    I am super excited about this upcoming course. One of the main differences between the "old" me and the "new" me is that I have learned to love physical activity. I designed a life where I needed to move until I finally wanted to move, and there is no going back.
    Please share any questions that you have about adding physical activity (of any kind) into your life. I will make sure that all of these questions get addressed in the course. It will be completed by the end of the year.
    Stay tuned, and be blessed :)

      Not yet@@stellawaithaka9951I have 70 of the course videos ready, but I am still working away on the rest. My goal was to have it out by now, but I have had to tap on the breaks a bit because of some faith and family responsibilities. But I am still super excited to get it out to the world. I will share a lot more once it is ready. Stay tuned
      Also, please let me know if you have any specific questions or topics that you want me to cover. Now is the best time to ask because I am still building it :)

    if you want to know just how underutilized NEAT is, look at where everyone parks at the gym. I've been making it a point to park as far away as possible everywhere I go. It makes it extremely easy to get my 10,000 steps per day, especially when I add in my daily exercise.

      Thank for the kind words. I really try to focus in on the topics that helped me achieve my weight loss success. Fasting and sleep were 2 game-changers in the beginning, but I credit my increase in physical activity for continuing to have success and keep the weight off for good.
      I went from moving as little as possible to actually CRAVING movement. I make movement a priority in my life now, and I am much better off for it.

    Seems to me a technical way of saying change your lifestyle to be more active ;) However, still an interesting concept!

    • @GrowGrayMatter
      @GrowGrayMatter  Před 10 měsíci +3

      That is exactly what it is. We are fighting an uphill battle because most people who struggle with their weight are not super motivated to be active. We have to fight out bodies subconscious desire to rest by building a plan to consciously move more throughout the day. We need to build a life where we have to move until we can get healthy enough to want to move :)
      The research is pretty staggering in this area. NEAT levels determine how many calories we burn in day, how much weight we lose on a diet, etc. We just need to find a way to tap into it.
      Cool stuff for sure

      @@dannsii1960 Fat loss definitely tests our patience. Things definitely slow down at the end. The key is to not let it get you done. If you do, it is too easy to spiral out of control after a bad weigh-in or two.
      You are putting in the work. It will pay off. I told you a while ago that a really good weigh-in probably means that weight loss will be slow the next week. The opposite is true. Some people call it whooshing. A week or 2 of slow weight loss is usually followed by a great week
      You got this!

    I'm wondering if part of your NEAT program will address the benefits of movement/activity outside in fresh air and of course sunshine in mental health as well as in sustaining healthy habits of daily NEAT. Often, sunshine is overlooked when metabolism is discussed.

    • @GrowGrayMatter
      @GrowGrayMatter  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I agree 100%. The goal is to get back to using the human body the way it was designed to be used. Getting out in nature is a big part of that.
      My wife and I both feel so much better when we can get outside more. We live in South Dakota, so we are preparing for about 3 months where we feel trapped inside. She has a hydroponic garden to keep her busy, and I stay active on my stationary bike, but it just isn't the same :(.
      I am recording a vide tomorrow for my new series on sleep. Tip 1 is getting outside in the morning Sun. Tip 2 is not wearing sunglasses while you are out there. I believe that being outside sends powerful signals to our brain that it is time to be awake, and then these signals remind our brain that we should be asleep in about 16 hours. We have broken our connection with the Sun, and we are paying the price.

    • @AzaleaBee
      @AzaleaBee Před 8 měsíci

      @@GrowGrayMatter I'm in a subtropical climate so just now being able to enjoy the outdoors regardless of the time of day. I feel for you both going into cold weather. The exercise bike is good.. it is my "insurance exercise" done before dawn in any season so I can garden or not once the daily weather makes itself known with sunrise.
      Be careful about the sunglasses. Living in a sunny climate obviously it's different for me, but I protect by skin and eyes from the sun as much as possible.. although I sometimes forget. I have signs of cataracts although the optometrist said they have not progressed these past two years to the surprise of both of us.

    • @AzaleaBee
      @AzaleaBee Před 8 měsíci

      Oh. And I ABSOLUTELY agree with getting out in the morning. I make every excuse I can think of to send my husband outside.
      "Honey, will you get some green onions?" (From the garden)
      "Honey. The lemon tree needs pruning. Let's do it before lunch."
      But I hadn't considered it as a signal to our brains regarding our circadian rhythm. Probably because our house is lit by natural light during the day.

    • @GrowGrayMatter
      @GrowGrayMatter  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Thank you fr sharing@@AzaleaBee. I will definitely make sure to insert a warning about eye health. I never stare at (or near) the Sun without sunglasses. But removing them while walking has been a major game changer for me. It makes sense that they would keep your eyes from getting the whole "message" that the Sun is sending to your brain.
      But I always keep an "eye" on safety as well. :)
