    Merry Crispness.

    Did you put the 128 boards into a metal case? Or was it that way to begin with? 🤔

      @TheRetroChannel  Před 7 měsíci +2

      There's 3 main versions of the 128. The flat case, the D (plastic case with the handle on the side and keyboard underneath), and the DCR (metal case with a cost reduced mainboard)

    Would it be possible to get a second RGB2HDMI hooked up to the VDC 80col RGBi output ? I seem to recall there was a similar board for the RGB2HDMI that did CGA
    Nice video, I was looking forward to this one.

    • @TheRetroChannel
      @TheRetroChannel  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Pretty sure that would be possible

      @@TheRetroChannel Took a look at the project ReadMe and it looks like it is supported 👍

    Since the LumaCode is being pumped through an RGB2HDMI adapter, can you also take advantage of the "softer" scaling options for those that do not like the pixel perfect output? EDIT-- all I had to do was pay closer attention to the RGB2HDMI info screen that popped up. It is set to Auto scaling by default but I am sure this can be changed.

    • @TheRetroChannel
      @TheRetroChannel  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Yep, all the regular RGBtoHDMI scaling and filter options are available

    That's awesome!!! Too bad I got rid of my VIC 20 & Commodore 64 in the mid-90's.

      How could you!

      @TheRetroChannel  Před 7 měsíci +2

      I did the same, but then I picked up a C64 a few years ago... it's a slippery slope

    I personally don't understand wanting to see the c64/c128 that way and not have the beauty of a 1702. It's neat though from my hardware nerd side.

      @samp3413 Před 7 měsíci +1

      I have that opinion also. I like the not so clean output of my c64, that's how I've always remembered it.

    • @ScottyBrockway
      @ScottyBrockway Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@samp3413 I like it nice and clean with clean separated composite, but without scan lines and persistence with the superior contrast of a real CRT it just doesn't look right to me.

    • @TheRetroChannel
      @TheRetroChannel  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I'll always prefer a CRT, but for those without one this is a great way to hook up this old hardware to a modern display

    If you are using a Raspberry Pi, why not make it possible to input the audio in it from the computer and the HDMI should have both video and audio ...

    • @TheRetroChannel
      @TheRetroChannel  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I believe it's a highly requested feature but not currently possible with the RGBtoHDMI

    So it does nothing in 80 column mode?

    • @TheRetroChannel
      @TheRetroChannel  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Nothing. But I guess you could always get a second RGBtoHDMI for the 80column mode.

    • @10MARC
      @10MARC Před 7 měsíci

      @@TheRetroChannel Fair enough. It would have to have a physical connection to the 9 pin video port. I don't have any jailbar issues in 80 columns, but it would be neat to be able to use it on any HDMI monitor.

  • @WinrichNaujoks

    But I only want to get rid of the jail bars and I don't want pixels. I want SVIDEO out.

    • @TheRetroChannel
      @TheRetroChannel  Před 7 měsíci

      The jailbars will always be present in the VIC-IIe analog video output. I guess you could convert the HDMI back to svideo but that's a long way to go just to remove the jailbars
