RGH 3.0 has been covered a few times here on the channel from the initial release of it, to tutorials covering all of the compatible motherboards. RGH 3.0 greatly simplifies the hardmodding experience for the Xbox 360, requiring only two wires and a resistor for the Xbox 360 Slim consoles. Element18592, also known by The Mod Shop, created and open sourced a quick solder board shortly after the release of RGH3, to help clean up and make the install process easier for Slim consoles. After doing a few installations using direct wire methods, I finally take the plunge into building some of these QSBs and giving an install a try. Let's see how to use this QSB, install it, and determine just how much easier this really makes the RGH3 process!

Suggestion: Don't tin both pads for the smd resistor. Just tin one side, tac your resistor in place, then solder the other side. Great video as usual.
Thanks for the tip!
I love this QSB since it lets you change the wires if need be (for Viper V3) and avoids any stress being put on that tiny PLL point. Also the resistor install is a lot neater with it
Absolutely! A great addition.
Great video! Ever since my first failed Corona mod about 10 months ago I've tried to RGH a couple of Trinities, and I always had difficulty making the PLL_BYPASS point to hold onto my wires properly(probably a soldering skill issue on my end). Ordered a bunch of these QSBs, as they seem a great way to avoid having any issues soldering up that hard-to-hit via further down the line.
I did rgh3 as my first hardware mod on a console. Its not too bad even without the sponsored stuff here. Just as he said, take your time scratching up the PLL point and you will be fine. Plus coronas don't need the resistor but I went back in and added one after the fact just to be on the safe side
I’m going to attempt to rgh my nephews 360, I feel confident enough to do it
did you succeed @@Powder_actuated_lead-

Element is such a great person. Loved throwing ideas back and forth with him.
Good dude for sure!
It's amazing that he took advice from one of his commenters and actually used the tape method to sort down the scraping away the point.
Love a helpful community!
Good stuff man. I remember doing soldering of small resistors like that at trade school, we dropped them on the floor so many times and lost them 😅. Trying to solder them in without a microscope is painful, holding them with the correct size tweezers does help
Love that microscope.
I had a lot of trouble with SMD until I got solder paste and a hot air work station. Total game changer
Tools make all the difference!
Need to try this on my own time it would be a fun Hobby!
Sponsorship! Nice! I feel like Ive wondered about that for your channel before. I always thought "would sponsors be able to support a channel celebrating consile modding and bypassing security?"
THX a ton for your Support and Trust, Mario 🥳
Thanks for the opportunity! 🔥

So grateful for your channel, thank you.
Welcome!
Oh man... Just attempted this. Trying to solder to the PLL point was a pain using the QSB... I ended up getting annoyed and cutting off that part of the QSB and instead soldering a wire between the PLL point and the resistor on the QSB.... might have been easier to forego the QSB entirely heh
But enough of me complaining! Thank you for posting this video and your other video on how to RGH3 a corona xbox, they were extremely helpful :)
Sorry to hear, that's surprising it was more difficult, but it sounds like you made it work? 🤣
nice video bro. i wish I kept more of my 360s because I had one I could have saved with such an easy RGH hack. I still have one of the fat systems with the original LPT JTAG method installed lol
So happy we don't need LPT these days
I prefer the wire method. Done now nearly 15 consoles. PS: You should use a toothpick for flux instead of the q tip ;) works better
For sure, I need toothpicks but don't have them on hand since I don't ever use them 😂
Dang this was much needed haha. I swear I hate the PLL spot. Thanks Mario! 🎉
Magnification helps immensely!
@@MrMario2011 I have scopes, tiny cheap USB ones and a Amscope well two actually but I have became so used to just using my eyes for even ROL mods I don't usually bust out the scopes anymore. I use another for lab work but it's too much for any rationale console repair or mod. But yes for sure, also NOT drinking a case of Redbull a day could'nt hurt but I'll never know. Lol
Thanks for another great video! So when you remove the xbox 360 slim cpu fan is there a retainer clip or you you just wiggle and pull?
I have not needed to pull the fan off of the heatsink itself.
i can see why this is easier for people who are new to soldering, id recommend buying a qsb that already has the resistor if you are new as that could be pretty difficult
For sure, although the sellers I've seen seem to include one or both for you to install. Since the installer might have to use different values for different consoles.
Small tip. When you solder those small resistors, just put solder on one pad and tack it down first. Then apply solder to the side.
Definitely a good tip! This is how I used to do it with controller LEDs, but I've been out of practice so this sounds better.
I'd love it if they would release a QSB with JST or similar connectors for reading the NAND. All those wires bunched together makes soldering them a pain. My trinity with RGH2 went well but if I ever have to dump a NAND on another system I'd want QSBs.
There's already a couple of options out there! You could do what XDK consoles do, which is install pinheaders to the NAND points. Alternatively, Team Xecuter did indeed release NAND read/write QSBs. They weren't widely used and haven't been made for a long time now, but I had a set of them installed in my first RGH.
is it just me or does the pico flasher stop working after few consoles
Hey there! 2 quick questions, What solder do you use and at what temperature? Thank you :)
Solder I have linked in my Amazon store in description, I run it at about 370°C
Love your aquateen hunger force refrence

