Boat and Kayak (BK) fishing.
Thanks for checking out the channel. My name is Terry and I'm just your average middle aged Aussie bloke, born and raised in Adelaide who likes to go out fishing. I discovered kayak fishing a couple of years ago and try to head out weekly, work and weather permitting to the Metro areas around Adelaide. I started this channel because of the many questions I would receive every time I posted a picture on social media. Thanks for stopping by.

Mixed bag at Glenelg with Alvin.
Thank you for watching. Loving the boat and being able to take out family and friends. Still learning the ropes but I'm really excited to be able to fish different areas I was unable to go to in the Kayak. Stay safe on the water, and thanks for watching, Terry

I hadn't taken the kayak out since Torrens Island but have been out in the boat a few times with family and friends. Still trying to work out the best way to capture footage on the boat using a phone and Gopro. I was fishing Adelaide metro waters at West Beach, Glenelg, Brighton and Seacliff. The last bit of footage I managed to get Chloe onto 22 squid a few crabs and a few whiting in fantastic...

I head out to the very scenic Rapid Bay in hope of a good catch. Unfortunately things didn't go to plan but I had a wonderful time exploring the amazing coast line. I also had a couple of very good friends from Japan stay with me. I've known one of them for nearly 30 years. For one it was their first time in Australia. I hope I helped build some great memories for them. Thanks for watching. Tra...
Boating adventures - West Beach to Seacliff.
zhlédnutí 847Před 4 měsíci
Watch a couple of middle aged loudmouths head out from West Beach boat ramp on the hunt for blue swimmer crabs. I was very happy to take my friend Lee out fishing as the past two times out he went home without catching anything. We enjoyed the beautiful weather and ended up bagging out on crabs.
My friend caught zero crabs. Have they all gone?
zhlédnutí 582Před 4 měsíci
A good friend of mine had a solo outing on his kayak to Seacliff, to try to catch squid and crabs. He was unsuccessful and went home empty handed. He then watched my previous video where I caught my bag limit of twenty crabs and decided to try again the next day. My friend went home again with zero crabs. What was he doing wrong?

Lots of reports of large numbers of crabs being caught right along the metro coast. One of my good friends ventured out to Seacliff only a couple of days ago only to come home empty handed. I venture out to see what was going on.

