thanks for posting this. i have the exact model and the exact problem. would you be able to share the printed instructions with me? i installed the handle but there's no movement at all - the latch isn't moving . thank you
Sorry, I no longer have the instructions.
They sell pads on Amazon that I use where my slide rollers come in.
When I looked they were very expensive and much thicker than what Newmar had supplied. Glad that they are working for you.
The linkage arm where you said it would just fall out when removing latch does it not have a keeper or clip to hold it on at the bottom?
Mine didn't have a bottom clip. Good luck with your project. Thanks for subscribing.
@@youcantoorv9860 yes i dont think mine has that clip either. Maybe the bracket holds it in place. Ebay delivered me the new door handle next step is to dig into the door and install it. Thankyou for the detailed video very helpful!
Thanks. If the ones I bought don't work, I'll try your solution.
What is the material? ABS like the original or something else? I don't see the link posted.
Hi Tim, Yes, it's ABS. The link is in the video description. Be sure to read my note regarding cutting back the felt so that you can stick the fuzzy side on the pad. Good luck, and thanks for subscribing.
Hello , great video we have the same problem on our Newmar 2015 4366 Dutchstar. Question i also have a problem with the screen in the door coming out of the track , any fix for that ? Thanks
I think that you are referring to the top portion. Ours comes out also. To "fix" itn I slowly retract it, moving it up and down until it fully winds up. Then I slowly pull it down and retract it a few times. This seems to retrain the screen. Then the obvious is to do this again anytime that you see that someone has touched it. Hope that this helps, and thanks for subscribing!
@@youcantoorv9860That is what I do now , was hoping you found a permanent solution! Thx
I have an almost identical RV. Two questions. what is your freon suppose to be filled to? I have evans condenser RV218276 I can't tell if this is a parallel flow or fin and tube condenser.
I am certainly a layman and relied heavily on the Evans Tempcon manual to determine the proper operating pressures. I strongly urge you to download the manual and determine the proper pressures for your motorhome. Good luck, and thanks for watching.
@@youcantoorv9860 No problem thanks, my question comes directly from the manual because I have a Spartan front condenser and if I can figure out if it’s a fin tube or parallel condenser then I know how much freon it’s supposed to have. I have a vacuum on the low side when checking operating pressure, so I believe there’s a blockage somewhere.
Have you changed your drier? They will cause blockage.
Yes I changed the filter drier and I didn't have negative pressure. All I did was vacuum the lines for 1 hour and I swapped out the valve stem on the high pressure side. Maybe I need to change the drier again. The first compressor did lock up so maybe there's still some shavings in there. @@youcantoorv9860
I didn't experience anything like this. Good luck with your repair.
As a master tech, that was painful to watch. The first 5 tests you did could be completed by just jumping the solenoid. 120✓ water in ✓ water in ice tray✓ solenoid working✓ . I don't even have to watch any more then the 1st 2 mins. I'd say your mech is shot. You can also jump the mechanism to easily test that. Typically a 14-12 ga wire to test each feature and timing.
I never pretend to be a master of anything. I think that the video helps people to understand how the icemaker works (or doesn't). We amateurs aren't always after the quickest path when in DYI mode. However, we certainly appreciate quick when we're paying shop rate.
@@youcantoorv9860 No need in to pretend. It's an RVIA certification that's only earned. By few
Hi Do you go to the borders of Alaska and Canada at the Pacific Ocean?
The closest we got to that area was the border between Hyder Ak and Stewart BC. Thanks for subscribing
Yeah, you did gorgeous traveling! have a nice day, 🎥
Thanks for watching and subscribing
Thanks for the video. I'm repairing a portable version for my brother for his office and its almost identical. I was wondering what the purpose of the mastic is for. Is it to seal the heat from the heater element from entering the ice tray space and melting the ice?