So I had a few questions, Even If I purchase that $200 microscope you have linked will it be easier to do a RGH3? I have 2 Coronas one I already modded with a glitch chip years and years ago, But kind of forgot the entire process of all this and mostly stressed to attempt this once again, My other question is what is mainly needed to complete a RGH3 glitch? Just don't want to purchase a ton of things that arent needed.
Having a microscope definitely makes work like this much easier, but is not a requirement. I'd recommend you watch my RGH3 tutorials related to the console you want to work on, since those will be much more in depth than this video and will answer the questions you have.
I've gotten pretty discouraged during my RGH journey. I've bricked several consoles and only been able to do one successfully. In your opinion, what is the easiest motherboard to RGH?
In my opinion? Trinity. That's the first one I ever did a RGH on my own for, and they're hearty systems. Less issues with wire routing than Phats, and less temperamental than Coronas.
Hmm, what version of j runner extras are you using? Whenever I run xell with ethernet on mod it always locks up
The latest.
do you have to tick the PCB Assembly when ordering or no need?
Nope, since you assemble it yourself.
quick question im thinking about doing this to my trinity but it has not been updated since 2018 running 17526 should i stay on this dashboard or update to most recent its a non modded console atm
No difference.
I have a problem with a console. Ive done 5 consoles using RGH3 and not had any issues what so ever on both Trinity and Corona motherboards. My friend tried to do a trinity and it worked fine. He booted up GTA VC for the OG xbox and it randomly shut off. He did some checks etc and said nothing seemed out of place. He was testing his wires and pulled up a bit too hard on the POST point ripping up the cable and solder. Since then he has tried to fix it and eventually dug a hole on the POST point and if that post point gets any solder on it what so ever. The console will chime and wont power on. BUT if it is clear of solder it will just perma boom. It chimes and the fan stays on and eventually speeds up to insane speeds. I of course bought it off him for £20 as spares as repairs incase i needed some additional parts but have tried to fix it instead. He did already expose the POST point on the other end of the board and wire up to that and has the same effect of chiming > fan stays on > i turned it off. I have redone the wiring, soldering, changed resistors and no luck. Even tried to make it boot retail as he sent me the original nand files etc. No luck, do you or anyone reading this have any ideas? Im not at a loss if it wont work as ill use it for parts but be nice to see if i can get it working again.
Get a Postfix Adapter, use that, be done with it.
@@MrMario2011 Perfect thank you lool. Ill give that ago :)
I think i missed ths part where this is easier... it looks to be more trouble so I'll just do the 2 wires and a resistors method in the video you made a year ago.
SMD resistor goes on the board, after that the board install to the motherboard itself is easier than 2 wires.
Can this be done in a fat Xenon (no HDMI) 360? I cant find any info, just some posts about lower dashboard versions and whatnot
EXT_CLK for that.
15432 releases RGH3, a RGH 2 wire method for all motherboards except Xenon, Zephyr, and Winchester that does not need a glitch chip etc.. other than just business promotions.
I've covered it extensively! And I needed those emo PCBs
Do i need both the QSB and postfix adapter for my xbox 360 e or just the QSB?
Postfix is needed for Corona v3-v6 models, the QSB here is optional but makes RGH3 easier.
Hey, I followed your corona guide with my 360 e however I ripped the pad for db3, is there an alternative pad that I can use or an I sol
Elite models were Phat systems, a Corona video shouldn't be followed for that.
@@MrMario2011 you're right I mixed elite with the Xbox one style E model.
Does this work for all Corona V1-6? Does this replace the post fix adapter for v4-6? Thank you!
Works for all Slims, does not negate the need for a Postfix Adapter.
Nice One!
Thanks!
Thanks
You're welcome!
What wires do I need for the pico flasher and where do I get them?
I have wiring I use in my Amazon Shop link in the description, but I believe I used some 26 AWG wire.
Hi
I love you your video
Made my life easier
Thanks 😊😊
Anyway I have Winchester 😢😢
Is there any way to go through 😅😅
Sadly nope.
Quick question. Does this works to XBOX 360 E model?
As long as it's a Corona motherboard.
Is there any new method to RGH a Winchester 500G ?
No
Definitely the tiniest resistor I’ve ever installed 🤣 smaller then a dust bunny
0603 is still the smallest I've gone, but 0805 is still a small one!
So this only works for the slim? Won't work on a jasper?
This PCB is only for Slim consoles.
i got a rgh3 console with no display and a bad post fix i bought another post fix adapter and soldered the glitch chip back in place and still no display, although after upgrading to rgh3 on this corona i still dont have a display signal lol, any ideas?
Which type of Corona and also check the rams types
You can't properly troubleshoot until it's reverted to stock.
@@MrMario2011 I can't, I'm not the 1st owner
@@Clarkane check if the rams are winbond if yes tick on winbond rgh3. 0 then write ecc it will work
If possible bad gpu or south bridge
What flux do you use?

@MrMario2011 thanks buddy, great video by the way, I'm interested in trying this just because it seems like if ordered in bulk the qsb would be cheap and nice looking
This is work with Slim E ?
As long as it isn't a Winchester
ooooh that's what I want
It's here for everyone!
Use next Time a Fiberglas Pen! For PLL. It´s much easyer
I feel like those would be too big for how small this via is to expose.

Whats up! I already have an RGH3 xbox made myself
Yo same
I think this did not make it easier, and instead of using a through the hole resistor, you have to solder 2 more tiny points at the smd resistor. The pcb itself is neat though, but for not much advantage...
Its cool shit, but I woudn't risk it myself even with soldering skills 😂
Better than some of the overconfident folks I've seen! Unfortunately a good way of wrecking your system.