Just found your site and subbed to it, really good video, I have a 10ft tinny with a trolling motor good fun on the S/T's on a sunday afternoon.
Hey Greg, thanks for the Sub and compliment, its much appreciated. Yep great fun out there and a great sheltered spot to go to when the swell is up. Thanks for watching. Terry
That used to be the only boat ramp for Adelaide in the 1960s, there used to be a servo on the wharf and all the cars and trailers parked where the new cars are stored, there were no fences, people could park on the wharf and go crabbing or fishing, just bit of history
To many great whites visit seacliff certain times of the year not sure I’d fish there in a kayak
I am old enough to have fished along the entire rock wall north of the boat ramp long before 'ANYTHING ' was built there. I have also fished and spear fished along the back wall "UNDER" the pier where the ships berth, when ships were berthed. So what you have today is nothing as good as what I and others my age had to play in. Progress sometimes is not a good thing.
Yep, another example of "the good old days". Unfortunately, we just have to do the best with what we've got now.
Love the video But please tighten your drag lol 😅😅 For future reference, replace all double clutch trebles with bkk fangs 63ua size 8 you wont regret it.
Yeah I replaced the trebles on the smaller double clutch. The original trebles were rubbish.
Too many whites visit seacliff over the summer months to be on a yak
Great content , keep it up, what type of hooks you running , size, style ?
Thanks mate. I was using a paternoster style setup with long shank J hooks size 6. Thanks for watching.
great looking boat, 5m ? great day out & congrats on the flattie
Thanks mate, its a Quintrex 470, Big enough for me as its my first boat and easy to launch myself.
@@kayakfishingins.a4327 Cool, mines a Stacer 4.3m & yep, makes it easy to launch.
Wow , Samaki lure for $20 wrap it up Ill take it.
Yeah it's caught me a lot of fish 👍😄
Another great vid Terry, thanks for posting. Looks like you’re loving the boat!
Thanks mate, yep loving it. Might get another kayak in the warmer months but for the moment its the boat 😄
Love outer harbour on the rocks when you walk out far. A kayak would make it a hell of a lot easier 👌
Yeah getting out there on the kayak is pretty easy. I just started with a used $250 kayak and was hooked.
Great session! What part of the tide did you get the fish?
Thanks mate. I always seem to do well with the whiting on the incoming tide. I left home later than usual to specifically fish the incoming tide.
Had a fantastic day on the water Terry and now you got me onto whiting as well. Thanks a ton again for sharing the day. Cheers
My pleasure Alvin, so happy to help get you onto your first whiting. I hope you enjoyed your seafood dinner with your family.
Great video thanks for sharing. I owned the same boat for twenty years and was by far the best boat I have owned.
Its my first boat so still learning the ropes. Its just the right size for me to launch and retrieve by myself. Thanks for watching.
great day out with Al , and a PB on flatties too , ,nice work Terry ,got a bit choppy at the end ,getting tossed around a bit there , thanks for sharing :)
Yeah got a bit uncomfortable towards the end but had a great day anyway.
Go buy a bit of PVC pipe and a matching end cap, glue the end cap on. run a ruler down the inside mark 32cms cut the length and there you go if they are under just flick em back into the water. Much better than them flipping out your hands when putting them upto your ruler sticker.
Brilliant idea, thanks. I'll make one during the week. Thanks for watching.
Love this Vid. What size is your boat Terry?
Thanks mate, My boat is a 2009 Quintrex 470.
Bugga that too many whites frequent seacliff certain time of year
What about great whites surley you must worry about being in a kayak
Hi Terry, does that $10 hard body catch Bream aswell?
Maybe, never tried it for bream to tell you the truth, only tried it for trolling. Thanks for watching.
@@kayakfishingins.a4327 All good.
Beware the whites not sure I’d be out there in a kayak
Lot of whites around that area buggered if I’d be out on a kayak there
remember the first time i went to bcf and asked to buy some pitch for my boat,we dont sell that here, well i used resources to go there,so i said well the ad should be changed to we have nearly everything for boating, fishing and camping.lol
“Fantastic video! I’m not the most skilled with these kinds of tasks. Could you share the length of the pipe used and suggest where I might find one similar to what was shown?”
Hi thank you for your comment. I sold that kayak but it didn't really matter of the exact length it just needed to be past the paddle holders. I'm in South Australia and not sure where you're from. I know you can buy aluminum tubes from a hardware store or metal supplier. It wasnt very hard to do and I pretty much only needed a drill and a hand saw. Good luck with it. Terry
Hi Terry, congratulations for the boat. That is improve. If one day you need a fishing partner, that will be awesome privilege for me, with the kayas or your boat. Caesar.
Hey mate, thank you very much for watching. I just have the boat now as I sold my kayak. I will usually go out on a Thursday or Friday as that's when I have a day off. Usually I only make a decision to go out the night before with the last updated weather report, so it can be very short notice. Even then sometimes the weather is worse than predicted and the trip gets cut short. Terry
Hey there. I been watching all your videos. I just bought kayak after watching your chancel. Would love to meet and do kayak session with you. I am also from adelaide
Hi mate, thank you so much for watching, I really appreciate it. Unfortunately I sold my kayak and just have to boat at the moment. I might get another kayak in the future when summer come back around. Terry
I love your videos and always love to see what you have been catching lately, but i was just wondering where about's did you catch all your whiting because me and dad love getting onto some good whiting.
Hello mate, thank you very much for watching and your kind comments. Every single whiting on this video and the previous video were caught just off Glenelg. I anchor up in-between the jetty and the blocks. You will see where I am here czcams.com/video/EPHVgWF0JCs/video.html
@@kayakfishingins.a4327 thank you so much! we have been looking for a good whiting spot for ages. look forward to seeing all the videos to come.
@@CooperClayfield Good luck out there. Also I did burley up a bit to bring them in.
Hey nice work. I’ve been trolling around that area many times over the years and never seen a snook…. Is there a best time of year?
Hi mate, I also have this video and noticed it one was in march and the other in April. To tell you the truth Im not 100% sure if snook are seasonal. I always get them in the channel heading north. czcams.com/video/YVkwa3NCBEw/video.html
Great day. They might not be what you're targeting but it's good to see all the Snapper around and the ban on taking them seems to be paying off.
For sure. I caught more that I didn't add to the video. Had to move to get away from them. Would have loved to get onto a bigger model just for fun. Thanks for watching.
another ripper video
Thanks mate, appreciate your comment.
awesome mate great to see you out have a ball with the family , we went out today baged on ST a few whitting as well no squid to much weed up our way , catch up soon :)
Glad to hear you were able to head out as well. I bet the ST kept you busy. I loved to catch the ST but now I've been spoilt with the salmon at Glenelg.
Beautiful calm conditions. Certainly more options with a boat than a kayak!
Yeah for sure. I did love kayak fishing but definitely more options with the boat as well as being able to take my daughters out. Thanks for watching.
Just 2 let you know your only allowed to fish 2 rods per person in south australia as per pirsa.
Ok thanks.
Being new to SA I had no idea about the 2 rod per person use limit. At first I didn’t believe it so I checked and milan1066 is dead right, so thanks for the info, glad you mentioned it
really? I had no idea
Great content keep it up, what’s the specs on the boat length outboard age etc
Thanks mate, 2009 Quintrex 470, Mercury 60hp EFI 4 stroke.

