    Uncover the hidden history of a Muslim kingdom in Vietnam, a tale untold and buried beneath the sands of time. This documentary delves into the intriguing story of how Islam made its way to Vietnam through the bustling trade routes connecting Arabia, Somalia, Persia, India, and China. Discover the ancient Kingdom of Champa, where Muslim merchants laid the foundations of an Islamic community in the heart of Southeast Asia.
    Explore the complex tapestry of cultural and religious transformations, marriage alliances, and trade agreements that intertwined the fates of the Cham people with the broader Islamic world. Witness the dramatic rise and fall of Champa, from its zenith to its tragic demise at the hands of the Khmer Empire and later, the Đại Việt kingdom. Through wars, alliances, and the indomitable spirit of the Cham people, the legacy of Islam in Vietnam endured against all odds.
    Featuring insights into the influential roles played by the Mongol Empire's Muslim generals and governors, and the poignant account of Princess Huyen Tran's defiance against the Sati tradition, this video paints a vivid picture of a pivotal era in Southeast Asian history.
    The saga culminates in the resilient survival of Cham Muslims, who, despite the annihilation of their kingdom, spread across the region, keeping their faith and heritage alive. Join us on a journey back in time to discover the lost Muslim kingdom of Vietnam, a story of faith, resilience, and cultural confluence.

      If you watched the video and understand your ancestor's hertige, you will know that your historic identity isn't Islam. As clearly explained here, your lineage practiced native faith and local traditions before getting colonised through military power and annexation from invaders.
      It's ironic now when you talk about preserving traditions that entered from forceful conquests!

    • @aznpr1d3n
      @aznpr1d3n Před 3 měsíci +10

      @ekvembadi1036 Islam was introduced to Champa, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines etc. through trade, dawah. These Southeast Asian regions specifically were not colonized by forceful Islamic conquests as you state. Instead they were ruled by local sultanates - whose rulers were once Hindu, Buddhist, followed local traditions etc, but then converted to Islam and their people also followed. Actually, Islamization in Southeast Asia helped galvanized local people to revolt and fight against Western, Japanese, Chinese colonizers. Let me know and I can introduce some books to you about Islamic history in Southeast Asia. May peace be with you.

      @@aznpr1d3n The idea that indigenous people willfully changed their tradition, religion and way of life due to trade is false narrative.
      If you look at it intuitively, it sounds ludicrous that a person would alter their way of life merely cause of trade connection: today, many people use chinese goods, but we don't adopt chinese identity in return.
      It is well documented that islamic missionaries siezed power and persecuted indigenous people-whether it was Yazidis in Iraq or zoroastrians in Iran. People who didn't convert their faith and relinquish their native traditions were subjugated to higher taxes, slavery and prejudice. In southeast asia specifically, the rulers of the sultanate used Islam to validate power and control people through sharia law.
      To claim a lifestyle that originated in desert away from tropical south east asia as your own is a travesty of rich indigenous south asian heritage.

    • @aznpr1d3n
      @aznpr1d3n Před 3 měsíci +9

      @ekvembadi1036 Islam provided political and economic opportunities to strengthen trade, and the religion and opportunities was very attractive to rulers in SE Asia. In a SE Asian case, you see adoption of religion due to economic and political management in early Khmer Empire with the adoption of Hinduism and eventually Buddhism. Hinduism provided taxation and political management with the help of the Brahmin caste, in addition to a religious structure. You see similar practices in European Christendom as well. I don't understand what point you are trying to make re: "the rulers of the sultanate used Islam to validate power and control people through sharia law." Prior to liberal secularism, kingdoms often used religion to validate power and govern their constituents through religious codes. Some examples: Mandate of Heaven in China, Alexander the Great being the son of Zeus, and Suryavarman II in Angor Wat (modern day Siem Reap, Cambodia). Also, "Chinese" is not a religion - of course we wouldn't adopt Chinese identity, and the modern times are different. Islam is not an Arab religion or a desert religion, it's a religion for all humanity - and in fact, it beautifies our culture, history, and local traditions.

The town was a focal point of Cham people coming to Kelantan for trade and religious studies for centuries. Amazing video. I have been lucky enough to visit Vietnam a few times over the last few years and I found the people in the south i.e. Saigon aka Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC for short) to be very friendly and welcoming
    There are 4 mosques in HCMC within a 1.5 mile radius of each other, and you usually find many members of the 'Cham' ethnic group at these places along with small halal restaurants and cafes nearby selling traditional Vietnamese food
    Looks wise I found the majority of the Cham looked more like Indo-Malays with some being very dark like Bengalis. About 10-20% looked indistinguishable from the 'Viet' people who are the majority ethnic group of Vietnam
    All of them that I came across were Ahl as Sunna, but I am aware of the heterodox version of Islam that is followed in some rural areas. Alhamdulillah there was none of this funny business in HCMC and I was welcomed warmly by all that I came across, lots of smiles and curious questions. I also found that many of them spoke basic to intermediate levels of English, certainly more so than the local non-Cham populace
    It was amazing to see them keep the deen alive and to practise it so openly in post-communist Vietnam

