    I have canned small sweet pears whole, but cannot find the recipe. You can literally open up the jar, pull out a pear and it tastes like it was just picked from the tree. Love slices with peels on!

    Love this germination alternative. I live in zone 5, and I would love to try this! I am wondering if you moisten the soil prior to placing the jugs outside, or do you just leave the soil dry after planting the seeds in order to place it outside? After watching your video, I read online that the container should also have drain holes poked at the bottom of it, also that additional holes poked around on top of the container to allow for better air circulation. Is the opening on top where the cap is left off the container sufficient enough, and are drain holes poked on the bottom of the container also needed?

      I poked holes in the bottom in this video. They are absolutely necessary for water drainage. The hole on top is sufficient for air flow and to allow water in. I will wet the soil before filling the jugs if our forecast isn't showing a lot of precipitation in the future. If it is, I don't bother.
