I learned some shit today. This why Cartoonist Kayfabe is so important. Nobody else is talking about this. This will impact a future artist. Thank you always Ed and Jim.
Jim, we are here for you. I hope you’re doing alright. Thanks for all the videos.
Maybe this channel cannot live on, but these discussions need to live on
When I hear “John Workman” the first thing that comes to mind is Simonson’s Thor. Another great episode…long live Cartoonist Kayfabe!
KATHOOOOOOM
Thrakadoom! indeed.
Thanks for the continuous uploads, tis bittersweet but hope there’s plenty more
Best part of my day is when the new vid drops. Will miss it when it’s done 🙏🏽
How are you still post such awesome videos. I learnt of the tragedy whilst on a 4 week holiday . Just got back and I don’t know how many of these treasures you have to share with us.
I think they’ve said a few times that they try to record extra videos to build up a back catalog for when they’d go on vacation. No idea if it was every week or not. A King Kafaber would know better how often they did this. This video seems to be recorded from last summer.
Been working on my lettering and drawing, so seeing Workman on this is a joy.
I love seeing these videos. Jim, thank you for everything. I could say it a million times and it wouldn’t be enough.
Everyone: watch the video, like it, and comment about the video as well as giving tribute to Ed. Keep the views up so the family gets those residuals and the channel does keep getting recommended.
RIP Ed.
Thank you for introducing me to The Art of John Workman. I’m embarrassed of my ignorance.
I keep watching these every day, wondering how many OG episodes are left… 😔
You never really notice the lettering unless it's really good, or really bad. It only jumps out at me every so often, but dang the letterer from Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham is amazing!
Funnily enough, I just looked up who it is... and it's John Workman.
Thank you for continuing to upload these.
Great stuff. Workman is such a talent. I need to track down his comics
3:20 Freaky? How about The Eyeball Kid (from Eddie Campbell's "Bacchus"), a twenty-eyed grandson of a hundred-eyed giant Argus "All Eyes"? 😉
Thanks, Jimmy!
Love Bacchus!
plz everyone make sure you share
At 13:00 I’m seeing the artwork from a cd album cover, from Lords of Acid. It’s devil tail and all.
DAVE SIM is all one needs to know that Letterers are an artform all of their own. Praise Cerebus even with the controversies!
I've met Dave Sim on three occasions and hung out with him for a little while (I used to own a comic shop in Buffalo, NY). He is no doubt a talented artist, intelligent and very funny. This was at about the time #300 came out or maybe a little after. None of the controversies came up and he was very personable with everyone. It's almost like 2 different people.
@@SexyMEFFER Now that was must've been a day to remember! I only brought up the controversies because annoyingly that's the one thing people love to take away from his works esp Cerebus.
However, personally I always enjoyed the later runs more so than the earlier more Conan-esque parodies due to the later issues being more Philosophical even if some of his struggles were being preached out in the open to his readers.
Plus as a Canadian, he single handedly made Comics such an influential Medium around the 70's when most Adult Oriented Comics were in Magazines not the comic book cca floppies.
Also his decision to release Cerebus in Collected Phonebook type prints are just my personal faves cause each volume can hold massive amounts of pages & still be lightweight!
I look for new episodes everyday, fearful the prior day was the last episode. I miss you Ed❤
Thank you.
This is such an awesome video. Thank you for this, Jim. We miss you Ed!
Kayfabe effect is hitting me hard on this one.....some reason I want it.

Hip Hop Family Tree : Best book I ever bought.
Hi Jim. Will Switchblade Shorties be discontinued?
I would like this twice if I could
I thought Todd Klein lettered everything. Dude has like 50 Eisners.
major education
wow
Still watching... and 👍... but this is kinda sad..
I don't want to be insensitive, but is Ed actually dead? how much did the record in advance...?
It seems like Ed and Jim made these videos about a month or more in advance.
Workman is the benchmark.
