    In this video we check out the different types of FrSKY stabilised receivers. Each type has a differences including the channel map, self test activation method, and the tools you use to configure them. I look at the current and historical stabilised receivers, and how each type is used.
    This video doesn't go into depth about how to set up and calibrate the receivers. For more information on that. Check out these videos:

    An overview of the new 6 channel mini receivers would be helpful. Even if setup from a radio standpoint is the same, mechanically they are an oddball. How to hook up regular servos, what is the current capacity, what are they designed for, setting up the internal ESC, etc

    Do you have a video showing how to set up AUTO LEVEL on Ch16 for the SR10+? I seem to be having trouble setting up Auto Level to run on a MOMENTARY SWITCH. I've tried different ways to program the auto level, but it doest seem to work. Aside from the channel assignments, is there something different in the setup between the old SR receivers vs the newer PLUS recievers?

    Hi TD SR12 was released, do you know in practice how adv stabilizer works in comparison with Archer SR12+ for example?

  • @crosswindjones
    @crosswindjones Před 6 měsíci +2

    Hi Darren, keep up the awesome work! When you setup the stabailized rx's, what are your go-to default gain settings? Here's what I have used but wondering what other people start with:
    Gyro Gain: Stab Mode A:25%, E:25%, R:50%
    Angle Gain: Auto Level Mode A:25%, E:50%

    • @MrD
      @MrD  Před 6 měsíci

      Honestly, I have them on the default settings. I just set the gain on the knob to where it feels right. I also don't use the self levelling mode, so this is probably why I've not needed to tweak each mode. I will be investigating the other stabilised modes in the summer. So I will need to do that then.

    Hi Darren. I have a question for you. I have put an RX8 Plus in a model using Taranis X9D + 2019. I have set it up and the gyro seems to work fine. I noticed though that even if i am taking off through my switch the gyro rates and expo doesn’t work. They work though if i use the option LUA and disable the gyro. Is this normal? Thanks

    Hi Darren; thank you for that explanation. My Question. I have a spectrum 18 and I am very comfortable with it. Before I invest into this FrSky transmitter, is there a channel reassign feature where you can use other channel ports for different options on the aircraft like canopy open/close, speed brakes and so on?? You did not talk about what you can do with the transmitter unless you have that on a different video.

    • @MrD
      @MrD  Před měsícem

      There are no real specific channels on this system. I remember back on an old Spektrum there was a switch on the transmitter labelled flaps, one labelled gear. And they were associated with specific channels. With this system you have more freedom. You can have any switch for any function and set that function to whatever channel you want.

  • @skrswift
    @skrswift Před 7 měsíci +1

    Thanks Darren, but does the Archer plus series require both channels 14 and 15 assigned to the gain function not just say 14 or 15?

    • @MrD
      @MrD  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Gain is on channel 13. 14 and 15 are the stabilisation modes.

  • @wingsmh27

      @MrD  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Not yet. But hopefully in the future. AFAIK there are currently no active developers on the LUA script. It is just being maintained to fix bugs. I’d love to see it on ETHOS.

Spent three hours changing some switches to the safety type like I have in the X20S. Only four flights on it. It's too early to tell if there is a marked difference to the X20S. Why is there absolutely no information on how to use these archer plus receivers in accst mode? Nothing in the manual other than it exists. Do the lua scripts for the archer plus receivers work on edgetx or opentx? Where is the support from them? If your going to make it accst compatible at least tell us how!! Beyond frustrating

      @@MrD Once again thank you. I really just need to take the leap and get one of their new radios. The x20RS/R are listed on their website but are not yet for sale. That is looking like it might be the one, but the OS is kind of disjointed when it comes to the different luas for the stabilized receiver line ups. Hoping they clean everything up before the launch of these new radios. Their tech is brilliant. Their support for it is iffy at best. Wish you all the best mate. Cheers

    I never used gyros either .. however how many jet jockeys do you know that don’t use gyros? Not to mention helicopter pilots. I use them now, I’m 75 by the way, on all my EDF jets. Some of my slower planes I don’t use them at all. My thoughts are if something makes it easier to do then maybe we will have more people in the hobby flying. Quit being that I’m better than you because I don’t use them guy. It’s not becoming.

    Back when I started flying in 1976 we never had any such receivers. We learned to fly the right way without all this gyro crap. I will never buy any such receiver as I consider it more to go wrong and I don't need training wheels on my aircraft! Nice video!
