Cartoonist Kayfabe will never be the same without Ed, but it will always be remembered for the fantastic team up that it was. This is hard to say... but maybe it should remain as it was even though letting it go seems impossible to imagine. Jim, so many people have expressed their gratitude, I hope you know that you are appreciated. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into CK for all of these years, so many episodes, so much inspiration, what an epic undertaking - and what an amazing gift to all of us who have appreciated it so much. If nothing else, it would be good to hear what your intentions for CK might be... even if that is undecided at this time. Peace, healing and all the best to you... and thank you again.

He is a genius at using perspective in most of what he draws. Keep on Truckin' was a super popular image back then. I was in junior high school. I remember seeing somebody's high school annual with the guy traced and printed on the last page. There was a song, "Keep on Truckin'" sung by Eddie Kindricks, but I don't remember which came first - the cartoon or the song.

Did Crumb illustrate for “Street Rodder Mag”?

I think Peter David’s best work is his two X-Factor runs. The editors were clearly just lumping together X characters to push units. The writing is self aware and humorous, and he creatively breathes depth and lore into what were otherwise destined to be stock background players.

From my country, Chile, in the mid 90s I asked for comics via catalog and when I saw the Deathblow magazine I found that work by Cybernary. I loved the style and when I read that its artist had died from that sad illness it made me very sad. almost my age. To this day I remember his name and artistic legacy.

Been a few days now, so guessing this was the last vid. Thank you for uploading all of these, Jim. I worked in the industry for a brief time as a colourist. Was part of the Satellite Soda crew and my first colouring work was for Image’s Popgun anthologies, which I’m positive you were also a part of. After that I got asked to colour that Obama issue of Savage Dragon, the cover to volume six of Scott Pilgrim and a heap of other cool stuff. In the early 2010’s, I unfortunately did nerve and muscle damage to my drawing hand. Had to dip on all the projects I was involved with at the time, which lead to a dip in my mental health and me dipping out of comics and falling out of love with comics all together. I still bought stuff but it wasn’t the same, was just out of habit. Nearly a decade later though and Kayfabe brought back that love during a really tough time in my life. The two of you being around the same age as me, breaking down and loving a ton of the same artists and comics I loved as a kid, going through those Basic Training sections of Wizard; it brought my love of comics flooding back when I very much needed it. I don’t know if I can go back to working professionally but it feels amazing to be drawing, colouring and being creative just for myself. I had genuinely forgotten how much I loved it all. I will be forever thankful to Kayfabe for helping me find that love again.

Woah! The first two minutes felt like a Longmont Potion Castle call. RIP Ed.

In the Double Dare parody, the in-joke are the names of the kids. Mona and Chic were really Sara and Dick and the other two were Bill and Anne, the publisher and his third wife.

Bob Jones contributed to Mad now and then. He wasn't the biggest artist there.

Bulgin' Belly Burner ad featured Bill Gaines at a thinner time in his life. The other two are his friends Al Goldstein and Lyle Stuart. They were also publishers.

With The Untouchables parody, you can see Robert Stack (the TV Elliot Ness) in one of the panels. It's the one where Costner says Let's nab Capone and clean up Chicago. And the judge is played here by the director Brian DePalma.

I too enjoy seeing the beginning of Liefeld’s work. It’s just enjoyable… all encompassing.

The purpose of the text is to simulate the narration style of old radio shors like Witches Tale, or Lights Out. I also saw my 1st EC jack davis at age 8...in the MAD 50s paperback reprints. 1973, represent...kaf kaf kaf.

Cartoonist Kayfabe was such a huge part of my life for the last few years, this is just heartbreaking. I’ll always watch this content as long as it’s available to watch. ❤

I have this book and 2 others of Frazzetta's work, I have been a fan of his work for a very long time.

At this time, there was of course no internet and youtube so Wizard was for me the only place to find out about artists and writers and other comic stuff. Other than Wizard, the only way to find out about artists and inside type stuff was going to conventions.

why does it keep hurting so bad that ed is gone, all of these memories, this channel got me through the pandemic, while my wife was diagnosed with an aneurysm, two months at Stanford, couldn't visit, she survived but our lives forever changed., so alone during that time, but Jim and Ed were there for me, with their show... We love you ed, love you Jim, so sorry everything that has happened...

Losing Ed was such a tragedy. All he had studied and learned over so many years … all his talent and all that made him so great … all of it now gone. Because of some horrid woman.
