'Anyone but You' is kinda bad...(Review)
Will say as a glasses wearer, I can see the glare of your phone from behind me and it can be just as disturbing.
you're doing god's work
If your children are too young or misbehaved to sit still and quiet for more than 30 minutes, PLEASE don't bring them to the theater, whether it's a "kids movie" or not (ESPECIALLY if it isn't). I had to sit through a very young toddler breaking out into a full wailing cry session in the middle of a quiet serious moment of Spider-verse and it took a terribly long time for the parent to take the kid out of the theater so that the other viewers missed important plot points. If your kid is fussy or generally behaved like a demon it's better for everyone's sanity to just stay home and wait for the movie to come out on streaming or DVD...
When I went to a Friday night screening of Mean Girls, and there was a group of teens in the row in front of me on their phones the entire time…on tik tok, texting, playing games, and filming the movie. I put up with it for like 45 min until one of them started filming with flash! I couldn’t take it anymore and said “can you please stop” loudly….they stopped for the rest of the movie. I was so confused-like watch a movie at home all together if you want to be on your phones the whole time and talk to your friends!
Extra Pro Tip: if you hate the movie that much just walk out dont make a vocal fuss about how bad the movie is infront of the whole crowd!
THIS IS THE BEST MOST RELATABLE VIDEO IVE EVER SEEN.
I was watching oppenheimer in 70mm and there was this guy who kept scratching the back of his head, which would light up his apple watch to maximum with a nearly white watch face. Eventually the same dude got on a phone call in the middle of the movie and some guy threw popcorn at him and that was the end of that. EDIT: YOU ACKNOWLEDGED THIS!! LOOOOL
I slept on this movie for so long and found it to be, in my opinion, the best from this year so far
The Wind Rises is the best Studio Ghibli movie in my mind.
Inside Out 2 was a solid sequel. Finding Dory is something I wish never happened
I liked both Inside Out movies. The Cars movies on the other hand… 🤢🤮
There is literally a cinema mode for the Apple Watch. It's right there in your control center for this exact purpose. It simply prevents the screen from turning on every time you raise your wrist and it turns on silent mode.
Do more videos like this.
Agree with all of these. For me, the talking is really the worst. Shut the f**k up and watch the movie or just leave, Jesus it drives me nuts.
Goldfinch should be a much longer miniseries.
What about trailers though? Sometimes people can stay very quiet for the trailers but I never know wether or not it’s appropriate to openly talk to the person next to me or not
when i saw studio 666 in the theater i brought a to-go salad in there
Karsten lookin drippy… the hair, the shirt 🔥
Cool thumbnail
I went to see inside out 2 yesterday and the guy next to me immediately took off his shoes and socks and put his barefoot man feet on the back of the seat in front of him. AND he had a sub
it's quite interesting what you were saying about people trying to make movie theaters feel like home etc. I'm from Europe, and here, at least at the more traditional theaters, going to the movies feels a lot more “festive“ and special, like, we will have red velvet seats and things like using your phone or talking too loudly are absolutely looked down upon. when I was in the US for a semester, I was baffled about the fact that you guys often have these massive adjustable seats, you're able to bring hot food in there, and there's people bringing blankets, wearing sweatpants etc. I guess it's just a different view of going to the movies in general, like, to me it's (also) about honoring a piece of filmmaking, whereas in the US it felt more like a relaxing free time activity, sometimes the actual movie didn't even feel like the focus point of the experience lol
All S TIER
The worst part about people bringing the double garlic onion sub or pizza into the theater. Contrary to the belief held by people who get food poisoning all the time and blame minority cooks for it. Food actually can go rotten within an hour at room temp and stink and get you sick. After a two hour film, or boat ride, or panel talk, especially if it gets warm, a sub wrapper or pizza box will generally stink like hell. Please throw your food trash away BEFORE the movie starts if possible. Thank you. Even at Alamo theaters where they serve food, they try to clean the food as soon as you're done whenever they can.
How about just turning the d*mn phone off? Why is it “going overboard” if you can turn it on again afterwards?
Toph placement pisses me off
I remember going into my screening feeling like absolute shit, and had considered just skipping the screening so i could go home and nap, but oh my god this was the perfect film for me to watch! I didn't realise how much I needed to just sit in a comfortable space and watch something fun for a couple of hours, it was exactly what I needed it to be! First time in a while I haven't subtly checked my phone to see how far into the runtime a screening was; the film started and the next thing I knew we were getting ready for the final setpiece. It wasn't completely smooth but each moment where it started to drag was followed up by something bonkers and fun, such a great time! xD
I grew up going to the cinema. It was my favorite thing. People and their phones and their rudeness effectively ruined it. I almost never go now. But I invested in a home theater system and it’s the best decision I could’ve made!
