As a person who lives in the Muntenia region, I have to tell you that Regio Calatori has done an outstanding job in maintaining these trains. The first time they started operating them was around 2018/2020, and since then the trains have been as clean and impeccable as now. I honestly prefer riding Regio Calatori rather than CFR thanks to their superior comfort and lower prices!
Never thought I would actually see usable toilets onboard trains in Romania. Really big props to Regio Calatori for bringing and maintaining these trains and also a very nice video!
Nice! First one. 😊French and Romanian are very similar like North station is in 🇫🇷:Gare du Nord and in Romanian it is Gara de Nord😊Even that train looks similar
Actually, both French and Romanian are in the same language family group, which is known as the Romance Language Group. So, pretty sure that's huge percentage of the vocabulary shares similarities :)
I didn’t know that. Thanks😊
and if you go to Bucharest, there's a roundabout similar to Charles de Gaulle Étoile with an Arc the Triumph in the middle. And they have a statue of De Gaulle as well. Romania for France is like a little brother. The French national rail is abbreviated as SNCF, whilst the Romanian is sometimes referred to as SNCFR
Nice timing with the video release. 1st December is also the National Day here in Romania 😊
They look so modern, quite and faster than anything we have in Inverness in the Scottish Highlands with ScotRail. Plus electric, something we may never see in Inverness. Honestly I was on a train today from Elgin to Inverness on a very old diesel class 158, it was so grubby, diesel so noisy and literally falling apart.
Romanian people are experts in maintaining train stocks from all over Europe ! A lot of old French rolling stocks have been sent to Romania where they found "a second life" !
The yellow and green train at 8:24 is actually also a used train but this time bought from Denmark. Its name is the IC2, the even more troubled little brother to the danish troubble trains called IC4. The IC2 was only used in Denmark for about four years before DSB decided to pull them from service. You can see more in this excelent video from Simon Andersen:
czcams.com/video/VRTXN9jGeVY/video.html
08:30 Yes, more DMUs will arrive in Romania along the way that are withdrawn from France. The initial desire was for 60 - 70 trains needed to replace the old AMXs.
Trivia @3:34 : French type E outlets were not replaced by type F (e.g. "Schuko") commonly used in Romania.
Not needed, they are compatible.
Nice video! They do buy a lot of old stock but they also have their own Romanian-made EMU between Bucharest and Constanța. So they have a huge variety of trains! Can't wait for more Romania vids
I should think both - very well made in the first place, and very well maintained.
beau train français il sont très magnifiques le train et belle intérieur
Oui, pour nous en Roumanie sont plus bonnes que 90% de notre parc roulant. C'est d'avantage de ne pas avoir des places face a face, donc tu peux te degourdir tes jambes.
I went to Sinaia in October. Beautiful Romanian town.
Took an IR train from Bucharest and a R train back with the state operator. Thought both trains were good
Nice trip report !
Romania videos are always nice !
Great trip report
2:36 and 3:12 You caught glimpses of the Royal station, nowadays used by the Romanian government for official business. The last kings of Romania had a palace in Sinaia (the Peles), also visible at 0:36 in the aerial view at 10 o'clock.
I'm sure the Romanian lines will get positive Feedback and as long as they can Maintain the Train sets they should be getting more in the future!
Nice ride. Comfy seats for 2nd class and big windows.
Thanks Thibault👌💚💚
Regio Calatori also has other french rolling stock such as X 4300, X 4500, RIB and RIO
Nice Video
In the summer, regio calatori is operating from brasov to mangalia, on the seaside, and usually, they don't quite have a/c, so i have mixed feelings about these train sets😂
This DMU unit has it; in fact, Regio Calatori it's the best value for money in Romania.
Private companies will focus on profit, so they will maintain a good service to attract passengers. Nice trip, btw! Best regards!
A very scenic ride along the mountains, what a journey 🆒
Great trip, it's great to see used train from another country is well maintained on its second life in new country.
Between Sibiu and Cluj-Napoca, Regio Calatori operates the route with old DB Regio BR628 stock that used to drive through Bavaria for years... everything inside these trains is still German!
From Sibiu to Cluj is not Regio Calatori though, it's InterRegional Calatori
@@andreibalasa745oops, You’re Right! Didn’t know there was a difference…
Buna ziua! 🙂I'm not sure if you are aware, but you published a video from Romania on the National Day of Romania 🇷🇴
I didn't know that! :-)
Very interesting and enjoyable video! Was this journey, entirely 'under the wires'? If the answer is yes, why was the train not an electric unit?
Just because it's cheaper and less bureaucratic for a private operator to buy discounted diesel from a private supplyer instead of paying electricity fees to the national operator. And also because it can go to uneelectrified sections of the route, for example Bucharest-Constanta-Mangalia in the summer, because after Constanta the line is unelectrified.
