@@fatherandsonreactions Great reaction by both of you by the way. Loved watching your reactions! Duran Duran were labeled the Fab Five by the press when they started their N. American tour in 1984.
Twenty years earlier, The Fab Four arrived in New York & were met with hysteria by their fans. That was what it was like with Duran Duran when they were in the U.S. & Canada, & frankly throughout the world back in the day. It was utter pandemonium around the band.
You two should do a reaction of Duran Duran's 1984 Los Angeles press conference.
First, what bands do press conferences in the first place? The Beatles in 1964 & then Duran Duran in 1984 that's who.
Second, don't do the entire press conference but just 46 seconds of it. A user has already uploaded the edited version of the 46 second interview.
Last, like The Beatles, who were self-effacing, fun & humorous musicians- that's what comes through in this 46 seconds of video of Duran Duran, who were between the ages of 21 & 25 & were in the realm of being the biggest band in the world.
This is such a serendipitous moment. These 46 seconds are classic & funny & had the entire press & the band in laughs with their double entendre answer to the reporter's question. Just hilarious.

Duran Duran made 6 videos from songs that were on the Rio album. The videos were filmed in London, Antigua & Sri Lanka. "My Own Way" (London), Lonely in Your Nightmare" (London & Sri Lanka), "Hungry Like the Wolf" (Sri Lanka), "Save a Prayer" (Sri Lanka), "Rio" (Antigua) & "The Chauffeur" (London). My Own Way was released in November 1981 & a re-worked version eventually ended up on the Rio album, released in May 1982, when Duran Duran went into the studio to make the Rio album. "Lonely in Your Nightmare" & "The Chauffeur" were album tracks.

When Rhodes was 20, he got Kajagoogoo signed to Duran Duran's record label EMI & then co-produced Kajagoogoo's debut album w/Colin Thurston, who produced Duran Duran's debut & Rio albums. Interestingly, Kajagoogoo's debut single "Too Shy" reached #1 in the UK in February 1983 before any of Duran Duran's 7 previously released singles ever reached #1 in the UK. Duran Duran's 8th UK single, "Is There Something I Should Know?" reached #1 a month after "Too Shy" & the single debuted at #1, which was a rare feat not done since the 1960s in the UK at the time.

"Girls On FIlm", from their first album in 1981, charted at #5 in the UK. It didn't chart in the US, but it became popular a couple of years later when it got heavy airplay on MTV when the album was reissued in 1983 for the US market with the addition of "Is There Something I Should Know?", which was originally a non-album single release, to the album's track list.

Rio was a big hit in the UK (#9) and the US (#14), but I'm not a big fan of their '80s work, I was still following '70s bands that were struggling on, trying to adapt and survive in the brave new world of hair gel and shoulder pads, but their work in the next two decades sounded much more mature to my ears:
    Ordinary World (1993) UK #6, US #3
    Come Undone (1993) UK #13, US #7
(Reach Up For The) Sunrise (2004) UK #5 US #89
What Happens Tomorrow (2005) UK #11
There's quite a rich seam to explore in Duran Duran, whatever your favourite decade happens to be, so long as it's after they landed on Planet Earth in 1981 (UK #12)

Too bad you couldn't play the video. The best thing about the
    song was the video (czcams.com/video/nTizYn3-QN0/video.html)

That was OK but I must admit I was never a great fan of theirs. Being a bit of a sci-fi nerd at the time I hooked onto the fact that they took their name from a character in the science fiction film Barbarella from the late 60s. It is a weird film that probably doesn't stand the test of time too well to be honest!
