Hi, I'm Darren. Welcome to my channel. This started off as a man with RC quads and planes, learning to fly RC. A few years have passed since then, and now I'm sharing things to help others do the same. So here you will find a lot of tutorials and some reviews. If this channel helps new RC pilots get in to the air, that's a win in my book.
I fly pretty much fixed wing only now. But I enjoy all forms of fixed wing that I've tried so far; including Line of Sight, FPV, and slope soaring. They are all excellent, so give them a try if you haven't yet. The quads don't even get a look in anymore..
I am happy to review fixed wing RC relevant products. If you represent a company that would like a review, please contact me with the email link below, or through my web site. Please note that I will always review a product honestly, and fairly. I will highlight bad points as well as the good, as my first priority is to the RC pilots watching the video.
Thanks for your time, D.

Charger balance extension cable
🔗 www.MrD-RC.com 🔗 www.patreon.com/MrD_RC
Here is a useful little cable from SpeedyBee. Which makes charging easier. In the days of old. Chargers used to come with long leads. Which meant plugging in the battery was pretty easy. These days, chargers are more minimalistic. The main power and balance ports are flush installed in the charger. It looks nice. But it can be a pain to plug in the battery. Especially when the battery has short balance leads.
In the past, we could have used regular balance extensions to make life a bit easier. But, you either had to force the balance lead in to the extension. Or cut down the socket on the extension to allow batteries of different cell counts to fit.
SpeedyBee have released some balance lead extensions that allow us to have an easier time. The sockets can accept 2S to 6S packs without any forcing or modification.

Setting up and flying Waypoint Missions in INAV
I know we are talking about auto lunch...but is there any video that explains how auto land decides where to land respectively to the home position?
I got this FRSKY 20S and I wanted to program this thing so I could fly my RC model here in my ranch. not to fly a SpaceX or NASA rocket into orbit. Cause im not a rocket scientist… I’m gonna return this transmitter tomorrow. This is just a bad nightmare. Couldn’t even find those menus. Very frustrating to try to switch to this radio brand. What’s the best brand ? The old one JR that works wonders. Not going thru this.
Just installed this in a nano goblin, seems to be pretty great for that purpose. I'm sure people have figured it out but it's worth noting that the cable with the connector not installed is for the GPS, not the HD vtx, they specifically left the connector off so that you can install the wires in the order needed for whatever gps you are using. (in my case an hglrc m100 with compass, which works flawlessly). The lack of a vtx power switch is a bummer, especially since I am using digital, but I have been just using a usb power source ( portable phone charger) plugged into the board, without the flight batt connected, to let the gps get locked without powering the vtx and risking overheating. Then plug in the flight batt and disconnect the external ups power to keep the board powered, or vise versa, the gps will almost instantly lock again if the board is only powered of for a second...and off you go. So far have had no issues. If that is a no-no for some reason I'd love to hear why, as I am by no means an expert.
Thank you! Super helpful! I just updated to the latest iNav configurator as well as firmware on my quads. It was driving me crazy where my desktop computer iNav shows imperial while my laptop computer iNav (for use on the field) shows metric when I connect my quad. Hahaha
Glad it helped👍🏻
Is this video still valid with 7.0?
How do you get the picture on that?
How do you add the picture to the model select page?
I don't know if I made some mistakes but after updating my Taranis X9D to firmware 2.1.0 I'm not able anymore to set internal module to D8. I can reduce channels range to 8 for having lower latency but the only mode I actually can select for my internal XJT are D16 and LR12. Any hint? thank you
Hi. Thank you for this video and the article on your website. Could you tell us if we should do this with or wihout VTX and servos powered during the calibration? If we add offset calculation, is the value drop to zero amps even if we power the VTX and ESC or the value would be greater than zero? Thank you.
Have everything connected 👍🏻
After having reviewed all the previous viewer comments, I too finally understand your process. I was initially concerned that all you were doing was killing the throttle servo’s movement. The use of the servo was a little confusing, but “that” was meant to demonstrate the passing of “signal" to the iBEC/Opto Kill. Viewers can’t see you physically triggering the backside buttons, and may take a few rewinds to pick that out. Many flyers I know are accustomed to the standard two-position “H” switch as a killer for ESC or Petrol signals. With FrSky making the H switch momentary it gets confusing. I’m also new to FrSky and your video content “is” helpful. Thanks!
Limited Edition not Special Edition ... maybe that's why you can't buy them anymore. Radiomaster miss the point of coloured plastic. E.g. Visibility, heat absorbtion. Also the high gloss ones are painted.
Thanks for your information
I ordered a pair. Thanks Mr. D
Hi Darren. Just purchased a Frsky x20s and I am trying to make my throttle stick go to the centre to use with boats, cars etc. could you please tell me how to do this please.
Have been using similar cables from Banggood and Aliexpress for over a year and a half.Very good with no problems so far.Keep up the good work and thanks for your advice.David
For that accessibility on that flight controller Micro SD card you can use Micro SD to Micro SD Card Male to Female Flexible Extenders.
Can you use FR sky radio X 20 S as a trainer Radyo with the spectrum DX eight please let me know. I got the external module for it too for FR sky Radyo.
You should be able to set up a buddy box with Spektrum if you use a cable.
@@MrD but I don’t know how to do it. Do you know how please let me know if you can thank you.
this guy is my god, from rc user point of view , of course
Thanks for all the helpful videos Darren hopefully u can make a video on putting flaps on the throttle stick and activate landing mode when u move it down
This video saved my sanity ... and my receivers. Great instructions!
In the "history lesson" you showed us all 2 balance lead extensions that would still work perfectly fine... plus they have silicon cables !!!!
With that charger, it is not a JST XH that plugs in to the charger. So wouldn’t work with a modern charger.
The airspeed changes broke my setup using analogue sensor. Worked fine in 6.1. Sensors screen shows flatline and FC shows sensors calibrating.
Nice! But I have a 8S charger...
Thanks for the shoutout, hopefully someone will make one with some nice silicone leads!😄
Silicone leads and an option for an 8S version. Then it’d be spot on.
Darren thank you for your videos, when it comes about inav your videos are just priceless, really accurate with no fussing about. Thank you
You’re welcome. I’m glad they’re helpful 👍🏻
Wow Darren long time buddy, there pushing you hard at work Sir😢....miss your content a lot
Great as always
Nice, but do they come with 4s max version? Because some chargers only work up to 4s and then these leads are not going to fit the charger.
Got the speedybee balance lead extension a month ago, they're super.
I like the idea of them. I do have a couple of parallel charge boards but having seven chargers on 1 power supply, I very rarely charge more than one pack per charger. I may buy a couple to go with chargers than aren't connected to a parallel board.
This is what I had missed for a long time. Only with DIY I got away. Thanks
Thanks for the explanation 🙏 Worked for me!🙂
May i know wht type of rc aircraft that use flap/flaperon and spoiler/spoileron use aircraft? Can we use y split for 1 aileron/flap output?
Very good job! A big tks!
I'm having an issue: when I deploy my flaps during flight to start the landing procedure the newly generated lift from the flaps makes the plane go completely nose up. How can i combat this so when i deploy flaps the plane stays level?
I've been researching my question on loosing rc link during waypoints mission but no luck, cli won't except set failsafe_mission = off

