Yamaha FG800 demo
Yamaha has always been a consistent bet when it comes to acoustics and this one was no exception. I’ve already written half a dozen songs on it and used it live. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a budget, durable quality acoustic.

Ibanez AAM series new for 2024

I think this new for 2024 Ibanez lineup is really cool! I also think they will be popular with the acoustic pop crowd because of the looks and body size that seem to be in demand for that genre. I can’t wait to get one of these guitars in my hands and try it out! I think Martin made a good move in changing this lineup a little bit, but not so far as to lose the essence of the X series. What do you think?

I have heard and keep hearing stories of companies that can’t handle the opinions of individuals with a camera. This seriously needs to stop. Our instruments serve a purpose and if they don’t then we are limiting our ability and creativity by using them. So, thanks Rhett! Martin d10 blows away orangewood easily
Thanks for the video! Great guitar too! Was the clean channel playing using some kind of acoustic pickup along with the bridge electric pickup? I’ve got an Acoustasonic and I’m playing thru a Boss Katana but I’m looking to change it for this. Really appreciated how it sounded with the chords 👍🏼 loads of reviews don’t cover that as a rhythm amp so it was great to hear.
Put a lace purple in the bridge. You know you have to. Make it whole. Rails have no character.
Ive subscribed to see ur review in future
The pickups u r getting for that price is crazy. Any player who involve in lots of plugged in stage performance these line of guitars are perfect a great value for money. Beats any pickup sound of its competitors.
Looking for Faithful God by Shanon Waxelberg.
Can the guitar volume and a backtrack playing off the BT channel volume be separated with the guitar volume louder?
2:35 - The AAM370E is the one I have my eye on. I was about to order it, but noticed that it won't be back in stock until September. I've been checking out a LOT of acoustics online and this one spoke to me.
I had bought the academy12e but few days After that I changed it for the 22e cause it sounds a little bit better to my ear. The walnut makes it sound warmer and woodier (sounds great with Martin retro strings too) and more balanced on the strumming. Yes it's laminated but still better sounding than an Epiphone IBG hummingbird which IS all solid wood I could compare with (in that Price range)
Welcome! best bands: C
Can you still oil the fretboard with the wooden inlays without any discoloration?
Much ado about nothing. 😎
Great info. I thought you were going to mention a pedal compressor. Some do not like the Wampler EGO, but I have found it easy to work with. When I bought it a few years ago at GC, the sales guy played a semi acoustic with and without compression. I was blown away at the difference in quality. Some state they find a compressor to be a crutch, but I think a bit of light compression can make an average sounding guitar player sound better. For the scooped mids, if using an EQ pedal, you'd say bring 800 to 1K down a few dbs?
I am right now itoday n the process of building my pedal board and thought i would check out some videos to get some ideas. After several videos I saw yours. No need to watch anymore. This is Perfect! Thank You for posting this!
Been in c standard for years. Perfecto for folk and lower voices.
Bad reverb on your voice and awful music in background.
Pass on this guitar for me.
The recording is TOO muddy. Needs treble, reverb low, needs to sound balanced and crisp. Sounds muffled. I bought one 5 years ago, mine is crisp.
Thank you for your video! You provided me with all the information I needed and I got one from Amazon today. It’s great especially for the price as you pointed out. And one of the things I really like about it other than it sounds great is that it fits nicely in all of my acoustics which have different size sound holes. In particular I was concerned about how it would fit in my Recording King Dirty 30’s Series 7 which has a narrow sound hole and it fits nicely.
Great video. Nice playing and insightful comments. Sorry you had to sell your Martin but I’m sure you had a good reason. This Yamaha is a very nice guitar.
how would ou compare this to the 820??
I haven’t had a chance to compare but I’d probably still choose this one.
How is the fretboard? Not so much the action, but the maneuverability sliding up chords. I hear it's a bit dry, and not very smooth, but still great for what you're getting. What are your thoughts?
It’s actually really good. I need to oil it but naturally it’s still looks good and feels good. The frets were surprisingly good too.
@@hoffguitars479 Awesome thanks! I'm getting a guitar just like it!
beautiful guitar, and beautiful sound. I love the black.
It sounds good bro!! Question for ya, did you have to adjust your truss rod? Just wondering. I saw your comment about the string guages for tension purposes. Personally I like the relief of string tension the C# standard tuning gives me. I have my normal guages I play on the acoutsic still. I have only had my guitar tuned this way for a day so. I havent noticed if I need any relief or etc. Just wanted to know if what to expect I guess haha. Thank again in advanced for your help!
I should have with this guitar but didnt. The one i have now is set up a little better.
Fishman Mic Blend pickup is the best option!
Why is this an oliver anthony guitar lmao
Why are the opinions of this guitar so controversial across the forums? Some folks love and some say they do not like it at all, not just the look but the sound, especially compared to 000-15m. I tried both 000-15m and 000-16sm in store, and 000-15m sounded great, but I wished more overtones, 000-15m had to few, much more fundementals and little overtones. I just got pulled to 000-16sm as a magnet, even compared it to Taylors of American Dream series, 000-18 Martin, it did not do it to me. So I got the 000-16sm. But it still puzzles me why opinions about this guitars are kind of split into two camps - lovers and haters.
This was a splendid and honest review. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
I think they sound terribly as a standard guitar. Better as a dobro. But that's simply my opinion
