One of my favorite Sabaton songs due to the epic sound but mostly due to the incredible lyrics. I have studied the lyrics to both "Purple Heart" and "Night Child" and find both to be very compelling. "Purple Heart" is obviously an ode to fallen heroes while "Night Child can be interpreted in a variety of ways (I see something different almost every time I read the lyrics). I Find it interesting that neither Joakim or Par has any idea what they were trying to say with that version.
BTW, the quote "Only the dead have seen the end of war.” is generally attributed to Plato but no one has found evidence of it in his writings. It appears the first actual appearance of the quote seems to be in the 1922 book “Soliloquies in England and Later Soliloquies" by George Santayana where he writes "Only the dead are safe; only the dead have seen the end of war.” The quote wa famously used by Douglas MacArthur in an1962 address to West point cadets, where he attributes it to Plato.
I do have one complaint about the video; they seem to show Civil War soldiers, but the Purple Heart was never awarded during that conflict. The origin of the Purple Heart Medal was George Washington, who created the Badge of Military Merit for soldiers who served in the Revolutionary War and showed gallantry and essential service. It was never awarded after the end of the Revolutionary War. The current Purple Heart Medal was authorized in 1932 for soldiers wounded or killed in action and veterans of WW1 were made eligible to receive it.

History needs more time in education, I feel like we learn too little over all. As if the very subject of conflict will cause hurt feelings in the classroom. Come on. How can we learn fro mhistory if we don't teach it?

Yes! I think history is the most important subject in the long run. People say we need to learn from history to prevent repeating it but I'm seeing it repeat either way..
