No mention of Supreme Overlord? Kingambit is solidly the most popular mon in Singles at the moment, and while it survived it's suspect test, pretty much everybody is starting to realize that it's presence in OU is generation defining. It's ability rewards you for your teammates fainting. With Kingambit as the last mon you basically have a Choice Band boost on your STABs. Combine that with Tera being allowed in Smogon Singles, almost guaranteeing a free turn of Swords Dance setup and then... 810 Atk at +2 with a 105 base power Sucker Punch before STAB. Absurd. It's base attack is already insane and it's so bulky as it is, which lets it take advantage of all its tools. At the beginning of the gen almost everyone ran Tera Flying with Leftovers, but other teras picked up in popularity with anti-meta Tera Fairy with Tera Blast, and the ridiculous Tera Dark + Black Glasses "+2 252+ Atk Black Glasses Supreme Overlord 5 allies fainted Tera Dark Kingambit Sucker Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Great Tusk: 244-288 (65.7 - 77.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO" The fact it comfortably 2HKOs GREAT TUSK of all things, a Pokemon with that EXTREME physical bulk archetype AND a resistance to Dark... it's a very similar calc to Specs Kyogre doing about that much damage to a Blissey with a max power Water Spout in the rain. Not to mention, +4 is close to a guaranteed OHKO against that Great Tusk set which also doesn't carry Close Combat, meaning if you switch into Tusk before attacking the healthy 'Gambit you pretty much cannot prevent the OHKO. And if you guessed it's set wrong and it was Tera Fairy Tera Blast, or Tera Flying and you didn't Ice Spinner predicting the tera, it gets even more sketchy. Kingambit definitely has "checks" in Singles, Scarf Gholdengo with Trick, Iron Valiant with Encore, Dondozo (if 'Gambit isn't Tera Dark Black Glasses), Pokemon with Will-O-Wisp (provided it's not Tera Fire), or Substitute, etc. but they all need to matchup into the right Kingambit set, AND be healthy, AND have some teammates to support them in their thwarting of a Kingambit reverse sweep. From Turn 1, it is a struggle, just to even see Kingambit on the opponents team. If your plan to deal with it is not perfectly preserved over the course of a game then there is a very high chance you will lose in a reverse sweep to the Sucker Punch guessing minigame. And, your checks don't even guarantee safety if you didn't prepare for the right set. That is, if the end of the game isn't just a Kingambit mirror, which is pretty common given the usage stats. In which case you better be running Low Kick, or Tera Fairy Tera Blast to beat opposing Tera Dark, or just run more speed and Sucker Punch into their Tera Flying, blah blah blah Kingambit might not be so unfair as to be broken and thus banned, but man, it is genuinely stupid. So many stolen games by reverse 6-0 sweeps. Definitely the posterchild of Gen 9 for insane abilities. It has somehow managed to be #1 in a metagame where for the longest time beforehand, Great Tusk was #1, the de facto hazard control Pokemon which almost completely replaced LANDORUS FREAKING THERIAN in OU. A Ground and Fighting type! With tons of bulk! And 'Gambit is still everywhere! It's wild

The only advantage Bulu had over Rillaboom was having Horn Leech, which was a much bigger and immediate recovery option over the terrain. Even Drain Punch doesn't make up the difference on the recovery either. That said, Rillaboom still outclasses Bulu is every other way.

This one really hurt a lot of people because Ledian had that perfect mix of cute and cool that makes it appeal to everybody... and it totally sucks. As in, even in regular game its too much of a hassle to bring it all the way to the league.

I honestly do think that megas as “team captains” are actually a very cool concept which is slept on the people. And saying “you have to run one of them” should feel less of a limitation for each gen they are added (you wouldn’t be complaining megas are centralizing if there were 70 of them, specially if there were a rule that only allowed one per team, and not one per battle). And I do agree that they should be balanced about equally. Maybe do something like Paradox forms, which everyone have 570 or 590 stats (maybe for megas it should be 650 for weaker ones, 670 for stronger ones, like pseudo legendaries, and 770 for people like groudon).

9:57 They are sleeves. I've seen it depicted in some, albeit bs, martial arts where long sleeves will be used as a defensive tool. It serves as a disjoint to slap away incoming strike, potentially wrap up their weapon/limb, blind them, stuff like that. Pretty cool in theory, but isn't really practical and wouldn't work in a real fight.

Im glad competitive players like it, but i wont be watching any future competitive pokemon with open teamsheets. Its just not as interesting of a viewing experience for me.
