    The bluelight disrupts sleep has been debunked BUT usually devices that give out bluelight are screens and they simulate our brains and therefore disrupts sleep in a different way.

    Dr. O, could it be that in bariatric surgery patients, who consume very little food as compared to pre-surgery, that they are in a surgically induced hypo-vitamin status, in particular, vitamin C? Practically pre-scorbutic? Perhaps this could explain the poor maintenance of collagen, post-surgery, in this group of weight loss patients? Also, perhaps those who are genetically pre-disposed to better skin post weight loss are genetically better at recycling or conserving vitamin C?

    Not new in fasting but 1st time doing adf, I'm doing 24 hrs fast and 24 hours feast, it's my 2nd day, i ate yesterday and now is fasting, there's no hunger just sleepy. I normally drink lots of water, so it's not hard for me to drink just water all day. I'm 70kg now and aiming for 50kg.

    Couple questions on ADF. 1) if you go on vacation for a week or two, and quit the ADF while on vacation, would you be uncomfortable and feel bloated like if you have been dieting and go back to normal eating? 2) if you take meds that it is recommended to take with foods, do you still take them daily, or quit taking that medication

    seriously-- do not weigh yourself on feeding days, guys. in fact, go a week without weighing yourself at all until a fasting day weigh in. my greatest self-sabotage is that ADF scale rollercoaster. i have quit before even though I was down 5 lbs in 2 weeks (on track to 10 lbs in a month and my goal was only 15) because I just got so defeated with that dumb ass pointless as scale that wasn't telling me a damn thing about my fat loss. My *clothes* were telling me about my fat loss.

    thank you so much for these videos. they are so well made and put together, i find you easy to listen to and learn from. i'm loving all of your videos and i hope you know how valuable this is for me. i am 25 and i have roughly 90lbs to lose. i am going to try to get my steps in and do alternate day clean fasting ideally or dirty fasting or modified --if i have to--- just so i dont say "fuck it!" lol!

    You said, losing a "significant" amount of weight. Can you define "significant"? I am 70 yrs old, 5'1" female and weighed 142.6 lbs. I have lost 20 lbs in about 4 months. Would this be considered a significant weight loss?

    After doing clean intermittent fasting, OMAD, for two years I hit a stubborn plateau. I started slowly with 1 day down and I noticed that I was not hungry the day after my "up" day. I realized that I might as well just go along with the 5:3 plan to get my metabolism going again. This video was very practical, encouraging, and motivating. Thank you!

    I truly believe that all the misinformation around low fat/low cal eating small meals frequently, and the mentality of the 90s round dieting accompanied by self loathing because my body didn't fit societal standards, was key in me going in the opposite direction. Hard as I tried, I couldn't make long lasting progress and I would up in deprivation/binge cycles with very little activity. Once I went from working on my feet to sitting at a desk, it snowballed quickly and I think that is where the most damage to my skin was done. I lost weight in my late twenties but I had more info at my hands at that time and I started going to the gym. The activity was key. It transformed my body and my mentality. The lasting effects of once being morbidly obese were there but there is no doubt I was in the best shape of my life. Keto was just starting to get more attention so I was still sticking to calorie deprivation and low cal but with more nutritious foods, i.e. Lean meats, veggies etc I find myself wondering, if I had this level of info in my late teens/early twenties, would my weight have gotten so out control. I can't say it enough: activity was key.

    I have been doing true ADF since February (for about 5 months), I found it to be very effective and easy. I am down to the last 10# that I need to lose. I’m very active now, including weight lifting (dumbbells, not heavy weights). I’ve been succumbing to eating nuts on my fasting days. I really have trouble getting through them without eating, now. I’m fine with that, except that I’m worried that it’s a sign that I will go back to eating too often, when I reach my goal. For background, I gained the weight 3 years ago, from steroids during chemotherapy for cancer. My reason for changing my eating habits is to live longer, as my cancer is stage IV metastatic, I have been treated twice in 2 yrs for it.

    Researching ADF now, and I think it might be worth a try. I've been low carb (Was following Atkins back in the day) since 2007, and in the last few years switched to OMAD Keto and now currently OMAD carnivore. I did lose a chunk of weight initially but I still have about 60 pounds I need to lose and have just been teetering up and down for years.

    Great video, thank you. There has been talk lately of a different study that found intermittent fasting destroys muscle more than regular feeding, when calorie intake was held constant. But I think that study was done on people who were not overweight.

    Lmfao I’m 150lbs with maybe 12-15% body fat and I wanna do IF. According to your formula I’d have to eat 2200ish calories on my fasting days. But what is the point? If I do that every day at some point my body fat will go down and then I will dip into lean muscle. So why not just eat the amount of calories you need to maintain or gain on fasting days? And for 24hour fasts it makes no sense for me to eat that many calories bc the isn’t a fast.

    I'm not relativity new to fasting but I've started to fast consistently almost for a week. I'm about 30% BF. I'm doing 16:8 for three days, No eating for two days and 20:4 for two days. In this way I have the good of all different systems of IF and can optimize my protein intake. Thank you Dr. O'Neill for the great insight and inspiration!

    Loose skin won't disappear. i lost 17 pounds- 160 to 143, thru keto, and also occasionally intermittent fasting. Nothing works. Check out other videos by actual MDs

    Hi Frank 👋🏿 Man this is hard to do when you have a traveling lifestyle dude. I'm not a trucker but sometimes I have to stay randomly in hotels. Literally run out of food I had brought for the day. So then, what do you do when you've run out? Where can I go because it's SOOO easy to either under eat or over eat once you've gotten used to fasting. Like I could just fast right now... It doesn't even bother me much. I've been worried because I'm eating clean, just not enough. My wait is being more maintained and it's annoying.
