Hi Jessica and happy Sunday! Feeling very blessed to be watching this video while resting on the sofa feeling my miracle rainbow baby kick. I am currently 7 months pregnant with our first after three early losses and I remember watching your miscarriage video and crying alongside you. You have been a source of comfort and inspiration throughout my journey❤️ sending love from Scotland.
🙏🙌🏻Wonderful!
🙏🙏🙏💕
Oh my goodness so happy for you parent hoods makes you want to pull your hair out st times.lol but it's so rewarding and humbling I wouldn't change anything. I wish u both the best enjoy
💙💜💙
Congratulations! Many blessings on you and your family!
Hi Jessica 👋, I am finally all caught up. I have thoroughly enjoyed all your videos.
I'm not a homesteader, gardener, or preserve food. I'm just a 74 yo that enjoys watching channels like yours.
I'm surprised how many younger adults want to go back to the way it was. This is telling me loud and clear that the days of now are not working.
All the luck in your future homesteading.
💛 from 🇨🇦.
Thank you for the reminder on Gracie's shirt... 'Don't pick back what you've allready given to God'.
I’m in Western PA and brassica plants are also a problem for us. Last year I used the row covers and successfully had a wonderful harvest . I’ll be doing that again this year. Your videos are so helpful and calming to watch. Praying for you and a blessed harvest this coming season 🙏
I'm in 6b, I'm going to grow a few now but mostly grow them in the fall
The little spidermen must be great helpers!!! Love to see the kids! Thanks Jessica!
Jessica you are the queen of the pantry challenge. Love your videos.
Wow, thank you!
Jessica what a beautiful family you have may god bless you in all you do, your children are a credit to you and your husband.
Thank you so much!
Hi Jessica, we love in NE OH and have the same issues with planting cold crops in the spring. The last couple years we have grown them in the fall and it's been a game changer! Very few insects, if any, and no bolting. We sew seed around 4th of July and then plant in ground in August, when space becomes available from digging potatoes, pulling onions etc. Maybe test a small batch and see if it works for you. 😊
Good morning my dear friend, I have loved watching the pantry challenge again this year!! How creative and clever you get as time goes on! Have a blessed week and looking forward to next weeks video!
We're in the same climate and love our brassicas! The insect netting you mentioned is KEY. We get no bug damage with the brassicas covered 24/7 from the moment they are in the ground. Other than that, heat tolerant varieties are super important. Sun King Broccoli, All-Seasons Cabbage, and Flame-Star Broccoli all do well in our heat. If you already have the structure to support the insect netting, you can also just toss a shade cloth over them on extra hot days as well. But those varieties/insect netting are really the key!
Yep, I agree. Don't leave them uncovered for a minute. Also mine turn out better in the fall.
Hi Jessica!!!! Happy Home Church Day ❤❤ I am very under the weather so a prayer would be requested for me.
Love your videos. Your Michigan Fan and Friend Araminta 😊
Thanks for starting my week off with ideas for planting and for reminding me of fritters. When I was on the farm, fritters were a staple when the garden overproduced one item. We often had zucchini fritters that replaced hush puppies or fries. Or we would sweetened them for a fried dessert. Green tomato fritters also were common as were cooked bean fritters. I am going to make the fruit rolls this week, too. Memories of those days are sweet - busy life on the farm. I have ordered my seeds and patiently waiting - I’m in zone 9 so a much different season than yours. Your homestead looks beautiful blanketed in snow. Have a wonderful week, Jessica.
You mentioned that you have trouble with your broccoli bolting. From experience, my broccoli bolted when it was too hot/dry. I try to place them in a shader/cooler spot in my garden. I even mulch around the bottom of each plant to keep them cooler/and moist. Hope this helps.
Hi Jessica. I live in NE Ohio and also have problems with cabbage moths. I have found that Captain Jacks Dead Bug spray works wonders. It is for organic gardening. As soon as I see the moths I spray my cabbage and broccoli. It really works! I now can grow lots of great cabbage and broccoli.
Thank you

Hey Jessica. I watched your video this morning but got called away before I had a chance to comment. I want to know how it is possible that I learn something new from you each week?! You give such good ideas and recipes week after week. You are such a good role model in raising smart, happy and healthy kids. Enjoy your popcorn tonight!
Good morning, Jessica! Spending the morning with one of my favorite families. Have a wonderful week.❤
Good morning! So grateful that you share your meal ideas from your pantry goods. Very helpful thank you! Blessings on the Three Rivers Family Homestead! 🌻🐛Carolyn in Ohio 🌿(NW)
If your broccoli experiment doesn’t work well, try doing fall broccoli because the cabbage moths are not around as fierce then plus the weather starts cooling off. They can even go through light frosts & taste better for it. I am a bedding plant grower for a central Minnesota(Moose Lake)Farmers Market.
LOVE your wisdom and weekly videos on family, food, and farm! You ALWAYS have such good ideas on 1 product, different ways to cook and preserve. You are SUCH A GIFT to your sweet family and to us for taking us along. THANK YOU for all your GREAT IDEAS!!!! Prayers always for you and your family's good health and protection. ❤
Happy Sunday Everyone!! Jessica your strength amazes me as i sit here on bedrest planning the list of things i want to do when i can move around better. I have completely adopted your ideas about a lot of things in my kitchen as far as healthy eating and the empty jar rule. Thank you so much for inspiring so many woman. Thank you for helping me get my life together. And do be surprised if lil Ms. Hannah grows up to be a chef she just smiles and loves everything she's being offered 😂 Have a Blessed Week Everyone 🙏🏾 Much Love From Okc ❤
I find inspired Sunday rest and a good start to my day when I tap into your early morning videos. I truly wish that as a young woman, we (collectively) would have had a sharing vehicle like this medium. It would have set me onto a path of self sustaining homesteading much, much sooner. But @ 70+ years I am still learning, and being inspired by your love of family and God.
