That time when Vietnam Declared a War of JIHAD
🤝Support the Channel on Patreon: www.patreon.com/OmarOfTheOrient
Dive into the untold story of the Kingdom of Champa in Vietnam, where a significant yet largely forgotten chapter of history unfolded, leading to Vietnam's first and only war of jihad.
In the late 600s, as Islam spread through the maritime trade routes of Southeast Asia, the Hindu kingdom of Champa stood on the brink of a monumental transformation. Influenced by Muslim merchants, many locals, including members of the royal family, embraced Islam, setting the stage for a dramatic shift in the region's religious and cultural landscape.
This video explores the centuries-long conflict between Champa and its northern neighbor, Đại Việt, culminating in a desperate struggle for survival and identity.
Witness the resilience of the Cham people as they defended their last bastions, Panduranga and Kauthara, against Đại Việt's conquests, and how their conversion to Islam became a beacon of hope and defiance.
Join us as we unveil the story of Champa's last stand, the spread of Islam among the Cham people, and the historic war of jihad that marked the zenith of their resistance against assimilation and conquest.

You are full of sh!t when you said the Vietnamese drove the Chinese out. The Vietnamese didn't defeat the Ming, but it was the son of Zhu Di that reversed all Yongle policies and started internal looking. In fact, the Yongle Emperor captured Le Loi multiple times and giving him official title. It was the interna looking Hongxi Emperor of Ming completely withdrawal from outside activities that give Le Loi a chance to declare independent without any real fight. Zheng He was also a Muslem, and he might be the one introduced Islam to Indonesia and Malaysia on his seven voyages under Emperor Zhu Di. Before Zheng He voyages, Indonesia and Malaysia were just like Cambodia with Buddha and Hindu religions.

but don’t forget about the uighurs, kazakhs and karluk (uzbek) christians long before the advent of muslims, central asia was one of the centers of nestorianism, with numerous communities and even metropolitans. this is evidenced by arabic-speaking scholars at-tabari, ibn-huakal, al-biruni and others. in his work “information of ancient peoples,” al-biruni indicated that before the arab conquest, in samarkand there was an influential nestorian episcopate “nasoro, headed by mobad-dastur nastori.” he considered the nestorians one of the most civilized religious movements (1). according to al-biruni, the nestorians were in the city of merv (mary, turkmenistan) after 200 ad (2). according to mahmud kashgari, in the southeastern deshti kipchak, the uzgen kingdom and the uyghur khaganate, the msikha communities with their center in sogd flourished (3). the mongols knew the uyghurs as christians, so kubulai khan ordered two nestorian uyghurs to go to jerusalem to worship msikh. orthodox sources date the emergence of christianity in central asia to the 1st century, confirming the data of available sources of western researchers about the missionary journey of thomas to india through central asia. already in the middle of the 1st century, evangelists penetrated into the territory of kyrgyzstan, who founded a powerful central asian community in the 4th century

It was the Chinese that converted the Melayu People to Islam. Emperor Hong Wu, of Ming dynasty, Whom defeated the Mongols with the assistance of Chinese Muslims was close friends with Paramiswara, The Maharaja of Srivijaya. Emperor Hong Wu assisted Paramiswara in repelling Majapahit attacks on Singapura by sending soldiers and weapons. Singapura fell by treachery. A village chieftain betrayed the King by opening the the gates of the palace for the enemies to outflank the royal defences. Emperor Hong Wu’s father in law was a Muslim General that assisted Emperor Hong Wu in defeating the Mongols. Emperor Hong Wu married his firstborn daughter to Paramiswara whom was a Muslim. Paramiswara converted to Islam because of this and in turn, all his fellow subjects followed suit. Ming Dynasty fell shortly after due to internal strife between Emperor Hong Wu’s grandson Emperor Jian Wen and his uncle Zhu Di. Upon the fall of Ming, Emperor Jian Wen together with his son Zhu Wen Kui settled in Melaka because his Aunt was the Queen of Malacca. The bond between Ming Royal Family and Srivijayan Royalty are inextricably bound from that moment onwards. All of whom, live a life of a commoner today.
