    Wo-Chien + AV Archaludon has been a duo that has given me much success recently. It hard counters physical attackers since Tablets of Ruin ignores defiant. You can pollen puff to restore Archaludon’s health and make its stamina boosts even more relevant. The duo also deals with psyspam if you have snarl on Wo-Chien since both resist or are immune to psychic moves.

      @@iancastro1327 Ogerpon can be annoying with redirection (so you should have a spread sweeper in the back), but it can’t actually touch the duo. Admittedly the duo can’t do much to Incineroar, so you’ll need another mon in the back to deal with it. Flutter Mane is somewhat manageable unless it has support, in which case you also will need another mon in the back to deal with it.
      The duo isn’t equipped to handle all threats, but it handles a lot of key ones very well.

    Dragapult + Weezing is incredible! I run Jolly, Steel Tera Dragapult with 252 atk, 220 speed, 4 in both defenses, and the rest in HP. 220 speed allows you to outspeed max speed/Jolly/Timid Chien Pao and Iron Bundle, so the only thing you need to fear is other Dragapult or choice scarf users when Weezing is next to it. I use Phantom Force with Power Herb, U-Turn, Will-o-wisp, and Dragon Darts. Phantom Force is a great opening move when players try to use a Tornadus/Fluttermane lead, and they think they can protect Flutter while they set up tailwind.
    I run Wolfe's set for Weezing, and it is a fantastic and consistent set. 👌

    What about Tinkaton? It has mold breaker fake out that helps against the plethora of currently common archetypes like dragpao teams with inner focus as well as girafarig teams. Being an incredibly fast encore user also makes it a decent option too which can punish a few team comps or mons. A lot of teams also have only one answer against the typing with fire being on nearly every single team or ground type moves as flex choice.

    no idea if it's good but i've been having success on the showdown ladder with comfey as a calm mind sweeper, if you can get some boosts up and intimidate support it becomes nearly unkillable, especially thanks to priority draining kisses that heal you a ton. Triage is actually an insane ability, you basically don't need speed control if you hace comfey since you go before everything, even fake out if you're faster, i run comfey alongside incin and lando-t for intimidate, pivoting and to hit the steel, fire and poison types that resist it, and rilla since its grassy terrain gives extra healing, boosts comfey's giga drains and overwrites psychic terrain if necessary

    I think Sableye has a lot of potential. Alongside Prankster and an amazing typing, it has one of the best support movepools of any Pokemon, so if there's a hyper-specific support role you want for your team, Sableye might be the only Pokemon that has the moves to fill it. I often see it used as a screens setter, which is definitely a valid way to use it, but kind of makes it look like a worse Grimmsnarl. The main thing holding it back is its poor stats, but I still think some specific teams could hugely benefit from its unique skillset

    I wanted to try to make a VGC team around my favorite mon (well, the fully evolved form of my favorite mon), Ambipom.
    I realized it actually weirdly slots in kinda well into the current meta. There are probably still mons who do what it wants to do but better, and I doubt it'd be able to make it far in a real tournament without a decent amount of luck, but here's the set I've been running (no complex EVs):
    Tera Poison
    Item: Wide Lens
    Jolly 252 Atk/252 Spe/4 SpDef
    Fake Out
    Gunk Shot
    Triple Axel
    U-Turn
    The only common mons in the meta that out speed it are Flutter Mane and Chien Pao. Tera Poison allows me to resist their two primary options against me (Flutter Mane isn't clicking Shadow Ball into a Normal type, so 9/10 times it's a Fairy move, and Chien Pao is using Sacred Sword usually against a Normal type, which is resisted by Tera Poison). The important thing is that Tera Poison Gunk Shot basically always OHKOs Flutter Mane depending on investment, and if Flutter Teras first (assuming Fairy), it's obviously super effective and kills without me needing to Tera. Gunk Shot is also great for all of the Ogerpons, who Ambi outspeeds. Bait a Follow Me by having Urshi-R out and just OHKO it. Or if it uses Spiky Shield, you're not making contact.
    Triple Axel OHKOs Lando-I and Lando-T even at -1 from intimidate. Wide Lens pretty much guarantees you land all 3 hits (99% each), while also making Gunk Shot 88% accurate. I had considered something like Clear Amulet instead, but when I kill two of the main things Triple Axel is for through intimidate, I find that being able to rely on actually landing the 3 hits consistently is more valuable.
    My Fake Out is faster than any other common Fake Out user and does a decent chunk of damage with STAB and Technician, so you have to respect it, which allows me to go for bolder plays.
    Having a fast U-Turn is also great when it hits mons like Rilla, Ogerpon (not Hearthflame), Farigiraf, etc. super effectively, though I have been considering swapping it for something like Taunt instead, since many times I need to hard swap to avoid priority like Sucker Punch or something like protect messing up my pivot attempt.
    Fake Out being its "best" niche is unfortunate for it in VGC since every good team is already built to deal with that move. But Technician Triple Axel is pretty unexplored territory I think. That move hits super hard for a non-STAB move. Originally I was Tera Ice even, but most of the time it doesn't seem to even make a difference, so that's why I opted for Tera Poison instead.
    Ambipom is not a great mon, and like I said it probably falls a lot flatter in Bo3 open team sheets, but I think people have sort of neglected its speed tier with the existence of way faster mons as well as Oger hitting just below, so it gets away with a lot. Maybe someone can make better use of it than me.

