  • Dobro jutro!
Back in Mars, ‪@slovenskezeleznice‬ and ÖBB launched two new routes in and out of Ljubljana to Graz and Villach with their new FLIRT... These two new routes (even three between Villa Opicina and Rijeka last week) will be definitely a game changer for European travelers! It was a pleasure to be part of the very first revenue service to Graz, thanks for the invite!
Enjoy, and don't forget to like/leave a comment to help the channel :-)

UK really needs more of these types of trains. Only Greater Anglia and Transport for Wales have these FLIRTs. They are almost level with the platform and have gap extenders, removing the requirement for disabled users to use boarding ramps. Seems for sure that GA also introduced the class 720 for commuter services, which does require a ramp.

SZ has also just lanched a new service linking Villa Opicina, in the suburbs of Trieste, in Italy, to Rijeka, in Croatia, via Slovenia. I don't know why they are not extending it to Trieste Central Station: probably it's a matter of signalling or trackage rights, however it's still a good sign, as until a few years ago there had been no passenger services linking Italy and Slovenia for some years.

    • @markoobid2005

Of those modern EMUs, we have PESA ELFs and NEWAG Impulses and each operator (even sector of Polregio) has different both numbering, as well as interior and livery, from exterior, it's differed by different electronic route signs (e.g. KMAŁ uses a font similar to Arial; some other operators have custom fonts).

Your just released review of Slovenian Railways was of interest to visualize an update of regional passenger service here in southeast USA: a PLUS mark for "power pack (non catenary area)" propulsion on some lines, total-access toilet, filtered air-conditioning; a MINUS mark for: no window blinds, no folding seat trays at average comfort seating, relatively low capacity (no double-decker) coaches, no visible food (cafe area) service for a three (3+) hour trip.
While it is to be acknowledged that the railway is likely on a limited budget for capital purchases, access to inter-continental air service should be taken into account to boost tourism (Note also that an alternative ride by bus is hours longer.).

It is great to have a better connection at last! Even though the interior is a little basic for an international express train, having no tables in second class, and first class is in a 2+2 layout too, so in terms of seating comfort the Pendolino but even the old "green train" are superior to that.
Anyway they promised that the number of trains will be increased greatly in the near future (for now there's still a gap in the timetable in the middle of the day between Graz and Maribor), and maybe they will also replace the "Croatia" between Graz and Zagreb which is currently a bit unsatisfying (just a locomotive and two 2nd class cars, not wheelchair accessible, no catering).
Connecting to the ÖBB Desiro from/to Bad Radkersburg it is also an important connection south of Graz.

The fact that trains have no tables even thought the seats have a cutout for table, is just so stupid and annoying

Siemens Viaggio is never the best option. Stadler EMUs are the best option everywhere. period. See the ramps in these Flirt trainsets? way better than the ramps in the new railjets or any high-floor train model...

This train is a joke. 3h for 200 km is no significant improvement on this line since the late 1970s and I bet it'll never be on time (so sooner or later the Austrians will cancel it). It can only be useful for those who want to travel from Maribor (if they can park the car there) to Austria. On the other hand the commuter layout with "ironing board" seats and no bulkheads between cabins and vestibules is also unacceptable for a 3-hour ride. These trains are new and they were planned for this type of use from the very beginning, so why didn't they get a proper layout?

It's perfectly acceptable, stop crying. There are longer regional routes in Germany.
