Not our song. Song belongs to Metallica

Queen performing “Stone Cold Crazy” LIVE at The Rainbow, 1974 is even better than the studio version. Faster, heavier, and Brian’s solo absolutely blisters 🔥🔥🔥
Oh easily, they definitely have to react to that version of it
I’ve seen it! That’s a great idea to show to my dad 🎸🤘 -Ethan
@@fatherandsonreactionsyou should! It’s quite the treat to listen to. Phenomenal performance.
Agreed! Phenomenal is the perfect word 🙌
I concur u should have reacted to the live version .i mean wi do studio version wem there is a live version???!
Interestingly, Metallica won a Grammy for this cover in 1992 and Queen got no recognition for this back in the early 70’s when it was first recorded. Some people say that this song by Queen was the first thrash metal song. Have a great weekend! 🤘
Wow interesting. If I had to get the reasoning for that, I’d say it could be because Queen weren’t that big when they released Stone Cold Crazy. On the other hand, Metallica were already universal when they released their cover! 🙌 -Ethan
Queen never won a Grammy which is an absolutely disgraceful thing. Queen were innovators and many bands followed their hard driving music that they invented.
Yeah it’s criminal Queen didn’t win a Grammy and Kanye has won how many ?
@@fatherandsonreactions Yes at that time they were not that big, but they became huge shortly after. They put out all kinds of great music, but music critics for the most part trash them, because they couldn't put them in a box, Queen literally could do any genre of music, they were fearless. They became the people's band all over the world, teens to grannies loved them and still do. The Grammys snubbed them. But Queen will have the last laugh, they are negotiating the sale of their catalog, so far it will go for over 1.1 billion dollars, it will be astronomical.
@@deboraclark5791 They never won a competitive Grammy, they did get a lifetime achievement award. In my opinion, that was too little too late. It shows how the Grammy's mean nothing.
Queen stone cold crazy live at the Rainbow 75 !!!mind- blowing
Queen was always ahead of their time. My favorite version of this song is live at the Rainbow 1974….very fast and heavy! Great reaction!
As a 75 yr. old woman, this is my 1st time hearing this. My reaction was pretty much like the father's. Good one.
Queen killed it. Metallica resuscitated it. LONG LIVE QUEEN!!!
Stone Cold Crazy isn't their heaviest song. "Modern Times Rock & Roll" is. In fact, I would put "Sheer Heart Attack" and "Dead on Time" ahead of it.
Queen 👍 better in every aspect
Metallica used 2 guitars in their version so got more guitar power. 🎸 They also did this at Freddie's 1992 memorial concert.
YA REALLY NEED TO DO MORE OFF OF THIS ALBUM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AGREED!!!!!!
Great album
One of a few good Queen covers but you can't beat the original. Queen are the GOAT
7:52 BRO I THOUGHT SOMEONE SCREAMED IN MY ROOM
Queen forever some of the GOATS!
Both versions kick ass. I believe this song was kinda like the gateway to thrash metal that became popular in the 80s. You had a point there Ethan when you said Metallica was inspired to make a cover of this. Metallica is a thrash metal band after all so they decided to do their own rendition of the song to kinda honor that song. Speaking of which Metallica is currently on tour right now and they are going to be playing shows with Pantera within the next month so go get the chance to see them if you can!
Woah Metallica & Pantera together? That sounds amazing. I’ll look into it - Ethan
Queen were extremely heavy in their early years. Queen were a big influence on Metallica.
Yeah I can definitely see that. Especially with Queen II
-Ethan
Queen❤
Queen junkie here ✌🏼😂 Never underestimate Queen darlings 😊 Metallica admired Queen. Love Metallica but Queen is the GOAT 😘👑💥✨💥✨💫
Oh trust me, we’d never understand them. I put them in my top 3 bands. Love Queen 🤘 -Ethan
Hello there! Now if Queen never had recorded that you'd think it was perfect for Metallica. The fast pace is equally good! Can't take anything away from Brian May but Metallica rocked it! Enjoy your weekend!
it definitely doesn't sound like Queen. Freddie must've been in the mood.
True! Or not getting his way! 😂
@@cherylreichardt That could be true. 😄😄
I agree Cheryl the structure from Kirk Hammets solo is better
Sugar Plum 😊 Agree I like the Metallica version best here .. that's a rarity for me😉
" Modern Times Rock and Roll" came first , and its faster !
Brian May’s guitar sounds so much heavier than Metalica’s cover but both are great, I still give it to queen, they had a lot of heavy songs
That's why I like version ofJames Hetfield perform this with Queen and Tommy Iommi in Freddie Mercury Tribute concert better than this one.
I know you're having trouble with videos getting blocked. It's amazing that you could play two songs today. When are you putting up a new poll?