    I’ve been using eviolite bayleef, 252+ def 252 sp.def and 4 hp. I gave it reflect, light screen, helping hand and synthesis on it but leech seed shouldn’t be overlooked.

    Scream Tail isn’t exactly anti-meta, but it’s definitely my favorite niche pick. People don’t respect Encore enough and there’s so many choice Pokémon, disable is an absolute menace of a move.

    • @dankeykang8243
      @dankeykang8243 Před 3 měsíci

      Disable always seemed OP to me, especially late game. Just straight up no more Ivy Cudgel/Surging Strikes/Thunderclap whatever

  • @jacksonfranks1492
    @jacksonfranks1492 Před 3 měsíci

    Kinda surprised Gastrodon isn't meta. Resists Incin and immune to Surging Strikes and Thunderclap naturally.
    Give it fire tera and it loses electric immunity but gains resistance to Rilla, Water/Fire/Grass Ogerpon and DG/Moonblast from Flutter.
    It may not have the best Sp.Atk, but Ice Beam and and Earth Power give it so much coverage in the current meta.
    Also forces switches with Yawn or and it can stick around for a long time with Recover.

  • @VoermanIdiot
    @VoermanIdiot Před 3 měsíci +1

    The ability shield Incin is actually such a rad idea. Sure, if you can't bring Weezing then it kind of doesn't really do much for the Incin, but hey. Incin's there to be a problem and survive things it has no right to survive.
    As for off-meta, I honestly still think that Alcremie is a good threatening support. The fact that you can have something like a Lando-I protect and you can decorate through the protect to give Lando +2 or any offensive mon that would really enjoy a +2 boost without risking being open to getting OHKO'd that move - like an Araquanid, Porygon-Z, Bloodmoon, either Urshifu, Raging Neck with a bulkier set and so on. I would say especially Araquanid due to not being able to get burned and absolutely makes Amoonguss irrelevant due to Sweet Veil. In fact, a +2 Araquanid has a roll (a very bad one) to OHKO an Amoonguss with Liquidation without even going for tera.
    It has decent bulk on the special side and a fairly respectable 110 SpA, so you can go pretty hard into health/defense bulk. Has helping hand, has encore, has fake tears if you want to put it next to a special attacker, can obviously throw out 110SpA DGleams, I think the main thing holding Alcremie back aside from it's awfully awkward speed tier, is the fact that it doesn't get Moonblast, and the fact that it doesn't get Reflect - only Light Screen. Sure, you could use a Smeargle instead but then you're stuck pressing Decorate due to the immense need to use Choice Scarf.

  • @lucasaquino732
    @lucasaquino732 Před 3 měsíci

    in my opinion, Lucario with choice band, with bullet punch is a great counter for fluttermane

    • @VoermanIdiot
      @VoermanIdiot Před 3 měsíci

      I mean there's no reason not to use Metagross for a bullet punch bot, it's stronger and has better coverage, also has some of the strongest heavy slams in the game. Hell, Scizor is a better bullet punch bot than Lucario.
      Of course, if you like Lucario you should keep using it if you want. But in the sense that if you want to delete a Flutter, Metagross is a better option simply because if there's a priority blocker then you can still heavy slam and they would have to be 252HP/252Def and something like tera fire to survive at any point and you also take full advantage of potential psychic terrain with Psychic Fangs.