Hi and thanks for subscribing. The mastic is to aid with heat transfer (in physics there's no such thing as cold). It's pretty important in transferring the heat to the evaporator. Good luck
PHIL! How are you doing? I was really surprised to see you in this video. Jim (The '73 Step Side). I have a 2005 Bounder 34M that had the refrigerant leak out through a low pressure hose in the front next to the generator. Oil on the rubber at where the metal end is attached it makes me certain that's the problem. I took it to have a new hose installed & the threads on the evaporator are disintegrated. The A/C shop doesn't get into that with RVs. The Freightliner shop said 10 hours labor, which sounds pretty high. I have a friend who is a certified (and very good) welder. I think he can weld a new male threaded piece onto the old one. Probably either weld on another aluminum end like what's there now, or braze on a brass fitting. What do you think? I need a new hose made at the A/C shop anyway.
Sounds like quite the repair. Thanks for watching and subscribing. BTW, I'm Dan. Phil is my buddy who appears in many of my videos.
@@youcantoorv9860 Tell him I said hello. We worked together for a few years & he bought a pickup from me.
Thanks for posting. We have a 2003 Newmar Dutch Star D.P. I replaced that device at the top of the door that holds it open so the wind won't slam it shut, last year. Now I need to find out how to disassemble the basement doors so I fix some delamination between the outer skin and the foam core. Apparently(according to Newmar), everything is glued with Stika adhesive. Safe travels
Thanks for subscribing. Fortunately (for me) I don't have experience with basement door desalination. Good luck!
Do you have a video on removing the screen door latch
Hi Marcus, no I haven't needed to work on my screen door latch yet. You should be able to buy a replacement from PTL, who builds most of the doors. Mine is attached with two screws. Thanks for subscribing.
Can you let me how you wired it? I have a red, yellow, brown, white, thick black and thin black wire on the plug side. The unit has all the same colors except of a thin black it has a yellow with green wire. Did you just hook that up to the thin black wire? TIA
As I recall the yellow/green wire is a ground wire that wasn't on the original. I found someplace to attach it to the frame of the icemaker unit. Thanks for subscribing
Thanks a million for the helpful option here. JR New Aire 3543
I'm about to put out an update. I experienced the felt not holding up to the velcro. I cut back the felt and put the fuzzy velcro pad directly on the plastic sheet. I've been testing, and it's holding up well and easy-to-use. Thanks for subscribing!
OK I believe you can help me out because my RV is similar to the one in this video. I just bought a used 2003 Newmar Dutch Star 8.3L, ISC 350. Dash AC blows hot air. I tried to add freon and the compressor sized up. I have replaced the compressor and need to replace the receiver drier. I don't know where it is and what part number I need. I know I have an Evans system. I purchased a vacuum and plan on blowing compressed air through the lines. Can you help me find my AC drier?
Sure. Open up the generator compartment and look on the passenger side. It's near the service ports that we accessed in the video. Be sure to evacuate your system before adding freon. Good luck, and thanks for subscribing.
@@youcantoorv9860 thanks a million
@@youcantoorv9860 I have evacuated the system added freon, watched the compressor clutch engage, low pressure hose cold, dash air hot. Do you know when I can find the heater control valve?
It is part of the Evans unit. The easiest and surefire thing to do is to install a ball valve in the heater hose. This allows you to shut off 100% of hot water and ensure that your AC works it's best.
@@youcantoorv9860 awesome. How do I identify the heater hose. Don’t want to cut the wrong hose and do you know the size of the hose?
Very informative video, thanks. I had to have my AC compressor replaced while on a trip. (it seized up) When we went to charge the system, we could not get the compressor light to come on at our control unit. Hence, we could not get the compressor to come on. I've looked for fuses (found it, it was good) and I looked for a low pressure cut off switch. I searched high and low and cannot find the low pressure switch. I'm driving a 2009 Fleetwood Discovery 40X. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks for your kind feedback. I'm not sure where to valve would be located. I find a lot of vehicle specific information in FB groups from others dealing with similar issues. You might try there. Good luck and happy motoring.
What is the number to the place you called for parts?
Hi Josh, you can find the contact information in the video description. Good luck with your repair.
How much?
About $3500
Smooth drawers
So far we like them, as long as we remember to push them before pulling them to open. I may convert some other drawers also.
Great to see that you’re back to videos. I used some on the last Arizona trip.