I think this back to back comparison is cool 😎 But it's sure humid here. Hope all is well with you!
@@cherylreichardt Yeah, it would be nice to have some more. It's humid but not hot. Are you feeling better?
Hi Doug! New poll up in a little less than an hour. -Ethan
@@fatherandsonreactions Hi Ethan and hello to your dad. Cool, can't wait to find out what the songs are.
@@66edoug Yes I feel better. The air has improved except the humidity 🐱👍
Check out The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert where I believe Metallica performed together with the remaining members of Queen. I believe this was when Metallica added Stone Cold Crazy to their repertoire.
Hi guys, hope you're having a great weekend!
Hello! From race town USA !
@@cherylreichardt - Hello! I'll be watching the Austrian GP this weekend - Qualy highlights in a hour and half.
@@davemac1197The real race isn't until tomorrow late in the afternoon. Today are just the up and commers. It's very humid 😫
Hello Dave, hope you are having a great weekend too.
@@cherylreichardt Hi Cheryl!
I love both of these songs
Both are great. Original is well before it’s time, and Ethan’s absolutely right about the influence that the song had on younger bands that ended up doing speed and thrash metal years later.
That’s probably why the Queen version got no mainstream attention back in the day. It might not have been palatable in that way.
Metallica’s version has kinda become iconic. It’s a lot of fun live.
I think Stone Cold Crazy sounds like something that would be on Machine Head by Deep Purple
🤘😎🤘
You should compare the live versions of both of these ..
Queen knock Metallica out the park on the studio version and even further in the live version.. 👌
Queen Dead On Time
Enjoyed both versions but............nothing beats the original and Freddie Mercury. He grabbed the golden ring!
This is early Queen in 1974 (the album Sheer Heart Attack), before Bohemian Rhapsody, so it was still a little raw sounding. My sister was into them, but it's not to my taste. Best cover for me? I'd have to really think about it to come up with a list, but off the top of my head I'd have to go with Kim Wilde's 1986 cover of You Keep Me Hangin' On, a Holland-Dozier-Holland classic first recorded by the Supremes in 1966. Great to see y'all getting all excited though.
That Kim Wilde cover is fab!
@@cherylreichardt - Miss Smith was rather fab. I think she's more into gardening now.
@@davemac1197 You mean her Wilde days are over? 😁
@@cherylreichardt - well, she went back to performing during an '80s revival period in 2001-ish and started recording again, but I don't think she's done anything since the pandemic.
YELLO👋🏼😊
Great Reaction! Metallica has an album full of covers, among other famous bands that made versions of songs like Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bob Seger, Motorhead among others
Fast pace early metal songs can also be found in Deep Purple, like in Highway Star.
Great reaction! Love both versions and have heard both many times! I honestly think Hetfield’s voice fits the song better than Mercury’s voice but no question Freddy Mercury is the better singer! Also, still love the interaction between Larry and Ethan! Adds so much to the amazing reactions!
Thanks so much for the kind words! 😃 -Ethan
Loved both great song Larry&Ethan. Try sweet blockbuster 70s great song I think you two will love it.
Funny you bring up Aerosmith as they have been considered worthy rivals to Queen during the 70s it is regarded they had a mutual respect for each other and the rivalry was friendly and competitive. SCC is considered the first song that would be considered the Thrash Metal genre which makes sense why Metallica covered it. It is well known they regard Queen as a direct influence on their music.
NEWBIE HERE I LIVE QUEEN AN 70S AN 80S CLASSICAL ROCK AN ROLL ! I WANT TO CHECK YOU TWO OUT HOPE YOU DO OLD ROCK TUNES❤🥴🤪🤯😎☯️💯💫🤍🤎💜💙🧡💛🤘✌🏼🍄👑
That was a great idea and it worked really well showing just how heavy Queen could be in their early days.
If you want to do another another comparison I would suggest Queen's One Vision against Geburt Einer Nation by Laibach.
Laibach emerged in the early 80s in Yugoslav-controlled Slovenia after the death of Tito. They declared their own utopian state art collective with passports and in 2015 they became the first Western rock band to tour North Korea - where they played their martial covers of songs from the Sound of Music!!!😁
Woah! How was it even allowed for them to tour NK? -Ethan
Early live Queen is very heavy!
Yeah it sounds like a Metallica song because they were more of a speed metal band than Queen, having come after them of course.
Although at the time this was released, Queen and Sabbath were by no means the only bands playing heavy metal, the song is noted for being one of the first speed metal songs ever released.
Although the English band the sweet released another proto speed metal song called "set me free" there is no question that this song was more influential And Queen was playing it on their European and American tours in the mid '70s, So people can be forgiven if they label this as the first speed metal song.
The song was the first that had writing credits assigned to all four band members. Originally the song was a holdover from one of Freddy's early bands that never really went anywhere.
