You shouldn’t feel like you need to explain why you purchase convenience foods. You do more than 99% of us to feed your family the healthiest foods possible. Give yourself some grace, unapologetically.
I agree 100% plus dill chips and Ortega taco sauce are delicious, also my favorite!
I totally agree. We are all doing the best we can. You rock Jessica and you should be very proud of the great job you do. 🇨🇦🌷
I didn’t think Jessica sounded apologetic. She was just telling us what she buys and why which is pretty much what a grocery haul is about
💯 agree
I would have to disagree with your statistics of 99% of the rest of the world.
Girl, you don't have to explain why you choose what you choose. If anyone judges your choices it's their problem, not yours. You are very conscientious ❤
Maybe she is sharing for educational reasons to help people.
Jessica you are amazing! To feed a family of 10 on your budget is an incredible feat. Wonderful video as always.
I'm imagining that budget doesn't include their homegrown meats, and other foods? So adding all those things into their monthly budget would make it considerably higher.
This is so great Jessica...I KNOW you'd prefer your family not have the "junkie" food items but you've found a way to be OK with it and what a wonderful balance you have for your family.... in my opinion.. thank you for sharing :)
You don't have to explain why you buy something. If it works for you and your family, that's all that counts!!! Your basement pantry is AWESOME!!!!!! Love how you have everything organized!!!!! Its the perfect place to go shopping for your meals!!!!
Thank you for sharing. Seeing you buy chips, bread and fruit gummies made you feel a little more "real" and "relatable". We often just see the perfect curated moments on social media so it's nice to see that you are normal ❤
We all need a break from the kitchen at times ☺️❤️
There is nothing wrong with buying things for the children as a treat. I would do this for my children when they where younger & we where always on a tight budget. So I always tried to make sure we had treats for special occasions as we couldn’t really eat out because myself & a few of the kids had allergies.
I love that while you are mindful of your kids health, you also allow them to have treats. Everything in moderation, which is what you are doing. Love it.
I had all my kids and grands for Christmas. Food for a week for 22 people was crazy expensive. I admire your ability to feed a crowd 3 times a day. Connivence items are simply a sanity saver.
I think, too, we try to have more snacks and variety around when everyone is with us. But when we get to be "in charge" of all the things, we can better spend. So it is more expensive to have our family as company.
One thing that I figured out later than I wished was to use very small condiment Bowles on each plate for maple syrup. It always uses less than pouring it directly on the food. We now use them for ketchup and BBQ sauce for dipping with the same result. My daughter got some plastic condiment cups from Amazon that slip onto the side of the plate that her children will use any chance they get without realizing it's great portion control.
That is a great idea! I think I will purchase some. A few of my kids will squeeze half the bottle onto their plate and could definitely use the control.
That's a great product, when mine were little I would use the paper cups (tiny little things McDonalds give out so that you can fill them with Ketchup , BBQ sauce etc - not sure if you have in America) I would * acquire them 😂 and use for sauces. They loved the novelty of them and not realise I was controlling the amount.
I'm always shocked at how American pour so much maple syrup on pancakes, not in judgment, just that it incredibly expensive in the Uk.
I use small ramekin pots for condiments like you said it uses less😊
This is so true. I have the same cups for my grandsons and it def works because they will go over board if they just put it o. The plate.
Also for dressing on a salad, if you dip your tines in the dressing, then fork your food, it uses less but tastes good!
I really enjoy your videos. You are such a good mom and are so sensible about giving your children "unhealthy treats" every now and then. The vast majority of what y'all eat is very healthy & nutritious and it doesn't hurt them to get something fun now and then. Keep up the good work, mama!
The Berry Fruitful is my favorite! Takes me back to my childhood. We only ever had oatmeal, eggs, shredded wheat or raisin bran. I would add homemade strawberry jam when I wanted the sweetness. When we visited family in Georgia they had fruity pebbles and I was in shock that it was considered breakfast. It was definitely a culture shock and a sugar rush😂
Good morning Jessica. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I love seeing that organized pantry in the basement! It must be a wonderful improvement to keeping your home running smoothly and efficiently. You always amaze me!
Thank you! You too!