When I saw Oppenheimer there was couple (or mother and son idk it was weird) loudly discussing what was on screen for most of the film. They got especially excited whenever a new actor joined the ensemble with the guy proudly exclaiming what other film this character was a "cameo" from like he was watching a marvel movie. I asked them to be quiet multiple times throughout the runtime but they didn't seem to care.
hot garbage.
Some things i would like to add are: - DON'T sit on the edge of your seat leaned forward for the whole fckn movie!!! Rlly uncomfortable if u have that kinda person next to you. - DON'T eat any "real" food other than snacks like Popcorn, cancies etc.. Personally, Nachos are already a bit too much of me bc of the salsa sauce smell.. - DON'T show up too late!! There really is no reason to come in at the last second. And probably the most important thing: DO NOT SKIP GOING TO THE MOVIES IF YOU CAN'T FIND SOMEONE TO GO WITH! GO BY YOURSELF, IT'S A MAGICAL EXPERIENCE AND YOU WILL FEEL PROUD AFTER IT!!!
they need to play this video before movies at the theater
ponyo is too traumitizing for kids
they all suck
A recent one I've noticed that's less about etiquette and more just confusing: laughing throughout movies that aren't comedic/laughing during serious scenes
Me, who always follows these rules automatically: "Ah yes, let me watch a video about how to behave in a movie theatre"
One time I got told to be quiet during a midnight screening of The Room. NONE of the rules apply to a midnight screening fo the room.
_thank_ you for bringing up no pictures or videos. this felt like such a given for most of my life, but for some reason in recent years it's just been completely disregarded and i never fully understood why. if i had to guess, i feel like it might be a result of people drawing false equivalencies between the act of filming in a theater and piracy? and since the latter is okay, so is the former? i dunno. even when i do see a clip i think is interesting, realizing it was recorded inside a theater kinda just ruins the clip for me. all i can imagine at that point is some hoser waving their max-brightness phone around to record it.
That's Totoro not Todoro, if your gonna talk about The Mascot that builds the Brand, then spell it Right in the Chapter Banner, (T O T O R O).
I was bored. So much plot and backstory that was really not needed. Should have been an hour shorter and just been about hiding the green place. That was enough. Bullet farm, gas town, citadel politics, building rigs, etc. cut so much or just make a sequel instead of going back and explaining things that do not need explaining. Who cares how Han got his blaster, who cares where the Death Star plans came from. And who cares how she lost her arm. It’s a mystery and that’s better
I don't understand where this breakdown in etiquette happened. I guess everyone can say COVID made a lot of people narcissistic animals. The crazy part is theaters are struggling, attendance is low, but these weird rude people somehow find themselves at the movies yapping and sitting on their phones the whole time. Just stay home or go somewhere meant for talking? Like what the hell man.
The movie still has amazing qualities
The only acceptable talking I’ve heard in a movie this year was when they rereleased Tenet and near the end of the movie when describing the scientist who invented inversion they call her “the Oppenheimer of her time” and the guy next to me excitedly yell/whispered “Oppy!”
Cinema etiquette has been terrible the last few years. Every time I go to the cinema now, I'm dreading the abhorrent behaviors of the other patrons. Sometimes I even pick out a backup screening option to sneak into another film if people are being unbearable in the one I'm in. I can't remember the last time I was at a big box theater that had at least 5 people in the audience and no bright, visible screens during the film.
Apple Watches specifically have a theater mode for this
And for the love of God people need to learn to get to their movie ON TIME. There’s nothing more than a herd of people (usually a family) bumping audience members in the dark trying to find their seats.
It IS perfect. Never felt that much tension during an show finally that was basically just old friends meeting each other.
Well, Ocean Waves is my favorite Ghibli movie and I've watched them all.
I do shutdown my phone, I don't take chances of being distracted.
The people who need to see this video the most will never watch it.
Hey while I really love these rules and takes, try to go easy on us when it comes to those of us who have medical devices like insulin pumps that have alarms and screens, I try my best to be mindful of everyone’s experiences but sometimes there’s no way around it. Sincerely, someone who has gotten fussed at one too many times by people over my insulin pump.
