Thanks you I got the 4 Kernel Switcher today from you in the mail. I had to on soldered the ROM I put a socket on it and it worked 1st time. It works very good. Thank you.

Sven Peterson's C64-Kernal-2.1 is described as:
"A Kernal prevents the killer CBM80 signature, that some games leave in memory from hooking up the C64 for a while." Could be a better choice than the affected CBM one. -Mark.
Ah yes, I've used Sven's Kernal before and it seemed to work fine. I just didn't want to risk the chance that some obscure program wouldn't work with it. There is also a "function keys" Kernal which is almost the same as stock but maps some shortcuts to the F keys while still maintaining the tape and rs232 routines. I also considered that one but again didn't want to risk it

Once again a great video, I would rather have taken S-JiffYDOS with the possibility of 40 tracks and formatting without bump. Many greetings from Germany.
I'm loving these ROM upgrades. They seem so much cleaner/simpler than the ones that came before. Another couple of newbie questions from me around compatibility. I've never used non-stock ROMs.
1) Does a 1541 with JiffyDOS work with a stock C64 kernel, i.e. for general operational uses there should be no need to switch the 1541 back and forth between Stock/JiffyDOS kernels on the 1541 if you're switching back and forth on the C64 ?
2) Given JaffyDOS is a JiffyDOS derivative, I assume a C64 with JaffyDOS is fully compatible with the 1541 with JiffyDOS for the extra speeds ?

Yes and yes. You can leave JiffyDOS enabled on the 1541 and it will work as normal, you just won't benefit from the extra speed. There is a very rare chance that something will not work with JiffyDOS in the 1541, but I'm yet to find anything that causes issues.
And yeah, JaffyDOS is fully compatible with a JiffyDOS'ed 1541 from what I've found. The only major difference with JaffyDOS is the removal of RS232 routines and a few obscure JiffyDOS shortcut commands don't work

Probably, the shortboard is a little more complicated as the Kernal ROM also contains the basic rom.

Great video. Time to show my ignorance...Can this replacement 64 kernal switcher be used in a C128 in 64 mode and can a second kernal switcher be used on the C128 in C128 mode? Thanks
No. The C128 consolidates a number of ROMs into larger 28pin packages.
Your Tindie store says you are out of stock on the 1541 rom w/jiffydos. When do you expect more?

Do you need to buy two JiffyDOS licenses when you use JiffyDOS and JaffyDOS in the Kernal switcher?
Not from what I've found. But if you were to burn the JiffyDOS and JaffyDOS ROMs onto two separate ICs, or use each ROM image with with two different machines then a license would be required for both
With this set up you don't need JiffyDOS external switch on old 1541?
You still need the switch if you want to turn off JiffyDOS on the 1541, but from what I've found there is little reason to do so. The only thing I've found that doesn't work with JiffyDOS on the 1541 is the EXOS Kernal, and there's no point using EXOS if you already have JiffyDOS