Your storage is so beautifully organized. I love it!😊
You do very well on your grocery budget. To feed a family of 10 with today's prices that sounds great!
I am having to watch this video in bits and pieces as I’m busy today!!! We found fresh turkeys at walmart after Thanksgiving for .50 a lb! So we bought 4 19-20lb turkeys and now I’m canning it today. I also have 2 roaster fulls of turkey carcasses for broth going! We have our own chickens, but couldn’t pass up on the price! They also had fresh turkey breast for .36 cents a lb. Got four of those also and froze for sunday dinners.
Glad to see you are teaching the children how to eat healthy but at the same time keeping them from becoming food fanatics during social events when they only have food options like the pickle flavored potato chips and the taco sauce.
I appreciate how you strive to feed your family the healthiest foods but are OK with occasionally buying prepared things. You are a very busy mom and I'm sure a few time savers help you tremendously when you are running kids around to different activities. Love watching how close your family is.
Before you explained why you were talking loudly, I thought you were just very enthusiastic about explaining your grocery haul lol.
great video as always!
I love how you break everything down. I’m not concerned whether it’s healthy or not for my family as I know the good food that we do have on hand, and that we preserve is by far better quality than a few convenience items that we buy occasionally. I also love that you share what things that you use for gluten-free or nondairy families. Often it’s hard to find a good resource out there and you have explained so well these items. Having a CZcams channel like you do and I have myself, we tend to get criticized over certain things we provide for our family. You are a fantastic CZcamsr, and I always send people your way! On another note, I did use your four jars discount code today as the black Friday prices allow you to also use your shopper code. Thank you so much! Have a blessed Christmas and as always laugh as much as you breathe.
I love all your videos, but this one makes me feel so much better that you also shop at stores I do. I try my best to make as much as I can from scratch. Youre a huge inspiration. But, I still shop at aldi often. Thanks for sharing!
Perhaps Aldi saw your channel and decided to offer almond ice cream all year long 😀
You might want to look into Wine Cap Mushrooms…they don’t need any special wood, they will literally grow in wood chips…they are fairly easy to grow…Becky at Acre Homestead grew them a few years ago in the wood chip walkway in between her garden beds
Greetings from Southern Utah. Thanks for sharing your haul, Jessica. Amazing!! Refreshing to see you give a little when it comes to treats for your family. Your pantry looks so organized. Gods blessings 🙏
Must be so exciting having all that new pantry space!
I like the Aldi frozen vegetables to make beef vegetable soup to can. Will be making a huge pot to can soon. I got 7 quarts of Turkey broth when I made broth from our Thanksgiving Turkey carcass. I bought 4 extra turkeys to can up soon. My husband and I like making Turkey rice soup during the cold winter days with our canned Turkey and broth.
What a nice haul for the kids. We always buy extra for the kids.
Thanks, Jessica! I enjoyed hanging out with you this morning.
Thanks for the video! Always a joy to watch. Have a great week!
It’s soooo nice to have quick and easy things in the pantry, or freezer, to grab to eat when I’m busy.
I love this video. You are great at knowing what to stress over and what to let slide. Like you said some things are gonna hurt to have once in a while. You are a great mom who really cares about what her family eats. Your pantry is stocked and will be ready for the challenge.
Love your sweet family Jessica.
Love this! My grandpa gave me an appreciation for braunschweiger….would eat it on white bread toast, grainy homemade mustard and a little red onion…don’t hear kiddos eating it much these days! Thanks for sharing your haul…helps me figure what to do…and love watching your videos! Blessings to you!
Love grocery shopping. Finding a place for everything is the problem. We grew pink oyster mushrooms. They grow really fast and are fun to watch. Thanks for the video!!
I love the mushroom dress!
So fun to see your organization skills carried into your grocery shopping. I always find a nugget I can use for my family of 2. Planning ahead is the key, right? Thanks Jessica. As we enter into the holiday season, enjoy your beautiful family. Have a great week.
Appreciate your wisdom when shopping on a budget for your large family, while also thoughtfully accommodating individual tastes. Isn't it wonderful that we have the option of convenience foods when we need them?
