    You can connect without a USB hub. Plug in WiFi dongle and connect to your WiFi network. When prompted for password, unplug dongle and plug in keyboard. Type in password then select it and copy it. Unplug keyboard, plug in WiFi dongle, connect to your WiFi network. When prompted for password, paste the password you copied from clipboard. Connect!

    Wifi setup worked great for me, just like you described. My machine is brand new with firmware version 00.01.01 already installed. I've made no mods. The "damaged storage" message came up the moment I started up the android menu, before I changed any settings. Thanks a lot for this. (This scope ROCKS!!!)

    Just received mine firmware 01.01, bandwith and mem depth options installed then I plugged only the keyboard (without the WiFi dongle) the message “Damaged storaged” is already here (but I haven’t checked before bw&md options!). Then installed the dongle. All works perfectly. Thank you for your video.

    Firstly, thanks again for a great video (I followed through your bandwidth upgrade video too). This one was very quick and easy. I purchased the TP-Link Wi-Fi adapter for just under £8 here in the UK. I can also confirm that I got the "damaged storage" message too. I did perform this process after running through your other upgrade video, rather than a totally clean virgin scope. So maybe the bandwidth upgrade has something to do with it, or maybe it always happens regardless. Anyways, I now have a 100Mhz scope with wifi thanks to you. Nice!

    I just got my Rigol DHO914 a few days ago and have it connected through my KVM switch for a keyboard - I can confirm I also get the 'Damaged Storage' message. Must just be how Rigol have set things up or imaged their software/firmware. This is before I've done anything interesting with it - it is like that out of the box. Firmware 00.01.02

    Tip... Grab a piece of heat shrink that will fit over the head of the wifi dongle. Cut about 1.5". Add a little Super-Glue to the head of the dongle, insert it into the heat shrink and shrink it down. While the tube is still hot, flatten the free length of the tube with pliers, . Presto, you now have a pull tab for the dongle.

    I got the "damaged storage" too. I think its from inserting a thumb drive earlier to update the OS. The 'scope didn't like the drive initially, but then magically was happy with it and updated from it.
    I don't have the 70 to 100MHz option at all, but measured a 250MHz signal direct from a signal generator (no probe used). It was down a bit in level.

    Important:
    1. It's not Hot pluggable, you need to connect everything before boot.
    2. Windows recognize my Wifi Dongle as RTL8188EU and not RTL8188EUS, still works.
    3. Still works on Firmware Update v00.01.02.00.02 2023/12/28

  • @wb7ond
    @wb7ond Před 6 měsíci +2

    Since the scope would be looking for a "mass storage" device when usb is plugged, the "damaged storage" might just be it found something other than a usb storage device. My best guess... GReat video, thanks for the info, did not know that the keyboards work... Thanks again

    The Android menu isn't coming up on the RHO914. Alt+Tab brings up the "RIGOL" screen, which appears to be related to the launcher, the software crashes and restarts. I suppose RIGOL has blocked the feature and I'm pretty sure it's possible to configure it from command prompt, but I honestly don't get it why RIGOL don't add WiFi as an option in the settings menu to officially deliver this feature.

    I did this after doing the 70-to-100 MHz bandwidth hack using your other video. I am running Firmware 00.01.01. Yes, I get the same Damaged Storage error message. Note that after WIFI is up and working and I have the scope screen displayed in a web browser on my computer, I see a red dot on the Rigol cog (bottom left corner), and clicking that then asks me: "Upgrade system firmware? DHO800_DHO900_Update.GEL" Not sure if I should do that or not with all these hacks in place. Thoughts?

    • @TheRetroChannel
      @TheRetroChannel  Před 3 měsíci +1

    • @JDW-
      @JDW- Před 3 měsíci

      @@TheRetroChannel Thank you. Your link leads to Fungus' post on page 18, but there are now 103 pages. Later on that same page (18) Fungus says "The updates don't change the android system, only the contents of the /rigol folder." But I guess that doesn't apply because you informed me there's a different method required. Not sure I want to read through the remaining pages of that thread, as that would take a couple days. But perhaps the bigger problem is this. I have no idea what version firmware will be installed. It only says "DHO800_DHO900_Update.GEL" will be installed. It could be some new firmware that no trick or technique will work to re-enable the hacks. I am content to use Firmware 00.01.01, but that red notification dot bothers me. No way to get rid of that except perhaps to yank out the WIFI USB dongle, but that makes no practical sense. Anyway, if you have further thoughts in light of this, I would love to hear them.

    Question. Have you noticed any RF noise from the WiFi adapter getting into the scope channels? I installed the same wifi adapter on a Rigol DHO924S scope and see noise. The noise appears mostly on Channel 1 and only when using Remote Control feature via WiFi (there's no noise when connecting via Ethernet). A link to a video showing the noise problem is posted below. It's appears to be a WiFi proximity issue, since the noise goes away if I move the adapter further away using a usb hub. czcams.com/video/S-S1dmi4XLQ/video.html
