    Many years ago, when the line was inaugurated to Tarragona, which is not BCN, I got into a Velaro almost newly released, I trembled as if I was dancing salsa, over time they became my favorite AVE train, I understand that a train can have small details to solve at the beginning, what if I agree with you is that after a train with so much time in study and in tests, it still has problems of this caliber, however it is RENFE and not Talgo who accepts this type of trains, and of course it's a shame for the awesome Spanish technology that these things happen.

  • @mckiwen

    the Issue of the 3 different gauges in use in Spain is specially a big issue in the north of the country. We have metric, iberian an standard gauge and the different gauges imply different quality services. The metric gauge is bad, really bad served with incredibly old trains and non existent long range trains and the regional services with average speeds of 30 to 40 km/h on services that can span up to 200 km (so do the math for the travel times). Thus, the need for gauge changing trains is a competitive advantage for Talgo and a way to secure contracts within Spain. the EU has mandated that all tracks should be converted to standardad gauge but I heavily doubt we will ever see such thing, as the implications are massive.

      The ride quality is not that bad (there are lots of videos in social media on this), the clips in this video have been cherry-picked in (well known) sections of the railway that are bumpy. This guy is french and hates Spanish train makers and Spanish rail infrastructure with a passion(you can check his other videos in Spain). This despise of everything foreigner is part of french culture (the famous chauvinism) and this Avril train , if succesful is considred a huge threat to the French rail industry. Hence the hate and the contruction of narratives

      @@user-hq6hb2xv4n I'm sorry to ask this, obviously I'm not from Spain or any European countries, just curious, why the rail is certified to be used for high speed train if it is known to be bumpy? Isn't it the most important thing to be taking care and making sure the track is smooth first before any high speed train run on that section of track? Even Japanese Shinkansen will immediately stop operation if the track found to be bumpy to be used. Genuinely asking because idk the regulations on Spain of high speed train track certification.

    • @user-hq6hb2xv4n
      @user-hq6hb2xv4n Před 17 minutami

      @@daviano_R.T. The track certification procedure in Spain is the same as in France and not very different from that of Japan. And all railways in the world have imperfections, even Japan. Talgo's unique technology (they dont use boggies) makes their trains lighter, faster taking corners due their natural basculation capabilities and able to change gauge on the go, but the price to pay is they amplify a bit the vibrations compared to boggie-based trains. This doesn't mean they are more unsafe, the natural basculation and pendulation , as anyone with basic physics knowledge knows, can be a bit uncomfortable but is even safer than non-basculating trains.

    This train has come with 2-3 years of delay and it has software problems, apparently the software of the train causes false emergency alarms and stops the train. Talgo is in big trouble now, they don't have enough money and you can see the result in this train. They're trying to find a buyer. A Hungarian company tried to buy them, but the Spanish Government didn't allow it because Orbán could be behind the bid and Talgo is considered a very important company for Spain.

    Screens on seats strike me as a huge waste of money. Screen on planes makes sense because you very often don't have an internet connection and your luggage is very limited (so it is convenient that you don't need to bring your tablet/laptop if you want a big screen). But on trains, stable WiFi with some cached content is the way to go. Mobiles work most of the time and you can easily put your tablet in the luggage, no one is weighting/measuring it.

    Well... people say that the IETs and Azumas in the UK ride badly. The Talgo AVRIL certainly tops it's! 😅 As for the 2+2 in first and 3+2 in standard, if the seats were of a better quality comfort wise then they would be expectable on AVE.

  • @tthep911
    @tthep911 Před dnem

    2 + 2 in first class is very questionable, 3 + 2 in second class is just beyond ridiculous. Only two first class cars will likely mean that it’ll be cramped all the time. How on earth will you convince business travelers to choose the train over the plane with this?!

  • @user-hq6hb2xv4n
    @user-hq6hb2xv4n Před dnem

    First hand experience from yesterday evening: I used the Avril Avlo service from Zaragoza to Madrid. Uneventful and pleasant trip. Noise and shaking similar to that of the S130s, nothing extraordinary or too bad. Seats are a bit narrow and hard, they are the same model installed on other Avlo models. They are perfectly ok for a low-cost service under 2 hours. The interior is nice and the train is roomy and well distributed. Overall, a modern high capacity , high speed train which is ideal for low cost services and trips under 3 hours (the majority in Spain). Honestly, I don’t understand why so much drama around this train. All Avrils will end up as Avlos eventually, when the new S-107 series (300 kmhr, gauge-changing narrow cabin "normal" Talgos) are delivered. Spanish Northwestern corridors and services into Portugal are going to need gauge-changing HSTs for several decades.
