My fear is that opening up some parts of the ecosystem could make those features unpopular and diminish their viability as a product. For example, I love that all app subscriptions on iOS are through the App Store. I can see all my subscriptions in one place and can be confident unsubscribing won’t be a hassle. If App developers could, they would certainly require subscribing on their website. This would benefit developers but hurt consumers.
