Not our song. Song belongs to War
source:
In the 2000 movie Gone in 60 Seconds, this song got the "old school" car thieves into the mood to steal the cars. It's also the opening song in the 1978 Cheech & Chong comedy movie Up In Smoke, and along with "Why Can't We Be Friends?" one of two War songs featured in the 1993 film Dazed And Confused, which is set in 1976
Dazed and Confused has the best soundtrack of any movie
Glad you chose this one off my cowbell list Ethan. A cowbell extravaganza.
It's always nice seeing the joy in kid's eye's as they enjoy something from your past that they've never heard or seen before. It always brightens a parents heart when its their kid.
Classic WAR
THE CISCO KID
ALL DAY MUSIC
WHY CAN'T WE BE FRIENDS
SUMMER
✌
This is a brilliant song - virtually the definition of cool! Probably the best way to describe them is a Latin, jazz-funk collective.
Spill The Wine is another great song of theirs - check out the live version from Beat Club in 1970 it is superb.
Also Cisco Kid-WAR(72 live Funk) is great but with different singers
This always reminds me of going to the "fun fair" as a kid.....this was always being played on the "Waltzer"... a fast spinning carousel type of ride......this song and felling dizzy go together😊
1970 something, low rider with the top down cruising the streets with good friends……excellent
WAR is Progressive soul. R&B. ✌
Thank y'all so much for bringing back some great memories with this one. More times of great one of a kind music, that cannot be duplicated. Always a great classic cruising song. As always-much love&respect ❤❤
ONE of the most ICONIC BASS LINES EVER! ✌
Hey there! This is the most coolest hits from War! Love how it's presented with the singing style and hip groove! Cowbell represented well 👍
classified as funk, latin rock, etc. "Why can't we be friends?" is the title song of that al
This tune was the theme song for the old George Lopez comedy show and used in other formats. wish the solo on the end could have been longer.
If I may recommend War Sun oh Son, it’s definitely one of their best piece of work.
WAR actually had a number of hits throughout the 70s, but "Spill The Wine" (#3, 1970), "Why Can't We Be Friends?" (#6, 1975), and "Low Rider" (#7, 1975) seem to be the only ones most people really remember nowadays. "Cisco Kid" sometimes turns up on the "deep cuts" stations -- which is doubly peculiar since, going strictly by the charts, it was their highest-charting single, at #2 in 1972, but it seems to have just fallen out of the general consciousness since then for some reason.
Their other big top-40s were "All Day Music" (#35, 1971), "Slippin' Into Darkness" (#16, 1972), "The World Is A Ghetto" (#7, 1972), "Gypsy Man" (#8, 1973), "Me and Baby Brother" (#15, 1973), and "Summer" (#7, 1976).
still sounds as good today as the day it was released
War's "Cisco Kid" is in the same vein as "Low Rider", also great are "The World Is A Ghetto", "Why Can't We Be Friends" and the moody "Four Cornered Room". Great band!
Low Rider - Great War - Good Peace - More Good
Hey Yogi! Yeah, I prefer when War has cowbells.

This was in a couple movies Ethan . Was featured in “Gone in 60 Seconds”. Cage was jammin to it before he went on the heist.
Great Review of the Song "Low Rider " by War , & Eric Burdon (from , the Animals ) did alot of collaborations with WAR on songs , this song was also Featured in the Cheech and Chong Film "Up in Smoke " as the Film Opens ,(from 1978 )Rock on Peace🎼🎵🎶🎹✌✌✌
Off topic for the band War... There is a song titled "War" nothing to do with the band War. The song was written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong for The Temptations. However, it was Edwin Starr (Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict) who made the song a Super Hit! I suggest putting Edwin Starr's version of "War" into a poll... In 1970, his version charted at number one! Edwin Starr's version the song War rocks! In their faces anti war song...
LARRY WAS TAKEN ON A LITTLE TRIP! LOL. ✌
I've heard this song a lot. Mostly in movies and tv.
Was it responsible for the whole 'low rider' thing with cars?
@@davemac1197 No, low riders have been around since the 40s.
@@66edoug - maybe they start travelling backwards in time when they reach 88 mph?
@@davemac1197 That is crazy enough to work.
Hello there!
With all these classics on this channel, I cannot believe at all that you do not have that many songs by JOURNEY, Steve Perry wasn't called "The Voice" back in the day for nothing...I mean "Don't stop Believin", "Open Arms", "Faithfully", "Lovin, touchin, squeezin"...you have GOT to check out Journey...
WAR is a really interesting and eclectic group of musicians - now you need to listen to “The World is a Ghetto” (long version of course!)
First time I ever heard this I thought it was old ZZ Top mostly based on the voice
CLASSIC! ✌
Spill the Wine, it's very different too.
This is a great piece to review. Especially if the focus is cowbells. II have been away from Father and Son Reactions for too long. Young Ethan has not only grown in knowledge and experience in the music of the past 60 years but he has just grown. Peace guys. Pablo
Hi Pablo! It’s great to see you back. We’ve missed ya! Hope you’ve been doing alright! 🙌 -Ethan
I would put this into the same category as Jungle Boogie by Kool & The Gang (1973), which appeared on the 1994 Pulp Fiction film soundtrack. Definitely an oddity. This song released late 1975/early '76 charted at #7 on Billboard's Hot 100, #1 on their R&B chart, and #12 on the UK Singles chart. Not really my funky sort of thing, but I do like a bit of cowbell. By way of contrast, my 1975 music diary includes SOS by ABBA and January 1976 was the release date for ELO's Evil Woman.
Your two diary choices are well approved of! 😉
Definitely a mexican/latino vibe in this song -- love it!!!
( let's see, Wikipedia puts it in the Funk and Latin Rock genres, but it is its own genre )
I haven't heard this song in yrs. I remember it in a cheech and chong movie.
Hey guys, you need to do the More Cow Bells music skit from Saturday night live with Will Ferrell adding cow bells to a real song. It's a classic. Just for fun. Peace!
Cisco kid, he was a friend of mine
Seems like everything that Eric Burdon touched turned to gold
I'm sure you know the lead singer from the animals is this lead singer at times. In war
Didn’t know! Thanks for the info -Ethan
This was not eric burden though
Maybe Supermax Love Machine?
And Rock on 🔊🎼🎵🎶🎤
Begin with the Cheech and Chong movies I'm sure you'll find This song in 1 of those... You're old enough to watch them now.. Plus Cheech and Chong actually are musical performers as well....... Mama talking to me my mind is like a seive

Hi guys! Happy weekend!
Hi Dave!
A cowbell extravaganza song on my cowbell list of songs.
@@metalmark1214 Definitely, it adds to the uniqueness of the song.

War not better than Van Halen? Really? Let's go back to the Eric Burdon & War days with Spill The Wine.
Terrible song tbh...sounds like something from a sesame Street skit 😂