Brian noticed Freddie goofing around with this manic-paced song, and eventually the band chiseled it into the polished diamond that it was to become.
I like the clean version better, because Queen, but also because the song was very simple and to the point. It's true that Metallica added some guitar flourishes that developed after Eddie Van Halen and others, but I prefer the short and sweet version
The Troggs - Wild Thing
Cold Chisel - Wild Thing (live)
Please react to "Ogre Battle" & "The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke" by Queen 🤍
Not being into Metallica I haven't heard that before. I honestly don't believe it is as good as the Queen original. The drums don't quite sound right for me. Apart from that I'd say it's fair. As for Queen, the entire Sheer Heart Attack album is quite superb.
Fair point. Personally, I love both versions a lot. I agree that Sheer Heart Attack great! -Ethan
You should do Muse - Supremacy and Tarja's live cover version of it Tarja - Supremacy live at Woodstock 2016.
A great Queen track, that one had some bite to it. I haven't heard this Metallica cover but I know many Metallica songs.

You should listen to Spread Your Wings by Queen and Blind Guardian (cover)
Both good but i prefer Queens ending
THOSE THAT GREW UP WITH THEM KNOW HE CAN SING THAT FAST LOL METALLICAS COVER IS DELISHIOUS LOL!!!!!
Guys you can do Blinded by the light by Bruce Springsteen 1973 or Manfred Mann 1977
We’ve done The Manfred Mann version! We can’t react to the Springsteen one because we both know it -Ethan
My two favorite bands. Metallica di a good cover but out Queen of rock Is extremely difficult tò match in voice and talent
A compromise on the poll and a merge of songs. Good stuff , enjoyed the video.
"Willie And The Hand Jive" by Johnny Otis covered by Clapton or for wrestling fans George Thorogood-Willie And The Hand Jive.mpg.
Or any Dylan song , the covers are usually better. Miley Cyrus and The Roots "Baby I'm In The Mood" peace.
LIKE for Queen
LAUGH for Metallica
They should have had Metallica set up so they could compare the two back to back. It is early Queen which like most bands is more raw and usually better. At least that’s my preference until they start generalizing their music to suit more people. Don’t want to say the words “sell out” but y’all know what I mean.
Oh oh oh … I jumped the gun on my comments . Good job having them back to back. You read my mind… cheers!
Ethan have you listened to Garage Inc? The tribute to Merciful Fate is awesome! If you wanna see a real cool video they do the entire collection of songs live and they got King Diamond to come sing with them. It’s really cool!
Haha! Did you think we wouldn’t have the Metallica version? 😁
I haven’t listened to all of to Garage Inc but I’ve heard “Whiskey in the Jar” -Ethan
@@fatherandsonreactions Oh dude you are missing a lot. The Motörhead covers are sick too. But honestly if you ve never heard Merciful Fate You can’t appreciate their whole medley
As usual, the original is better.
Disagree completely.
Not
You can’t always get it at all.
Hey Y'all 👋🏼 Ethan, Ethan, ETHAN!! R u sitting down? And ready for this? Gotta tell ya I didn't like the way Queen started this one .. just sounded too jumbled for lack of a better word nor did I like the way either of them ended, sudden impact😉 BUT I actually liked the Metallica version much better. I'm also glad you showed this one to me. Imagine that😊 Alright dont give me no flack y'all, it's how my brain & ears interpreted it all. I do admire Queen for putting their hand in this thrashy track literally very early on .. but I'd choose Metallica for this number every time. Y'all stay cool & safe. Peace out ☮️🤘🏼❣️ Btw: maybe do a poll with original & covers for more dbl features 🤔
I remember hearing the Queen version alot because my friend in high school loved Queen and got me hooked on the band. We'd be in her basement blasting her stereo. Imagine if the Metallica version was back then. The house would have exploded 😯😁👍
Hi Ramona! Definitely not the best Queen song.
An original and a cover poll would be great. They may have to change it to "Poll Twosday" 😉
Peace, and happiness Ramona!
@@cherylreichardt LOL .. Oh but I CAN imagine Girl😁
@@66edoug Hey now that's an exceptional idea Doug .. "Twosday"!!! Made me chuckle for sure😁 Ethan could do switch ups .. make it more interesting 🤔 Ethan don't get aggravated, we promise we ain't tryna run ur channel .. just networking a bit & tossing it out here. 😊
I love Queen but this one was a lot diff. Plus early on Queen which surely affected the sound quality a bit too.
@@ramonaalvarez7559 😊Yeah, just spitballin' ideas and suggesting things.
Queen was heavy to begin with. The end.
I like the Queen original a lot better. Freddie is a way better singer. Brian May is a fantastic guitarist.
You have to write the song first , before someone else can cover it .😉
Queen is better😊
