People who doesn't know much about the history of Malaysia even most Malaysian are often surprised that before WWII the Malay Sultanate often had Japanese people working and living in the Malay Peninsula and the Malay Sultanate had diplomatic relations with the Japanese kingdom/government. I only know about Japanese people living in the Malay Sultanate pre-WWII because I got bored and tried to read about Baju Melayu (Traditional Malay clothing... Yes, I was really bored at that time) on Wikipedia before coming across the Yutaka Tani Wiki page.
The history textbook in school only teaches us about the diplomatic relationship between the Malacca Sultanate and the Ryukyu Kingdom and sadly only about that in regards to the Malay Sultanate's relationship with the Japanese. They never elaborate much about it in the textbook.
Speaking about diplomatic relations. Fun fact, my state of Kelantan even has diplomatic relations with the Ottoman Empire and Austria-Hungary, even the car drivers for Sultan Muhammad IV [1870-1920] is a Turk and a Austria-Hungary.

Salam brother. Tq for the coverage. The story of Tani Yutaka was very sad. His family’s business premise were burned down and his sister was gang raped and killed by Chinese gang. The British authority delayed the justice for his sister..Yutaka was extremely devastated and that’s when he recruited many of his Malay friends and form the gang. Like u mentioned, they stole from the Chinese rich gangs and distributed to the poor Malay.
Edit: In 1943 Japanese made a movie about him called Marai no Tora ( The Malay tiger).

Correction- the Japanese weren't "threatened" by the British presence in Southeast Asia, they considered Britain a colonial rival to its imperialist expansionist aims in Asia and more importantly, sitting on the natural resources of Syonan's rubber and petroleum that they would need to make their East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere a reality. That was the whole point of the Mukden Incident instigated by the Kwantung Army- a pretext to begin seizing Chinese coastal territories, ports and cities which would enable them to more easily Strike South towards the Dutch East Indies and British Malaya and Borneo. Great story regardless.

Japan was almost a Muslim nation because one of the Emperor invited one of the Ottoman diplomats to spread Islam in Japan. There is also a story about how Japanese intended to create a sort of "neo-Ottoman" Empire in China, since both went to war against the British. Even the original Malay people were anti-colonists and fought against British, people like Mat Kilau and Tok Janggut.
Japan would have been a formidable force against the British Empire, but their ways were too violent and extreme. If only Islam had spread sufficiently, its actions would have been much more mild.

Alhamdulillah.. thanks for this only the Malays don't even know to how extend Brother Yutaka had helped the Malays more in getting justice in their own land in the fact that the British are the ones brought the Chinese in to plunder the local resources, giving them free lands as settlements and developing their infrastructures to monopolize the creation of town areas, giving headstart economy to them as their divide and conquer formula as they indigenous people wouldn't want to slave for them in the extraction of local wealth for their colonialist empire. The Japanese give some awareness of this evil doings by the British Imperialism but many still are ignorant about the real kniving history of the colonizers, held them high as Masters that modernized Malays instead of suppression of the indigenous people to grow and be controlling their own economy by bringing bandits and rebels to plow on the country's wealth. Now they are claiming not having equal rights as citizens despite the facts they have all the richness, freedom and control of all resources, supplies, logistics, financial and industries. The Malays are just plain ignorant and those educated delusionally thought they are doing better which they are just wishfully thinking. It would help much if the Japanese had stayed longer to correct the minds of this simple Malays. Anyways, I feel strongly grateful for people like Brother Yutaka. Many Malays don't even know him. They just say to please ☝️🏳️ Assalammualaikum...Muslims are mostly ignorant, irregardless of race and in this case, the Malays. And now they more even drifting away from the teaching which makes them even ignorant about what happened in the past and don't bother to dig down the lane and ask why they have come to today's humiliating stage.

Are you sure that Yutaka Tani only victimized "gangsters" and not law abiding Chinese people in Malaya ?

Are these the law abiding citizens who kidnapped, tortured and behead his sister and put her in the temple for everyone to see? You are inhumane for not caring about what happened to the girl and only worried about how your people are labeled? Do you know what terrorist is? These Chinese were the terrorists in Malaysia. You should be denouncing those Chinese murderers just like Muslims denounce terrorism.

Admin when you make this video, you don't know sentiment in Malaysians minds. They're not regarded Japanese as liberator but as oppressor. Because Malaysians thinks British doing good for them. Especially for giving Western education for nobilities and opportunities for Chinese capitalists. The sentiment were in contrast with Indonesians which regarded Japanese as their liberator from Dutch squeeezer that dried up Indonesian richness.

Don't generalize not all malays are pro British or pro japanese there are those that just opurtunist that want to get personal benefit with there foreign master..most of the Malays are patriot that want an independent Malay land which didn't happen and they have to settle with Malaysia sharing it with Chinese and indian immigrant.