Good morning! Always a pleasure to hear and watch your videos 🙂 I live in Canada but some of my family members live in Green Springs, OH which might not be too far from you. They go down to the field by the ball diamonds and find mushrooms to forage in the spring. Not sure if you and Adam would forage those but my neices and nephew love it
I'd love to see a video about how you prepare for, celebrate, and what you eat for holidays! I'm a big fan, though I often feel an inadequate homeschooling homemaking mom when I watch you!
One of my favorite episodes so far! If only b/c now I won’t get so upset when we resort to convenience foods as well. Sometimes it takes someone else doing what you’re trying to do to show you it’s ok to give a little. Thanks for this helpful video!
I really loved to get an insight on this! Thank you
Your pantry/food storage set up is a thing of beauty!! ❤
Super happy to see your video pop up!!!! Happy Sunday Funday to you and yours.
Always your biggest cheerleader!
Your Michigan Fan and Friend Araminta ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
Thanks for sharing your grocery haul! I feel like I learned some things and found some products I want to try out!
We love shopping at Aldi, and I also get the ketchup there.
We live in a town, and I usually make my list based on what is for sale. So our trips are more often, but not that big. But I do stock up a bit when things are on a good deal.
And i feel you do not justify any of your purchases. If anyone complains they probably are not regular viewers of your channel and have no clue.
Keep doing you. It works for your family, it clearly shows.
I really enjoyed seeing this, you do amazing job of feeding your family, not many could feed a family of four on what you feed a family of ten.
Love seeing what you buy. It gives me an idea of what to purchase for convenience and for what we don't grow
Great haul. Very interesting!
Wonderful video, love your storage space, constantly trying to get mine more organized!
Mmmhh. Braunschweiger.
Here in Germany I like it ..
Spread on "Schwarzbrot" or "Pumpernickel" with mustard and pickeled (?) cucumbers. ❤❤❤
What a great video. You have inspired me to be better organized in my pantry. Have a beautiful holiday.
I take my bags of frozen veggies and dump them into a gallon size bag and freeze it like that. scoop what you need.
Thanks for this educational video with the good explanations regarding your thought processes & planning around what you purchase and why. It is a helpful way to learn. It must feel very good to have food stocked for taking care of all your family! ❤
Being on a budget for 10 is amazing what you purchased. Thank you for sharing.
I freeze dry fresh mushrooms. They are fantastic!
The plastic bags for the frozen food can be washed and used again for other food you want to freeze, for packing a lunch, snacks for road trips.......They won't last forever, but getting 3-4 additional uses is great. No guilt Jessica!
Like your content. Don't feel like you have to justify anything to anyone. We all do what we can and what we choose with our own family. Don't apologize or over explain yourself.
What a wonderful and delightful video. Thank you so much.❤
It’s so encouraging to see that our shopping trips look very similar! Although I go a lot more often ☺️
It as great to watch your shopping. I appreciate how you share that your kids do get some treats occasionally because it is all about balance. We also love that ketchup and can buy it by the case when it's available. For how much ketchup we use with 10 kids, I can't get enough of the price at Aldi. Also, I thought my kids were the only ones that love sardines, so it was refreshing to hear you share that. Have a great Sunday. ❤❤❤
You really take such good care of your family!😊😊😊
Thank you for the kindness and encouragement ❤️
A very nice grocery haul with treats for Mom is always a plus 🎉 As always much Love and Happy Sunday from Okc ❤
We got those coconut crisps this week and they’re pretty good! Thanks for sharing. I think I imagined you making 100% of your bread, yogurt etc. all the time even though I know that would be just impossible. I’m always trying to strike a balance between price, heath, and time.
Thanks for sharing Jessica
Blessings ❤
You are such a good lady of the house, balancing expenses and preferences:))
I buy bulk dried shiitake mushroom from my local Asian market. I will put some mushrooms into a canning jar with water and keep in the fridge so I have mushrooms whenever I want. I have grown shitaki and oyster mushrooms here on the homestead. It’s a great project that the kids will love. I found that I didn’t grow enough mushrooms to have a consistent supply as much as I use them. Give it a go though!