Oh yeah you'll find loads of odd trains in Romania. If you look for daytime trains by Astra Trans you'll likely find an Danish IC2 DMU built by Ansaldo Breda on the service. In fact at the end when you get off, the train on the opposite platform is literally one of these IC2 sets. A train that infamously only ran in Denmark for 3 years from 2012 to 2015 after a delay of several years, and as a short 2 car version of the infamous IC4 DMU's (which are still in service in Denmark but with all units already sold to an unknown buyer in Romania and units sent down when replacements have become available.)
Ah,you really make me happy,i love this train. This mad eme mind the smell of the train and the last travel i made with it (Roanne-Lyon).
For the noises it can't be worth than the X73500
Simplyyy 😃
Very nice in my opinion. Wish I were there on the train.😁
You should also try the trains from Brașov to Zărnești runned by Regio Calatori. Build by Alstom but in the 60's.
Very nice big windows
Boa viagem simplys
Nice to see the DMUs get a new lease on life in the Romanian countryside!
The same happend with sine Danish trauns and for the same reason, build by Ansaldo Breda, they were sold to the state operator, In Denmarrk they mere called IC2 owned by DSB, the state operator,
It would be pretty cool if it turns out that actual the train from this video was one you used to ride in France.
When are we getting a review of the Union Pearson Express in Toronto?
Can I suggest that you change your explanation verbiage to black? White type tends to blend into the background often making reading it difficult. Especially on a cell phone screen.
Nice trip report and in the future if X73500 family were to be retired the suited version for Romania is X73900 because Romania uses Indusi Punktförmige Zugbeeinflussung like Deutsche Bahn ÖBB. That way it retains Vacma and PZB while Contrôle par vitesse balisés KVB is disabled or removed from the train. I'm wondering to how the Romanians managed to make X72500 run on their network despite it not having Indusi Punktförmige Zugbeeinflussung equipment to run from the start. The next step is buying locos from the Romanians just like how the Brits got Class 56 Grids from the Romanians 001-030
Must be something that is done all of the time. Many countries are upgrading their old trains with the new, digital ETCS signals so surely it can't be too hard to retrofit other, older signalling systems.
@epender thank you for telling me about that does it include Germany to Austria where PZB running operations have been the norm since the 1960s
great job man try reviewing Indian trains too would love to see that😊
💘💘💘💘💘💘💘
Hello i don't want to be mean or anything but you wrote "buna zuia" the corect form is "buna ziua". Have a nice day.
what was the severe weather alert? Tornado? Lighting storm?
tornados aren't a thing in RO, only a couple small ones in the past 30 years
Nice train even it was built in 90's ..how much the Top speed and cruising speed
160 km/h
Are the trains still noisy?
Kinda...
If you compare to romanian standards...they are quite silent.
I thought I recoginized thios station from the show, now if only we could make it a reality.
Maybe Romania wanted French trains to boost their services across Romania. Or maybe it’s because France and Romania does have good relations as both countries are in the EU.
Romania and France are historic allies. The Romanians look at France as an older brother. Both languages are romance. Bucharest has its own Charles de Gaulle Étoile with an Arc de Triumpf
Il n'y a plus de x72500 en service en France
Si les TER pays de Loire
Et PACA :-)
THATS THE WEDNESDAY STATION???
Yes, so what?
I am a Romanian living in the UK and I believe that for my home country these are very good trains. The problem I've got with them is that they run on fully electrified routes. From Bucharest to Brasov the line is fully electrified so these trains should not be allowed to run at all on this route. They are polluting the air for no reason. They should be used exclusively on non-electrified routes or on routes that are partially electrified. I hope that the Romanian Government or the EU would one day ban diesel trains from running on fully electrified routes. Here in the UK we have trains from Stadler than can run on Diesel but they can also use the overhead wires.
Because it's cheaper to buy diesel from a private seller instead of electricity from CFR who doesn't offer any discount at all.
I don't think that diesel will be restricted in public transport any time soon
@@budapestkeletistationvoices I was not talking about banning the Diesel trains from public transport I was talking about just banning them from fully electrified routes.
@@Laurentziu83 Even if this is the reason I think the authorities should still not allow this to happen. If all operators would use Diesel trains on fully electrified routes then what would be the purpose to still keep the overhead wires?
It seem that they don't change anything indoor. Seem the same train in France, same color, seats and confort. They only delete SNCF Logo to pu us.
On dirait qu'ils ont tout laissé d'origine. M^émé intérieur qu'en France, même couleur, même sièges et même confort. Seulement enlevé le logo SNCF pour mettre le leur.
These had an exterior overhauled, but in the same colours.