Thanks for video Darren but I'm still not sure about if I loose rc link during waypoints mission, if set to resume will it continue mission? I know older inav versions I would do set failsafe_ mission = off. Thanks again
Very helpful! Thank you 😊👌🏻
Would you make a video on how Min Max feature in telemetry is utilized? Thanks
Love your videos, my and my son who is 12 are starting this hobby. I love the idea of a demo plane, would you be kimd enough to tell we where to get the files so i can either laser cut or 3D print it.
Fantastic- appreciate your work!!!
hey so how do i get accst version 2 then ??
Just use the latest ACCST firmware.
There is no var option on my x20 pro Ethos 1.5.8
Hey Darren great video as always, I have to say the CM setting drive me nuts but anyway in inav 6.1.1 mission control I've tried changing from metric to imperial but it stays on the metric system, maybe I'm missing something?does that need changed somewhere else? Thanks
Unfortunately Mission Control still uses the default units. Hopefully it will change in the future.
That explains it, thanks
Hi Darren Nice work explaining the binding process..I have a question ? i am using X6R on a Horis X10 firmware is V2.10 for rx and tx works fine on the Horus X10.I want to use the same recevers on my new Tandem X 18 but can not bind them is it because the tandem firmware is not the same as the V2.10. In the tandemX18 Currantly in the internal module as TD-ISRM FW V2.2.6. any help would be appreciated. Cheers Kosta
The X6R should bind on the X18. You need to select the ACCESS/ACCST option for the internal module protocol.
@@MrD Hi Darren thank you for the reply.I have already set the internal module to ACCST D16 but does not Bind cheers.
@@rcjetaviator do you have a mismatch of firmware? They should both either be LBT (EU) or FCC. If you have the flex firmware on the transmitter. You still need to set the region correctly.
@@MrD Hi DSarren i have TD-ISRM FW V2.2.6. FCC ON THE TANDEM on the x6r i have the ACCST V2.1.0 LBT
Hi Darren thank you for your help I just realised what was wrong it was a mismatch of firmware I have re flashed the receiver with ACCST v2.1.0 FCC and all binds ok on the Tandem X18 Cheers Kosta
Hi Darren. Thanks for the informative video. Your channel is great! I do have one query: Can the 2 Rx be paired to different Transmitters (let's say like a buddy-system), and can we choose which Rx to use as the main Rx while in flight?
Have you noticed that the TW receiver output (-100%) is much lower than some ESCs 0 input? Calibrating doesn't really work as the ESCs seem to turn on at 1150us PWM and the -100% for Frsky TW is <1000us.
