told me that she had died in a ferry accident. My whole chest got this terrible pain and I gasped out and was unable to do anything else momentarily. Once I got my breath again, I started crying and almost screaming that it couldn’t be true. He and I had already parted ways at that point, but I loved her so much that when we had broken up, I had asked him if he’d mind if I kept in touch with her. He said that he didn’t mind and that she’d probably like that very much. She and I kept in touch until that horrible day. It’s been almost 30 years and it’s still the most painful thing I’ve been told. I still miss her. To everyone who has read this, thank you. Please cherish your loved ones while you can because you never know what life may throw at you. Katy and I loved and appreciated each other until that terrible day. ✌🏼💖

This is something every single one of us can relate to, that’s why it hits so deep. Especially that first poem, wow. And the man talking about his late wife. I could feel his pain.

I’ll never know the name of the woman that gave me the idea to transfer to Arizona State: 1. Declare a major with a lower GPA requirement that I have 2. Get 3.0 GPA my first semester at ASU 3. Change your major to desired one. Two years later, I graduated from one of the best journalism schools in the country all because of a stranger on the phone.

My biggest insecurity is the feeling that I'll never be good enough... for anything... or anyone... probably stemming from childhood trauma...

I always will be stuck with the dream she seemed so excited about just for a short weeks coming she was over me. I’m always stuck with she even knew how I felt about her but that’s the gift of the curse

I remember my mom telling me that she was raising a human parasite and that I was useless simply because my room was a bit messy. After that I lost a lot of confidence and self respect because obviously any normal human being would have been absolutely destroyed after hearing the person that literally gave birth to them say such horrible things over a tiny mistake. Is what it is tho 🤷‍♀

You can't even begin to fathom pain and confusion until someone answers your question of "Just out of curiosity why won't you date me?" with "Why should someone date you?" and not only are you not able to come up with a good reason why they should, but you can't think of anything good about yourself. The end result of that has been a string of relationships with emotionally broken women that has just resulted in a lifetime of heartbreak and a lack of self worth.