Good afternoon my dear friend, this was a great video, always enjoy seeing what others buy! No need to explain why you bought certain food items, everyone needs convenience!! Would love to see these kinds of videos regularly. Enjoy your Sunday, see you next week.
Great video Jessica!
I really enjoyed this video!
I loved this video! Grocery
Hauls are my faves
I loved your video! Thank you! God bless!
Thanks for sharing. I enjoy watching all of your videos, especially since we are in a similar growing zone. I'm glad that this is so realistic. Sometimes, I feel guilty when j buy prepared foods for my kids. I feel like I should be making everything from scratch. I have to remember that it's okay to have a break, especially when there are a lot of competing demands. Thanks for all the tips and tricks in your videos!
Would love to watch a maple sap tapping video! Thank you, Jessica.
Thank you so much for sharing. My youngest daughter has a new dairy allergy and an immune deficiency that affects her GI. I cannot wait for her to try new dairy free options! God bless you!
I always enjoy your videos. Have a blessed day.❤
The pantry looks really good..
I have learned that i need to go to Aldi. Thanks
Enjoyed your video, as always. Wishing you & your beautiful family a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year! 💙
Common sense grocery shopping. How refreshing. Thank you
Its really inspiring that yiu are dedicated to organics with a large family. I teally admire how its a priority for your family!
You can grow mushrooms in your basement storage. That cold room is perfect.
I was thinking the same thing with the palm fruit stuff… I have never even heard of it so I doubt it’s hurting the environment… and who cares what others think… you found something that works for your family with all your dietary restrictions and you are allowed to do that! Same with everything else you buy… your kids are allowed taco sauce or a fruit snack once in a while lol you are a great mother and wife looking out for your family’s best interests and health and part of that is fun and sanity!! God bless!
Love this video, it’s great!
Thank you again for sharing. I always find it so interesting to see how much a family of 10 consumes.
Salmon eggs are delicious too.
Cut up onion and soften, spread Salmon on top and pour beaten eggs. Gently stir only when necessary to keep Salmon in chunks. Yum.
Great video!! Thank you for sharing!
You've got to try zucchini salsa. It's a super thick and chunky salsa that tastes EXACTLY like that salsa you bought. Our family memebers request it for Christmas!
Coconut Bliss ice cream is sooo yummy!
Love watching your videos. You inspire me too do the best i can for my family with budget i have to make more things homemade. It does take time to get everyone on board cause not everything tastes the same as there favorite foods
As a kid, we always had liver sausage sandwiches with grape jelly. YUMMY!!!
It’s really eye opening seeing how you grow so much food on farm, but still need to purchase store bought products. Coming from a suburban house where I have raised beds but can’t really grow that much, it’s hard to understand exactly how much work I would have to put it in to grow enough to feed my family for a year, and what I would still need to budget to spend in store. It’s a really interesting conversation. Thank you for sharing !
Oh my inflation has increased our food budget as well and we're shopping mostly at Aldi's, Walmart and Meijer. No Azure Standard drop off sites here in Northern Michigan but hoping one comes to Traverse City soon. Great haul Jessica and I always enjoy seeing your videos pop up in my feed.
Not sure where you live in northern Michigan but there is a drop site in West Branch now.
love the video❤ hope you all had a great thanksgiving🎉🙏🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thank you this helped a lot I’m going to Aldi an sams an Walmart I will know what to buy now
Wow sister, you did great. Thanks for sharing. God's blessings over you and your beautiful family. Merry Christmas
Yes…dill pickle chips. When I purchase chips…not often..those are my favorite! 😍
We recently freeze dried literal pickle chips and it was great! A good replacement for the lays, which admittedly we love too 🫠
Great to see some other options for stocking up. I’m always looking for value and quality. I’m a drop coordinator for Azure so I really enjoy your Azure hauls. No Aldi or Sam’s Club near me however I have Costco available 45 miles away.
Thank you so much for sharing! Love it!
Love and blessings from Johanne, Norway 🇳🇴
You are just fabulous. Thank you - this was so interesting. Bless.
Kudos for Adam's choice of espresso. I'm in New York City and it's a mainstay in any neighborhood.
