Most peaceful sibling interaction at 08:42. Great video!
08:42 all-time great railroading moments.
Fresh news report that here in Italy, the new generation Railjets will replace traditional loco-hauled Eurocity trains between Bologna and Munich by April. Can’t wait to see them here in Verona!!
Oh man, you don't know how much I missed this format, it is so relaxing and visually satisfying
First time in years I watch your channel. I see you talk now!
As far as I could find out the EuroCity with it's heavy SBB stock needs the two locos to be able to achieve the same average speeds as the normal rail jet to fit into the timetable
This Zurich-Graz train will be certainly heavier that a Railjet. Note that it is largely Swiss rolling stock.
Is the SBB rolling stock heavier than he ÖBB one?
The two Taurus loks are needed between Buchs and Innsbruck for the ascent of the Arlberg pass, EC163/4 normally has a consist of 12 coaches as opposed to the mere 7 in a RailJet consist.

Correct to above information by that person, did Austria last year, around the tirol/innsbruck region travelling o EC164 "Transalpin" graz-zurich hb from innsbruck-landeck zams, the train arrives into innsbruck hb single cl1116 on the front,2nd cl1116 put on at innsbruck hb,so from landeck zams the Western ramp of the arlberg line starts at 1/42 gradient for over 20 miles to st anton am arlberg ,entrance to arlberg tunnel both locomotives work through to zurich hb,freight trains will require a banker(1144/1116either),for assistance over the arlberg line.
I took railjet from Zurich to Vienna in First Class. It was a beautiful ride and a very nice train. I agree with you, these are the best intercity trains in Europe.
Totally agree. Second class also is super comfortable even for such a long route. To be fair though, ICE trains aren't any less comfortable imho. It's just that ÖBB manages to be reliable as well.
Thanks for an excellent video! I have holidayed in Austria three times in the last five years. On all three occasions I was based in Vienna and I bought a first class Austria only Interrail any 8 days out of a month, currently 344 Euros (see ERT page 581). I have never upgraded to Business Class. The only advantage appears to be the extremely comfortable seats. But 'ordinary' First class is also extremely good. You get free newspapers (I can read German) and the same service at seat as in Business class. The price of food is reasonable, but not cheap.
You are absolutely right to have the Zurich-Graz 'Transalpin' train on your bucket list. But viewers should note that 'Panorama' car we saw is First Class only. And make sure that you reserve a seat in that carriage.
I appreciate that you show us the most beautiful route of the railjet - which is the one in Switzerland ;)
Jokes aside, as a swiss person I have lots of respect for ÖBB, they are doing a lot of things right. When it comes to long distance even SBB could learn something from them.
European trains are awesome 😊

Technically, you'd not only need a new reservation but also a brand new ticket - the Sparschiene tariff isn't flexible at all! He was very generous then...
If someone mentiones "refurbishment", I'm always a little bit scared, as it usually means a denser configuration in economy/2nd class, less legroom and worse seats. And I'd bet that those doubledeckers will be ryanaired.
Honestly, I like the new Railjet Seats alot more than the old ones
Ich glaube dass ist eins deiner besten Videos!
A better option would be to export some of the original Railjet sets to the UK to replace the InterCity 225's...
I rode this train many times between Munich and Salzburg. I really love those Business Class seats very much: quite wide and comfortable. The staff even brings the meal to your seat.
Another nice trip review. Railjet seems to be very well organized rail service and the fact that it operates beyond country borders is even more attractive.
Railjet2.0 are being introduced this year initially on the Wien - Bludenz route and will be operating RJX services. Railjet3.0 are planned to operate RJ services with more stops than RJX services and therefor deemed not necessary to have full dining facilities (I believe they will have vending machines similar to the Westbahn Flirts). If Railjet were to offer food in Business class, you could expect a way higher surcharge than the €6 that is imposed on the standard fare!
Your information about railjet 2 is totally wrong.
No, they will operate on the Munich-Verona route initially.
Hi, from Austria! I really enjoyed your review! The EC Transalpin has got 2 Tauruses because it has to go over the Arlberg mountain and it's too heavy to pull for one Taurus :)
Great Business Seat. Lovely scenery. Perfection. Thanks Thibault. 💙👌
Great trip. I hope the Railjet 3.0 have same seating like Railjet 2.0, even though no dining car.
Like you, I love the Walensee. Of the smaller Swiss lakes, it is my favourite.
Great video !!
Nice video! Thank you Thibault and Benjamin.
No free meal is correct but in Business you have one free drink.
Everytime I see an OBB train, this song by WRS stucked in my head Thibs.
Hola, mi OBB
Hola, mi OBB
Llámame, llámame
Llámame, llámame
In Business Class across Austria one drink is for free. If you travel from Buchs SG to Zurich or in Germany, you don’t have to pay the additional surcharge of 15€, because for SBB or DB isn’t a difference between Business and First.
I found the business class experience even greater for the long run. I went from Vienna to Buchs SG thus having time to enjoy lunch of several courses. They even brought the soup separately to my seat and the rest followed later one by one. Being Austrian company, the cakes available were great anyway, but in the end, I thought for the quality and the service rendered, the price was very decent! Also very quiet and plush, this is the rail travel I wish all companies would offer! Great stuff!
