  • After finding that the old flooded lead-acid batteries need to be changed, Bob, Phil, and Dan volunteer to help Shane and Lorretta upgrade to Absorbed Glass Matt (AGM) batteries. Tips are shared that will help you to avoid some common pitfalls. Removing the old mounting system was the most time-consuming part of the project. Do not attempt this project if you don't feel confident that you can do so safely.

Supposed to always disconnect negative first and connect negative last, just sayin

I had never heard that. It will be a new rule that I follow. Thanks

How you can tell if a particular car can be upgraded from led acid to AGM? Aren't their possible issues with the alternator not charging an AGM properly on a car designed long before AGM?

This would require more research, but in my experience, alternators don't put out the higher voltages that AGMs don't like. For instance motorhome alternators charge all batteries when the engine is running. Be sure to do more research regarding your application.

Consult the battery manufacturer for compatibility information.