Thanks Swamper. I always appreciate hearing from viewers. Safe travels!
Very nice video, well done. Thinking about doing this on my 2017 DS.
To be honest, this is the first time that I have changed drawer slides. It was simple once I found the slides and did a little trial and error on the first drawer. Something that I didn't show was marking the drawer location with a piece of tape so that it gets put back correctly. Thanks for subscribing
Does it hook up to all vehicles like this?
Not every vehicle can be flat towed due to drive train design. Consult your owners manual to determine if your vehicle is flat towable.
@@youcantoorv9860 thank you
I hope that you will subscribe to my channel
I installed a new ice maker in my Norcold. Temp gets to 6. I checked back on it and nothing but water in the container. Took the ice maker out out of frustration. Turned frig off. Left freezer door open. A day later, with no ice maker and the frig off, it had pumped about 3 inches of water into the compartment. Water pump was on. What gives? Solenoid?
It sounds like the solenoid valve isn't closing. The valve should only open when it's energized by the icemaker. Confirm that solenoid isn't energized, if water is passing the valve is bad. Be careful it's 120VAC!
Thank you for the carpet tip. You were right, we did track it down it is mohawk. Follow up question if you don't mind. How's the carpet holding up from the rollers of the slide out? We want to get the same carpet and the color is called Carmelita
Certainly, the rollers create dents in the carpet, but no wear or tearing. Happy motoring.
This is most ridiculous thing I have seen in a while.
I pray you see this comment, I have a question, one that I thought would've been a simple find, but I have searched the factory manual that came with our Coachman mirada f53 chassis. I have searched everywhere else, and no definitive answer anywhere. -under the dash on passenger side, at feet, is a vent. It has 2 reservoirs, a bottom one, and one that is above it, that has a flap that stas closed on a/c, and lays down on max a/c. On the front of the flap "was" wha I believe is a "sponge." Well, I looked through the vent cover, and water was dripping onto the sponges on the door flap, while on max A/c, so the flap was down. When I touched the "sponge" it was so brittle and crumbly it just scraped off. My question is, is water supposed to drip into those reservoirs that I can see I'm tha vent under dash? I ca feel air sucking into an inch wide hole in middle of reservoirs, one on bottom, and one on top on other side of door flap. Also, whe I go under hood, the black box, has a nipple that is leaking the water, ad I had to attach a hose to it so it would stop running all over the battery, but the black box is dripping water from around the seals/edges as well. So the water that's dripping from that nipple, is it coming from those reservoirs inside that black box? It's the same spot that I see in your video where that silver round thing is hanging, and the nipple where I attached that hose, is hanging right behind that silver metal round part. And also, when searching this up, what is Tha vent or system actually called so I can find a diagram for it, or video. Thanks so much
It sounds like you are discussing condensation, which is perfectly normal. The amount of condensation varies according to the humidity. This is only a problem if the "black box" doesn't drain. A wet dark box is ideal for the growth of mold. Condensation dripping or flowing from your AC is a healthy sign that everything is working.
Most RV sash AC units were made by Evans Tempcon. You can Google them and hopefully find the parts that you are looking for. Good luck
So our splendid 2100 handle just broke today and I have clothes inside and I guess you have to really work on that latch to get it to open before you can replace it. 🤔 When we ordered the part, the price had gone up considerably with the price of the part in the shipping it came to about $80
As I recall I had to use a butter knife (a screwdriver 🪛 would work) to force the latch open. It was rather difficult. Basically pushing at the break to rotate it. After replacing the latch, I added a sticker that said, "open with one finger." Good luck with your repair.
Looks like someone been taking drone lessons.
Yeah, it was a fun place to fly.
Someone’s frisky.
Is that carpet from factory or did you redo it? Do you recall what pattern and color it is?
We replaced the carpet throughout the coach. I'm sorry but I don't recall anything other than it was by Mohawk and maybe "mushroom" as of the color description. Thanks for watching.
Thank you very much your video was extremely helpful.
Thank you for your feedback.