Sure was. It was great to be out.
Great vid Terry , just what you wanted out fishing with the family Chloe was having a great time ,great to watch, the boat is working a treat for you , you look so happy mate :) catch up soon , were off to Myponga tomorrow for shore fish , 4 weeks to go still till i can boat and kayak fish dam :)
Thanks John, yeah exactly right, got the boat to spend some time with family and friends and build some memories with my daughters. Chloe absolutely loves it out there.
Nice vid. I'm also from Adelaide. Mostly land based fishing. I just recently started fishing. The most I had so far is just 1 squid from brighton.
Hi mate, thanks for watching. I also started land based fishing but also only got very mixed results. It was either having to travel far or contend with over crowded metro jetties. I ended up just getting a used kayak for $250 that came with everything I needed to hit the water. It opened up a whole new world of fishing for me and I've never looked back.
Good to see you taking out Serge, another great video
Thank you mate. Yeah the poor bloke has had a lot on his plate lately so I thought I would get him out with my uncle as they are both of similar age. Thank you for watching and commenting. Terry
Nice one, good mixed bag. When fishing for whiting out from Glenelg what depth do you usually fish and what berley works for you?
Hi mate, the last few trips I was just using those whiting nuts that I got from Tackle world and put them into a weighted berley pot. All the whiting were caught in between the Glenelg jetty and the blocks in 4-5meters. Sometimes as you saw you have to contend with the baby snapper but at least you don't get all the leatherjackets come around. thank you for watching. Terry
@@kayakfishingins.a4327 yeah I find the leatheries more of a plague than snapper!
Great work T need to get out to seacliff and glenelg been a long time.
Yeah Alvin, get out there, looks like the squid are coming back in bigger numbers now.
nice work mate just great to see another vid from you been hanging out
Thank you Tony, really appreciate it mate.
2 sessions in a day that's keen but what a great session! You've got a Compass as well your Outback? What do you think of the seagrass green colour is it harder to keep clean or any downsides compared to orange papaya?
Hi mate, thanks for the comment. I sold the compass and PA14 and now just have a 2023 Outback in papaya. Many people love the compass but for me the seat was very uncomfortable and it is definitely made on the cheap if compared to the Outback. The Compass is good value if you can get one for around the $2k-$2.5k but then the seat on the 2015-2018 Outback is better for the same sort of money. I sometimes spent up to 8 hours on the water so I need a good seat. The PA seat is the best but the kayak is a bit of a tank. I've now had 15 Hobie kayaks, Revo13, Compass, Outbacks of different models and Pro Anglers. The seagrass green was harder to keep clean than the other colours I've had.
@@kayakfishingins.a4327 that's a lot of kayaks and a lot of experience! Yes I've heard others say the same thing about the seagrass green. Nice colour though..

Yes thats right Boat and Kayak fishing now. Still have to work out the best way to film on the boat, been struggling with it a bit.
Nice work mate ✌️
Thanks for watching mate.
I know this is an older vid but found a few ideas very helpful (I live in Mount Barker so the ocean isn't close!). As others mentioned the only thing to double check is where the weather is being measured. Ours is taken from MtLofty 18km away according to Willy Weather... Wirrina's weather is taken from the forest well inland.... again according to Willy Weather. Definitely need to suss the surf life saving club cams. Swell Net also has subscription cams for all the main surf breaks 👍🏼
Hi mate, thanks for commenting. Its very frustrating when you plan a trip then the weather man gets it wrong. I've been caught out many times in some pretty bad conditions.
Just found your channel, very enjoyable, great that you're doing places most can access.
Hi mate, thanks for watching. Yeah I'm in my 50s now so its got to be a pretty easy launch for me as well. I also want to try some new places soon, time permitting.
@@kayakfishingins.a4327 I'm all for easy launching, 65 years old and retired.
Hi Terry, are there any great whites there? Im just wondering is it safe to go out that deep i probably would not but if there are no dangerous sharks there then i might go that deep amazing vid!
Hey mate, thanks for watching. I have never seen a big shark but obviously they do live in the ocean. I know a guy who has been kayak fishing for 14 years and he has also never had an encounter with one. Once you've been out a few times I think the fear will subside.
Thanks so much
G'day there, just find your channel. Loving the content as I grew up fishing those waters. However, now love in another part of Aus. Fishing the edge of the O/H channel at this time of year used to big snapper time! They'd still be there, unfortunately you can't target them at this time. Equally, 10 to 20Lb mullies can be target where you fished in this Vlog, I used to target them out of a bass canoe. Feel free to contact me and I'd be happy to steer you in the right direction. Let me know how to contact you. Maybe on messanger of you have it. Cheers🎣
Hi mate, thanks for watching and commenting. I've heard from a few old timers (not so young myself) that there used to be a lot of good snapper, Mulloway and Kingfish around the area and in the Port river itself. Not too sure about now days but would love to target those fish including snapper if the ban ever gets lifted. tvahoumis@gmail.com
they say if you drink enough vodka you can travel to the future lol
If you're a bit more patient and hold squid in the water for 20 seconds or so longer at the surface using your rod to direct them away from you, they will squirt out the last of their ink and you don't get nailed by it. Works on jetty's too. Saves pissing about with the mess.
Yeah thats a good idea unless youre having squid fights on the boat like we did a couple of weeks ago. We couldnt stop laughing.
@@kayakfishingins.a4327 Haha sounds messy! 😂