Finally new railjet video
Whoosh menunggumu , Obrigado .
So beautiful
simply railway i'm your biggest fan 🙏🙏🙏
The ÖBB Business Class is great if you take a ride early in the morning or late in the evening and want to get some rest.
But working on the flapping folding tables with a laptop is almost impossible and I usually prefer 1. class to get some work done.
great!
Simplyyy 😃
I’d love to see these trains being rolled out here in the U.K. on the Manchester to Holyhead Route for the SailRail connections for the ferry to Dublin
Even clean windows! !
Hmm by the looks, I think I would prefer business class over first class. No concern if I have to pay for the beverage. I do miss hearing the sound of the wheels when you used the rolling carry on. The sound and feel of train travel has always been my "zen garden".
I think everyone would, but it costs more
I don't know exactly why the EC163 use two Taurus, maybe because of the changing altitude or to use more power for traction, what I do know is that when it starts from Graz Hbf it uses one Taurus.
I told you before on IG and I'm telling you again to use it,you won't regret it.
The Transalpin is equipped with 2 Tauruses because of the steep climbing this train does after Bludenz in the direction of Graz🎉
Railjet my beloved train this is one of my favourites of all time and the 100 year anniversary livery 01:51 I have the roco klimajet
6:12 I’m pretty sure that’s a doubleheader for Eurocity routes and it’s very rare in my opinion.
Random thought: you should try LNER first class in the UK (as you're very keen on food and drink being included in the ticket price).
Even the US will get to experience Railjet 2.0 to an extent, If I remember correctly the RJ 2.0 cars are the european version of the Siemens Venture railcars going into service with Amtrak. Though most of the Amtrak Venture trains are being pulled by Charger diesels, and the new cab cars which in RJ style look like the front end of the loco pulling them (a Charger in this case) will have a pantograph allowing the Charger to run dual mode on electrified lines.
A unique way to greet your brother! One small question: what type of gimbal device are you using with your phone for this video? Would you recommend it?
A little chaotic this vid. Benjamin is to blame for sure. Il pointe le nez une seule fois et tout se barre en coui**es! Ce Benjamin comme même. 😁
I hear a singing train that means a ÖBB RH1016 RH1116 or RH1216, Type of the train officially is ES 64 U2 or U4(RH1216 is a U4) but its better known as Taurus
Only 1016 and 1116 have the “music scale” sound. 1216s don’t have it, since they have different engines derived from the ES 64 F4
Don't the DB BR 182s also have the musical gate transistors? That is just DB's version of the Taurus.
@@mrvwbug4423 that is a taurus
@@mrvwbug4423 yes, you are right
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
How did you book the business class seat? Each time I try to book it it’s either economy or 1st? Does it vary based on destination? For example both journeys Vienna, Hallstatt and even Prague, had ONLY first and economy class.
08:42 Bro flipped His Brother Off💀💀
At 6:20: The second Loco 1016 034 can only be used in AT und DE. In CH only towards Buchs. So maybe just transfered back from an earlier journey to AT.
That train often has two locos (or more) for the Austrian section as the coaches are heavier and it climbs some pretty steep gradients.
Between Buchs and Zürich, this train is usually being pulled by 1 or 2 Re420. So no need to use Switzerland capable ÖBB locos. ;)
@@eagle3003More importantly, the Zurich-Graz trsin is an EC not an RJ, so an engine change at Buchs is necessary.
@@Fan652w A change of direction yes, but this could be done with the same engine in theory.
@@eagle3003 But it takes quite a time for a loco to run round a train. Changing the loco at a station where a non-push-pull train reverses will always save time.
Magic ❤video ❤👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😁😁😄😉👋👋🚄🗻🗻🗻🗻
A couple more of these videos, and you'll be made a honorary citizen of Austria. 🙂
I’ll never understand why trains in mainland Europe and even in Eastern Europe are so much better than those here in the U.K., aside from the problems with the German railways - rail travel in my native Ireland reaches this European standard too
I couldn't uderstand why you flipped that guy in the cabin the finger 😲
It's his brother, Benjamin. Just doing things brothers do. ❤
A bit confusing when a railway has its top class called"Business" and next down is "First" whene airline industry set a standard of First being top and business between below it. But employees whose employer stipuate thet can get Business but not First for travel get a perk when taking Railjet since they can book Business 🙂Out of curiosoty, would it not be faster and more fun to just to to the dining car to get your meal?
The answer to the questions in your last sentence is a very definite no! I have traveled on quite a lot of Railjets. The Restaurant car gets crowded and noisy, the seats are less comfortable, and the service is usually slower. The same is usually true of German ICE trains, where there is also service at seat in the first class.
Märklin ! ;-)
Boa noite viagem ai
Oh come on its Austria not Australia ;-)
Why is Australia called by the continental European Latin name when it's a British colony?
Don't use normal seats. They are very cramped.
Looks like it's the same seat model as in Flirt3 of PKP Intercity. I rode it and I can tell that it's deffinitely not suitable for long journeys.
Your meal was 25% of the total fare! Gross Gott!
U are too young for a bucket list
Anybody that has been to Japan thinks this is a big joke. Perhaps more room but hey travelling backwards?