Hi Dan i have opend the u line ice maker module to change a microswitch. there is a spring on shut off arm now loose!! any idea how it should be put back so the arm function properly. thanks a lot
I can't offer advice, as I have never disassembled module. Good luck
Do you take off the drive shaft?
No need, I just have to put the transfer case into neutral so that everything spins. It's important to check the owner manual, as some vehicles won't self lubricate when being towed.
hi Dan i am rying to remove this u line ice maker shut off arm. is there a way to do it? tried to push it out in up position , it did not. thanks
It's basically a bent wire which relies on friction to hold it place. I'd use pliers to grip it. Good luck.
hi Dan, sorry to bother you i have replace the whole ice maker with new one as per ur video Itwas working fine till recently stopped making ice. Checked water valve as you directed to Norcold Video. all good. now it makes Ice but does not dispense it!! any suggestions? Thanks
Hopefully you can get it replaced by warranty! Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Best wishes.
Safety is for people with low breeding.

which way you turn the temperature knob to make it cold

Clockwise is colder
I replaced the ice maker and was working fine then all of a sudden stopped making ice! any suggestion
Check out my video about diagnosing a Norcold icemaker. The principles are the same. Is it cold enough? Do you have water? Is the solenoid working? Good luck.
What size is the bolt 1 inch?
It's actually 1-1/2 inches! Good luck and please consider subscribing.
Thank you Is the check valve also 1 1/2
If you are referring to the safety pressure relief valve; I haven't removed one, so I'm not sure. You can open this valve by using the lever.
It's actually 1 1/16
I stand corrected. I searched online for the answer and bad info.
now only made one batch in 10 hours ? any way to expedite shorter time period to make ice?. Thanks
Temperature is what dictates the speed. Remove the front louvered on the bottom. You will find a knob that you can use to control the 🌡. I recommend temporarily placing a thermometer inside to monitor the temperature. My ice maker has temperature of about 10°F.
H9 Dan I replace the old ice maker with new one as you instructed in your video. Now it makes ice but does not dispense it to the Ice tray. any suggestion? really appreciated.
It sounds like you may have a defective unit. The timing mechanism should turn on the heater and eject the ice. Hopefully you can get a warranty replacement.
where did you get the step material?
Hi Sarah. I put links in the video description. Good luck with your project.
Beautiful
Yes it is, now I understand why so many people move there.
@@youcantoorv9860 yes sir
how do you make sure the temp probe goes to right place in ice maker when you insert in?
I recall that mine went in easily. The purpose of the probe is to measure the temperature of the ice mold. Look at the old one and you can see where it belongs. Good luck!
thanks
ok, so I can tell you have an old Evans AC evap system. the engineering on these were somewhere between terrible and awful. first, I can see your vent doors are open. I suggest that you permanently close these. I screwed mine shut and then taped over them with some real furnace tape. that keeps the input air from the front of the coach from entering the evap/heater core box.... cold or hot, the AC system is forced to draw the air from inside the coach.... You can even put a filter over the intake....2nd, I replaced my valve with a spring valve new from amazon. so when power is applied it opens fully and I can heat the front of the coach and when it is closed the AC temps reduced. The original valves are poorly designed, often don't close completely and only open 5/16" so one freezes in the winter. Price is stupid high..... lastly, there are newer other coolants that can be used in these old AC systems. I use enviro safe, and my output temp from my dash vents is 36 degrees. Yes, you read that correctly....36 degrees... we carry around with us 30 gallons of propane so don't bother with the Closed AC system will explode bit... I cool the entire front of the coach 2/3rds of the coach... no need for a drape.
Thanks for the advice. We're currently in the Yukon heading for Alaska. I'll work through this before next spring.
Thanks Dan
My uline does not make ice . It gets cold enough but no ice. Replaced the water solonoid valve no ice cube. Any idea. This unit old enough
The icemaker assembly controls the solenoid. I suspect that the controller portion of the icemaker is bad. Check out my video about the norcold icemaker. The trouble shooting process is the same. Although the replacement Uline icemaker assembly is expensive, it's a fraction of the cost of replacing the entire unit. Good luck.