I enjoyed your playing and took notice of you style and chords to file away (I'm a newbie at 10 months on guitar), I ordered one of the Martin 000-X2E Models like you stated, there is something unique about their sound, ahem 🤗 and price point. At present I have an old Japanese made classic from the 60's that has a very pleasant resonate sound to it along with a Fender Redondo ( California Series) Cutaway that is gutsy and not afraid to speak out. I'm excited to see what the 000-X2E will give me. Thanks, very good vid.
Sunburst, Sunburst,
Why are people asking how to tune to c standard? Google it! Don't play in c standard it sounds dumb play in standard. Or hell even play a baritone acoustic but not c standard please it just makes any acoustic set even 13s feel like 9s. Take your hat off indoors too you uncultured swine.
I am very intrigued by these guitars, I love Ibanez but I do not like the high pressure laminate back and sides. To get an all solid AA series in an auditorium shape you have to drop at least $2500, and frankly for that kind of money I'd much rather buy a Taylor 314. There is nothing in between the $899 and $2500 price bracket, I think they would have had a real solid contender if they could have introduced a stripped down all solid guitar for around the 1000 to 1500 range, I would have been on board for something like that. I think at $899 they have something that can compete with a Taylor 214 at a cheaper price, but also at $899 a Yamaha A3M or A3R is a much better guitar than both IMO.
What is better Ibanez aw54 opn or new Ibanez aam54 opn?
I checked out the AAM54 at $250, but I'm digging the AAM370E. Should I get the $699 or the $249 guitar. What do you think?
I've been playing an aw54 for years. I'd argue it's the best beginner guitar. It's the best sounding in my little group and its been really reliable. Literally never cased and dinged all over the place and has held up, sat in my car for a whole winter and it's still solid. Haven't done anything but change the strings. I swear by the aw54.
@@clintonharris8778 Ibanez acoustic guitars seems to be highly underrated. I like both the AW54 and the AAM54 but I love the look of the AAM54 a lot. Some say they're better than Yamaha acoustics. Should I shell out an additional $450 for the AAM54?
I agree, most of them I have played are comparable to the next price up or better. I haven't played the aam370e. I think my next one is gonna be aeg70 I played one at guitar center and it's just a really comfortable guitar. Loses some volume unplugged but I need an electric/acoustic. I'd say it depends on what your looking for and experience. If your new to the guitar and just kinda playing around I'd get the cheaper aam54. It's gonna be a great guitar for a long time. If you play a lot and have a plans for any stage time with it. I'd recommend the better one but I'd say definitely go play a $400-$450 Ibanez. I honestly thought most of them in that price range played as good as any $600-$800 dollar Ibanez. I will say guild offered a $600 or acoustic electric guitar I played and it was probably the choice I'd get if I spent that much. Neck preference was all, I didn't feel it had better tone or anything.
🤘 'promo sm'
my Taylor 624 was great at first now it is terrible. I've adjusted pickups so at least they have better volume Compared to Fender it still suits plugged in..PRS is best and easiest to play 1980s Washburn thin line festival series also was great in its day now electrics issue.
Dude your not even close to the right chord pattern
I've got several Martin's, a D18, GPC x series and a DCX2E. You just convinced me that I need a 000 in my collection. Those who say the x series are not real Martins are just biased. I love my D18 and the sound of it is just amazing. My x series guitars are played a lot more and they sound every bit as good as the standard series to my ear.
This guy does not know his ass from page 8 in the manual. It would serve his audience well to first do your research before you speak. Your critical comments reflect your inexperience.
I’ve been looking at them online for a few months and really considering getting the parlor. From what I’ve heard/seen from other reviews, is that they are louder when unplugged compared to the acoustasonic (not 100% sure, that’s just from watching other video reviews) I really like the thought of a thinner acoustic (my right shoulder has been killing me recently and it actually hurts reaching over my acoustic I have right now…tmi) so I love the idea of a thinner body. I love the looks of the Highway series also. Very sleek while keeping the traditional shape. So at this point I’m trying to justify spending the money on it right after I bought an electric….lol
Thanks for this
That guitar is jumbo bro?
No not quite. Jumbos are a little bigger in the front.
How is it that even old martins seem to be much more durable than other guitar brands? My grandpa has one from the 70s and it hasn't needed any major restoration work. And it has been through all sorts of different climates and extreme weather.
From what little I know about old martins they built them heavier in the 70s than in other decades. Thicker wood and heavier bracing I think.
I tried the fg800 at the music store a few months ago and to my ear it sounded better than some much more expensive guitars which I have tried. I really loved it. I think it may have to do with the scalloped bracing that they use. I really want to get one! But first I may have to thin out the herd 😂
lol! Yeah man I get that I buy and sell all the time.
Hello, I have the same amplifier, when I turn bass-0, middle-0, treble-0 I can't hear anything, do you have the same problem?
I haven’t tested that yet. I will try it and get back to you.
@@hoffguitars479ok :)
@@hoffguitars479Have you checked yet?
How did you buy this guitar in the black colorway? All the ones I've seen are only in the original color. Great playing btw.
I found this on Reverb, they might have discontinued the color option.
Being heavier than the average martin, does it have any neck dive to you
Just a little bit when standing. It’s not heavy to correct with the way the strap hangs though.
Love my 212! The GC body is great.
And yes you should try the CORT A6 GOLD wich are one of the best guitar i have tried 👍😉
Maybe you should put a some interest in Guild, Seagull and Parkwood too. And also talk about the nuts lenghs because i think nobody never talks about but for me i prefer from far the 44,5 mm (like the Martin and many other good brand) that give a much better confort in playing than with the 43 mm we see every where and too much for my taste. Very good review thanks a lot👍😉
