Thanks for watching! - Věda a technologie
Watching you solder back on the HDMI port, it's sorcery! I don't know how the science/physics work so maybe thats why I'm doubly-amazed when I see it in action.
I feel the same way when I see people doing BGA work
They are ALL worth saving
The trusty Jaycar console opening set, love to see it
I wonder how many people have bought it and wondered what the hell that thing is with all the tabs sticking out
I would have looked at that poor xbox and written it off. Good job bringing it back from the dead!
Funny enough in the Data Center world isopropyl alcohol wipes are used to clean thermal past off the cpus and heatsinks.
Great video, as always. I modded a slim a couple of years ago, and for me the hardest part was dismantling the case. Wiring in the mod chip was a piece of cake in comparison! I wish I still had it.
Yeah, pulling apart a slim still takes me a long time compared to the phat models
Wow, it was 100 years ago i flashed and installed JTAG/RGH in those three sixties 😀
I love the reference to everything coming up Milhouse!
Cool to see a junk console brought back to life. I'm looking forward to your mod video. I've got a jasper console I've been meaning to do. What was the spray you used to polish it?
The polish is Chemical Guys VRP
Nice video , can show more video on like red ring , stand by voltage checking , common problem . Tq
Made me think of one of my previous jobs, there was a black ute with a white hard tonneau cover turning up. Thought it looked like a pint of Guinness. 😄
You can throw the fan unit in a dishwasher just fine. Works great.
What I use to get the thermal paste off is a small putty knife. One sweep gane. Then clean up with IPA.
Lil fact: A Jasper V2/Kronos is really called a Tonasket
27:40 To remove old thermal paste i use something called "Bensin - kemisk ren" by Gripen. I have only seen it in Sweden.
If you can, you should always heat from the bottom, so you don’t melt the plastic
True, but it survived and is a bit easier to film doing it from the top
@@TheRetroChannel true 😉
Solid
What happens if you use wet wipes on removing the thermal paste?
What kind of microscope are you using for looking up close? I'm just getting into restoration projects and my eyes aren't as good as they used to be and looking for a good recommendation.
It's an Andonstar something something - I did a quick review on it here czcams.com/video/UyTw_h8SIUg/video.html
I suggest a plastic razor blade to get most of the old thermal paste off.
So you found a replacement CD spindle but couldn't replace the CD lid cove !? It's weird
do you have a video for the 360 slim model?
Not yet
if i may ask, what do you use to record the screen from compsite output? asking cuz on mine the hdmi port doesnt appear to work with anything, and im having to use a compsite to hdmi adapter into a capture card into a montior to get it working
Retrotink 5x into a capture device (EVGA XR1 lite), then obs to record
I kinda like the look of these with the plastics removed. Industrial! 🤖
Agreed. Although it would probably cook itself very quickly 😄
Wow
is the port the same as slim ?
if not where did you find it ?
because all i can see is slim hdmi port
I don't know if the slim uses the same port. I got mine from a donor board phat 360
@@TheRetroChannel thanks for the reply
idk if you know this but there is an rgh 3.0 out now and it's MUCH more successful. works on everything but windchesters
I know, I've done RGH3 on a Falcon. It's still hit and miss for the phat models which is why RGH1.2 is still the recommended option for phats
@@TheRetroChannel i hear you. the only phats i've had luck with 3.0 on is jaspers. my buddies is still going strong 3 years later. now time to find a halo 4 model for myself that someone doesn't want over 1,000 usd for LOL
I thought all the fat models were crap? I bought a 360 a few years ago and I went with the S model to avoid any potential reliability issues and also because it has built-in wifi. Even so I only play it in winter since here on the west coast it can get up to 45C in Jan-Feb
The later fat models are fairly reliable, but yeah the S is probably the sweet spot for reliability, features and looks. And they're still modable
I don't trust any Phat X360. I bought the Elite and ended up going through 5 of them. Finally had to buy a Slim since we had so many games. I have a special Xbox pry tools for opening the case and they work really well.
He who has not experienced the rrod (several times), has not truly had the Xbox 360 experience. 😂
Yeah It's a shame as I do like the look of the phat. Seems like they all eventually RROD regardless of board revision. I've had a slim for years with no problems though.
@@robmoye7373It's very rare. If they did have RROD, it would have been from something minor like the dashboard files on the NAND or some power regulating component. Most of the early models failed from bad GPUs, which later boards fixed.
I have an xbox 360 elite from 2009 and he work very well, i just replace the thermal paste and next will be dvd strap.
I see you struggle removing this stuck thermalpaste. I have a good success using kerosine/benzine or just car gaz to greatly dissolve remains of this thermal compound. Maybe next time you meet challenge removing dried thermalpaste this tip helps you to ease the process.

Haha, pretty sure I signed up to get a discount on my component storage drawers. I left the card laying around the house and the missus found it and told me to put it somewhere I won't lose it, so I did
Hello we are 3 boys who try to repair their xbox 360. Nothing sexual. We have trouble removing the solder on pins in 10:53. Again nothing sexual. We dont know if we need better equipment but the solder just cant be removed we are using flex and sucking pistol but there always is some solder remaingni
Those pins are connected to the ground plane which will soak up all the heat. Heating that area of the board with hot air will help, then add solder to each pin that is stuck and try sucking it out again. It may take multiple passes to completely clear each hole