    The situation in Southeast Asia is exactly the same as that in India. The fusion and confrontation between Brahman and Islam. Champa has always existed. The name of Cambodia is the pronunciation of Champa. Christian countries discovered Angkor Wat just like they discovered the New World. Of course, Southeast Asians know what Angkor Wat is. Things, like buildings like the Bamiyan Buddha, naturally fell into disuse. We were lucky not to be demolished. At that time, people thought it was difficult to demolish large-scale stone buildings, so the pyramids of Bamiyan and Angkor Wat remained. , if explosives were invented early, the chance of their existence would be even smaller. After 1492, Christian countries began to influence many areas. Due to political interests, they often supported the confrontation between Brahmins and Islam. Without the intervention of Christian countries, all countries in Asia would They are all Islamic countries. The Philippines has been an Islamic country for a long time. Spain came over and changed it. This is not the worst. Monotheistic countries support the confrontation between polytheism and Islam. This is the most surprising thing. What Christian countries do is shocking. Shocked, Islamic countries cannot do such evil things

      How certain ''monotheist'' nations and people are willing to join hands with and cheer polytheists and atheists who blaspheme God all the time, all because they hate muslims, has affirmed my faith in Islam even more. I watched this debate between an atheist and a muslim and the comment section was filled with christians speaking in support of the atheist, simply because his opponent was a muslim. They didn't even care that the atheist guy was targetting not just Islam, but the entire concept of God to begin with. I, as a muslim, can never imagine cheering an atheist who argues against God, even if his opponent is a non-muslim. This behaviour can be motivated by none other than the Shaytaan. It paints a clear picture of the fact that even these ''monotheist'' religions have been corrupted and Islam is the only, pure truth.

    China's Qing Dynasty was supported by a Christian country, but it was a Brahminical Buddhist-style regime. The title of the emperor was unabashedly Buddha and Bodhisattva. The actual ruler of China in the 20th century was named Queen Buddha. Christian countries helped the Brahmins fight against the Chinese mainland. The Christian regime, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, then fought against the local Muslim tribes in China. What the Christian countries did was amazing, as if they had become atheistic. Otherwise, how could they do such a thing? This was destroying themselves. The Christian countries chose to ally with the Brahmins. Against Muslims and Christians, God only knows what they became

    The situation in East Asia is the same as that in India and Southeast Asia. China's Ming Dynasty was a standard Islamic regime. The emperor was a religious person and had the title of savior, messiah and prophet. This clearly shows the style of Muslim regime. Christian countries are close to In East Asia, they encouraged Brahman Buddhism and Islamic regimes to confront each other. The same thing happened in all parts of Asia. Christian countries interrupted the process of the entire Asia becoming an Islamic continent. What result did they want to achieve? It turned into a polytheistic and atheistic country. It is hard for you to believe this. It was something we did for God’s people and the country, but it really happened, and we still do it to this day. Great disasters and punishments will come, and God’s wrath will punish the guilty.

    Dai Viet-Champa war, we all know about this... Just like the end of Saka dynasty in India...

      Btw, you can read history about Putri Champa... She is a garwa padmi or permaisuri or empress of the Majapahit Empire... She has the same status as Siu Ban Ci (permaisuri from China Hui tribe)... Both of them are queens of Majapahit...
      The first Muslim Sultanate in Java island is Raden Patah... He is the son of Brawijaya (the last king of Majapahit) with Siu Ban Ci... Later, his successor, Pati Unus waged war on the Portuguese in the Malacca strait (and he became a syahid)... At that time, the Champa kingdom was already erased from Indochina... They moved to the Malay Peninsula and many of them went to Aceh province and Java island...

      Mekong-Irrawaddy river and Yunan region are our ancestors land after Bumi Majeti/Kali Serayu river in Jambudwipa... Btw, Kali Serayu is the birthplace of Aji Saka/Ajiwaka/Ajivaka, our unifying figure in Indonesia (especially for Sundanese and Javanese)...
      Btw, because of the war against Khmer, Dai Viet, and flooding, our ancestors moved to the rest of Sunda Islands and Sahul regions (present day Indonesia, Malay peninsula and Mindanao)...
      Champa-Dai Viet war is still slightly better than the war of Saka-Yavana-Daha (Sunda-Java), Malaya-Kamboja-Champa (Malay) against the 'Indian' when the Saka dynasty still exists in Jambudwipa... Mleccha labels still exist till this very day...

      The majority of us became muslim because we were tired of the astika-nastika war... The war between Mataram and Sriwijaya is very famous... The war between Bhairawa Tantra (agama Siwa) vs Mahayana Buddhist...
      Fortunately, the war stopped... Borobudur and Prambanan were built to commemorate this event...
      Centuries later, the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika then became our unifying symbol at Majapahit era... Siwa and Buddha are one because there is no duality in truth... Later it became our national motto... Unity in Diversity and believed in One God became a must...
