Best band ever

Originally this song was written as an entrance song for the heavy weight boxer Vitali Klitschko, but his management refused the song as it seem to heavy for them. This in mind, the lyrics become senseful, right? As it was not used for the boxer, the band searched for another "backstory". While brainstorming about this, one member remembered a scene in a Snow White film where the dwarfs said, that Snow White is their sun. So it came to Rammstein's screwed up version of the Snow White story, with a harsh Snow White junkie addicted to gold. The "female" voice is an artificial one played by the keyboard/synth. They are six guys (vocal, 2 guitars, bass, drums, keyboard/synth) who have started this band in 1994 and are still touring and producing new albums. Their line-up has never changed. If you want to continue to listen to Rammstein, I would suggest to see their live video of "Du hast" (in Paris, France 2012). the total destruction of europe from carpetbombing by the anglo allied air forces is still a biiggg big scar here. from rotterdam (bombed both by the germans and allies) where im from to dresden,hamburg to milan,rome and berlin. and even neutral states like switzerland got bombed time and time again ''accidentally'' the priceless monuments and architectural marvels being lost forever is still a weak spot for many of us. all for an military ''strategy'' of trying to demoralize the european civilians into surrendering (by litteraly burning them to death,spoiler alert the bombings only made the germans more radical) in my opinion its a crime,maybe one of the biggest crimes of our time.

Oh... the Metalizer album was their first one, it doesn't really sound like anything that came after. So the album you just covered, it's their first real war-related album. Not to say that Metalizer is bad, it's not. So essentially... They were perfectly fine with slaughtering thousands of civilians... Wasn't even military targets. It is upsetting. This truly shows how little commanding officers (you know, the ones planning everything FAR from the actual battlefields) care or understand about casualties resulted by their decisions. And I said it in the music reaction video, but I say it again.... The US "revenge" on Tokyo was nothing short of mass murder. So many civilians died, only to continuously be spat in the face for years to come even after the war. And this despite the fact that when Japan attacked Pearl Harbour, they targeted military bases. Planes and ships. Yet the US attacks the most densely packed city with only civilians as retaliation. This can never be justified in my mind.

Not sure why, but Indy leaves out quite a bit about Dresden in his coverage of that bombing...and gets a few things wrong. For one thing, Dresden was a major industrial city in the war, and at the time of the bombing there were over 120 medium to large factories in the city making war material. Next, the city was THE major rail hub for German troops and supplies traveling to the Eastern Front at that time, and the Soviets were practically demanding that the Allies bomb it into the stone age...American POWs moving through Dresden described the city as an "armed camp" with "thousands of German troops." And the city was hardly undefended, but since the Allies had not bombed it, the Germans had stripped most of the AA guns from Dresden to send them to cities that were getting bombed much more and also to the front to fight the approaching Soviets...so the city was very lightly defended in comparison to its importance. Something that rarely gets talked about in regard to "civilians" in Japan near the end of the war, is that the Japanese were planning on using millions of their own "civilian" people to acts as human shields for their troops in defending the beaches in the coming Allied invasion of the Japanese home islands. They had formed the "Volunteer Fighting Corps" and had been conscripting men between the age of 15 and 60 years of age, as well as unmarried women aged 17 to 40...and in April of 1945 the Japanese government officially decided that they would use the Volunteer Fighting Corps as part of the combat strategies to defeat the Allied invasion. So maybe, due to the actions of the Japanese government, there were not as many "civilians" in Hiroshima or Nagasaki as you might have previously thought. The US military definitely thought so, to the point where US Army Air Forces analysts began to declare that there were no longer any actual "civilians" left in Japan as of July 1945.

"Sonne" was released in 2001, I believe so is currently 23 years old! It was originally written as a song for Vitali Klitschko then a boxer as his entry music but it wasn't used so they repurposed it. The video is sort of independent of the music playing on the trope of Snow White so the words don't fit the storyline of the video. Before I listened to the history of this song, I thought it was just a song about mass bombing and I loved that rapid grinding pace. After the history the song takes on a much more sinister and harrowing visage. If your going to do more Sabaton reactions PLEASE watch the history episode as well. I love watching both reactions.

It's world war 1, not world war 2. Pashendale was one of the largest battles in history and a meat grinder for the young men of nations. Particularly Germany and Britain. Though I believe France was also involved in that battle. Some people who fought in the war were egger youths looking for adventure and lied about their ages. 16 and sometimes even younger would fight and die. Also Sabaton hasn't gone downhill at all. Their new stuff is great as is their old stuff.

thr two nukes over Japan, eheee actually military targets (naval base, Japanese military supply depot/logistics hub...), but the destruction was so #### vast that it took out the surrounding cities in spectacular overkill. so it is safe to say that the civilian collateral damage was even more spectacular.

I didn't know how horrible we carpetbombed in Germany during WWII. The way we calculated what sorts of bombs we would lunch togehtto het maximised deaths. The history episode for this song made me sick to my stomach. How evil mankind can be!

With the exceptions that Tommy and Chris had to take over singing the few times Joakim lost his voice... Tommy sang the second verse on Gott mit uns on tour with Sabaton (Chris did the first verse).

I just saw Sabaton in concert, opening for Judas Priest, quite honestly, Sabaton stole the show so anyone that says Sabaton is not as good as they used to does not know what they are talking about. To tour with ledgendary bands for 25 years should tell you a lot. Not just Judas Priest either, we are talking Motohead, Nightwish, Dragonforce, huge bands and Sabaton stands with these.

The "international laws" regarding the bombing of cities were very different before 1945 than they have been since 1945.

I was about to say, and then when I was about to type it, you said it yourself..... Bombing a city like that, with so many civilians, can't be justified. Now.... I hope you know that.... Many people associate bombings like that with the USA right? "Can't defeat your enemy? Just call USA, they will bomb the shit out of them." It's not a nice association, but... Now the bombings of Hiroshima and Japan during WW2... More civilians than military was killed. Even though the targets supposedly was factories, who work in those factories? I get it, but .... When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor - yes civilians died as well - but their targets were military bases, airfields, ships. They didn't target hospitals or anything like that. USA bombs them to dust, disregarding any and all buildings that might be below them, and calls it payback. I get triggered when it comes to this in particular. And I've had conversations with people online that badmouth the japanese, but if you look at the facts they were pushed into the war themselves. Like thye were used as scapegoats, just for USA to have a "justified reason" towards their population to join WW2. And then they get bad mouthed, and more or less occupied and poorly treated. No wonder they stick to themselves today.

It would be amazing if you also did the two bonus tracks for this album: "Swedish Pagans" and "Glorious Land". They are great and especially the former is one they still play in most of their concerts.

You said around the 7:45 somewhere that the purpose was Freedom. But I disagree. WW1 didn't have much to do with "freedom". WW2 - freedom and human rights. WW1 not so much. WW1 was the result of a world on the brink of starvation and a keg ready to blow. Why did so many join? For power. That's all it was, a power battle. In the video they talk about "why would anyone launch an attack like that on a terrain like this". Well, the answer is obvious. Make it as miserable as possible, and be the last one to give up in these conditions. Good reaction as always ^^ I wish more people would watch these snippets of history, even if they don't like Sabaton music. Because so many do not know. They may have heard of Paschendale, but they don't know beyond that it happened during WW1.

It is sad that Sabaton aren't bigger then they are, but I think they are a lot bigger than you think they are, not in the US but in Poland, Sweden and a few other european countries they are massive, I mean, they managed to get a spot on the woodstock stage with a crowd of over a million people
