I luv Rod Stewart. But I think this song sounds a Lot different now than it did _then_ . If that makes sense. Especially the theme and lyrics. I think his other song (with the Beardsley Prints) would have probably impressed him more. in this day & age, this one's a little uncomfortable to hear. The opening line is amazing though. one of the best.

LOL I know exactly how Father feels. Some years ago my daughter (who knows how much I love musicals) sat me down to watch ALL of Hamilton. I still haven’t forgiven her. I know I am completely wrong about Hamilton but there it is. Q songwriting changed as their venues got larger and larger. I can remember Killer Queen being released and as a teenager I thought Freddie was so sophisticated in his fur coat. 😂 So I know all Q’s greatest hits. Recently I discovered reaction videos and the consensus seemed to be that BoRap came from out of the blue. I couldn’t believe it and decided to start at Queen’s first album and work my way through to the end. Early Q are an absolute joy and revelation. I then discovered the live shows. Bliss. Next will be the bootlegs. The rawness and emotional intimacy of White Queen is not to everyone’s taste but to see the seeds and craftsmanship gives me renewed appreciation and love for later hits that had grown stale.
