    The ZD-8915 and 915 and the one u have there all use 24 Volt heater element. Mine has a 36volt fan no problem with overvoltage on my 8915. but the 18 volt to the heater bug me. know there are mods on psu easy done to get 23.5 .psu on all these stations are ZD-P150 V 2.0. 18 volt 12 A, at least what other confirm they have in those models with or without sleep "sensor" The fans have different rating on many, Same as mine had a 12 V fan while mine is 36V

    I've never played NES on PAL systems but I'm very familiar with NTSC. Is it normal for SMB to sound and play that fast? It looks like it's 30-50% faster than "it should be".

    • @TheRetroChannel
      @TheRetroChannel Před 9 hodinami

      Yeah, I believe Nintendo attempted to make it run around the same speed as NTSC. It ends up being slightly faster but I guess it's better than the usual 20% slower most games suffer from when running on PAL

  • @Electrotat
    @Electrotat Před 19 hodinami

    its not supposed to look like that, if I wanted my nes games to look like that I would just use an emulator.

  • @diablo3botsandhacks
    @diablo3botsandhacks Před 20 hodinami

    I want to get excited about this but the having to mod the console to then have multiple external connections is making it difficult, considering how many existing solutions that arr already available, once audio gets incorporated I will prob pick this up and see how difficult it would be to bypass the rf jack and wire directly to the digitizer and add an hdmi port to make this an internal mod

  • @fu1r4
    @fu1r4 Před 21 hodinou

    If you have the video over RGB2HDMI it can make the audio out of sync if the audio going by another input.

  • @onesixski
    @onesixski Před 21 hodinou

    This is an awesome feat, but what subset of people want “perfect” NES video quality on modern TV’s but with native hardware? Running real NES hardware should almost require a CRT- and analog signal is the best that era did so it’s almost blasphemous to digitize that output. If anyone wants to play NES games in all their glory on modern TV’s, we’ve been able to do that and make it look 10x better with upscaling and shaders with emulators since the 90’s.

  • @MarcoRetro316
    @MarcoRetro316 Před 21 hodinou

    This is pretty neat to modify without removing the PPU. Pair it with an external DAC and you’ve got analog RGB output

  • @fu1r4
    @fu1r4 Před 21 hodinou

    3:02 Have you actual tested that the capacitor will discharge when you press the power button or is it again a myth?

    • @TheRetroChannel
      @TheRetroChannel Před 20 hodinami

      Was there another myth? The capacitor does store a charge for a while after the NES is powered off. I've tested it myself and it has around 12V after powering off. You can easily confirm this just turning the NES off, unplugging the power cable and pushing the power button. The LED at the front will briefly light up as the cap discharges

    • @fu1r4
      @fu1r4 Před 10 hodinami

      @@TheRetroChannel And does it really matters if i discharge the capacitor when you only feed the NES with 9 volts? That capacitor can not have more than 25 volts. Totally safe to touch.

    • @TheRetroChannel
      @TheRetroChannel Před 9 hodinami

      @fu1r4 Safe to touch yes. But as that cap is before the power switch, it has no discharge path and will hold a charge for some time. Normally it wouldn't matter but when working inside the RF modulator, it's possible to accidentally short it. Again not a big deal if you're expecting it, but it could be a nasty surprise for beginners

    • @knortn
      @knortn Před 9 hodinami

      Imagine modding the console without discharging the cap. You have a few wires dangling around, some of them already connected to your RGB mod or whatever and maybe one of them already connected to the GND of the console. Suddenly one of the wires touches the capacitor leg and sends 12V through your expensive mod or other parts of the console. You'd be having a very bad day.

    It's a really neat idea that I know I will never use. I have tried all kinds of things with my Amigas, C64s and vintage consoles. I end up getting tired of things (excluding displays) not powering on and off when I turn the computer or console on and off. But, it's still neat to have ways of getting old consoles hooked up to modern displays.

  • @tiemanowo
    @tiemanowo Před dnem

    I just wonder. Why LumaCode was developed as analog signal in the first place and not some sort of digital signal. Because for me it looks wery weird to convert Digital -> analog (LumaCode ) -> and back to digital

    • @copperdragon9286
      @copperdragon9286 Před dnem

      In fact the signal is digital in nature, but it uses 4 different "digits" instead of the usual 2 ("low" and "high"). These signal can be losslessly transfered and processed, so no additional noise is introduced.

    I have 2 Dell laptops (out of many) that had the AC unknown issue. Adapters work fine with other laptops; just not these 2. They are E7250 and E7450. I tried many online remedies without success. Finally brought out an old PRO3X E-dock and they both charge their batteries and indicate in BIOS the correct adapter wattage and run a lot faster. These old E-docks work for Dell models from E6400 (Core duo) to E7470 (Gen 7 CPU). Very cheap online. Just charge a spare battery to bring to school or work. NOTE: The dock requires a 90W adapter to operate (also cheap online).

    In my opinion, the safest way to do surface mount capacitors is to mask the surrounding areas and then use a rework gun. And in regards to the twist method, I can't say either way for the Super Nintendo because I've never done that but I know from experience that you do not want to use that method on a Gameboy Advance because the pads are too delicate

      Hi, what the C128 does for booting is drive independent, it also works with a 1541, it just loads sector 1,0 and if the pattern matches the first few bytes it takes it as a Boot-sector, that's also how it boots CP/M, the 1581 on the other hand has more options to boot, it also can boot software into the drives Ram and execute it there, that's where the filename comes into play, and that's computer independent

    Do you still this DCR power supply, or did you ditch it after putting the meanwell in?

      I think I gave it back to the owner along with the machine

    A few years ago I fully reversed the 1581 board and made an identical 1:1 reproduction. If the guy with the rotten 1571 board sends it to me I'll reverse it and make the PCB files and gerbers open-source.

    Sounds like a ROM in the C128D is different.

      The ROMs used for the 128D drive and the 1571 are identical.

    Sorry, but unless you document all of the changes, down the road, the owner then. will have an UN-repairable KLUDGE. Which will not be cost effective to take the time to repair. Reverse engineering is one thing but jury-rigging is something very different.