I agree, but I had a different lifestyle when I was younger and probably wouldn't have watched. Now I'm 60 and wish I could turn back time and live this way ❤
Hi, from your neighbor to the north - Michigan! Love your videos and recipes - thank you! I have a little girl enjoying MFW Learning God's Story right now too! :)
Co-planting cabbage with marigolds deters cabbage root fly
Thank you for the tip!
Wow, I've never seen a jar siphon out like that! That was actually kind of cool that you caught that on camera. I wouldn't have trusted the seal either.
Hi Jessica.
I made your jelly rolls and brownies and they were delicious. We definitely enjoyed them and both recipes made their way into my cookbook - that's my lovely pink notebook that I write all my tried and tested recipes in. It is handy to have them all in one place.
Jessica, thank you for the tips on starting your seeds. I’m in a similar zone but still not sure what I’ll be growing this year! I used your code and purchased some For Jars canning lids and the opener. Thank you! Have a Blessed week!
I love this series Jessica. I Ty for all your time and effort you put in to these videos. I love your family. You're the best mom. Have a great week!
Hi Jessica to your french toast breakfast casserole add some pumpkin puree . Great way to use up the pumpkin and a nice change
Sounds great!
Jessica I just love your videos! I’m so thankful for your wisdom and tips!
Northwest Ohio is such a lovely part of the state. I was lucky enough to live in Toledo for a few years in my 20’s. I absolutely adored hiking around Oak Openings metropark. I live very far away from there now , but I still remember it fondly.
I'm in zone 10a I'm still harvesting my broccoli we had 1 frost right after rain that killed the cali beans and pineapples, but the carrots peas and broccoli are still doing great. I already have my seeds planted ready for spring
Good morning! Good luck with your seeds! Will miss gardening this year. The gentleman who is spreading our horse manure hasn't been here yet. So I will let garden rest this year.
I'm not planting a garden either this year, but I am way more excited than i expected to be about doing other stuff instead.
@juliamarple3785 oh, me too! Instead of weeding and watering, which I've done for years. Will kick back and enjoy. Still have plenty of veggies stocked up. You enjoy your summer also!!!
I’m new to your channel came from LMR
love all that you do as a wife, mother and homesteader
I especially like that you eat your eggs with catchup,😀 I do too❤️
Sleepless in my little covid misery bubble, so I'm watching you to bring a smile to my face. Thank you ❤
Have a blessed week. I'm very grateful.
I've had COVID over the Christmas and New Year Holidays... I am honestly just now getting over the symptoms. It hit me really hard... Also my parents and my daughter and family had it pretty bad too. So I will be praying for you. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Yep I’ve had Covid for 3 solid weeks and still showing symptoms 😢. I’m so over it but there’s no end in sight
@@merediths9667 have you been to the hospital? I'm 2 weeks in and just got diagnosed with pneumonia as well. I hope you feel some relief soon. It is so crippling when you get it bad.
@@loriannkruithof2043 thanks unfortunately people seem to get smashed by it or relatively no issues with it. My son thankfully is in the latter category. This is the third time I've got it and it has taken me ages after each one to get back to normal. Long covid just sucks.
covid here too in coastal nc . we had pneumonia last month. shots for both didnt work obviously
I plant dill along with our broccoli and cabbage to keep down the cabbage moths. It helps!
Great tip!
💜 Time sure goes by quickly. I so enjoy your uploads.
Hi Jessica and family. I sure have enjoyed this pantry challenge. You are so creative in your cooking. You are to be admired as a Godly woman and you are such a good wife and mother. Thank you for sharing with us. Looking forward to continue watching your videos. You are loved out here. ❤ I may not interact much, but I am here. LOVE LOVE APPLE FRITTERS!!
Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing and have a blessed week!
Love and blessings from Johanne, Norway 🇳🇴
Thanks for all the great ideas! I usually have some kind of muffin always made for my kids to have along side meals or for snacks but these are great ideas! I was getting bored of always making muffins, time to try something different!
We are not a dairy-free gluten-free family however, I have tried some of your recipes and enjoy learning how to cook without these items in case it's a necessity. So thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome!
APPLE FRITTERS 🍎!!!
❤❤❤
I worked for a bakery for years when my boys were little.
We made apple fritters bigger than your head!
They were always the first to go and even had people on a waiting list every Saturday and Sunday morning for as little as 2!!
Yummy 😊
So, my kiddos dont get to watch much tv. When they do its educational things, or bluey 🤣 but my food obsessed 18m old never watches tv really. Just not interested.. well today while cleaning the livingroom i put this video up on my TV and he sat and watched your cooking so intently 🤣 he says it all looks AMAZING ❤
Yet another fabulous video, I feel as though I’m sitting at your table chatting away to you and the ‘wee ones’, little Miss Hannah at the computer :), Elizabeth is getting so grown up, I love her drop earrings, go girl!!!
Another great video. Hannah is so cute. She loves all kinds of food.
I love how you make the most of your time when you are cooking up your chicken/roosters legs. I try to to do the same. I was actually cooking up chicken and rice when I started watching this video.
My daughter has a 5-month old, who broke out in a fever of 101 degrees (which isn't abnormal) but she also got a full body rash the night she got her 4 month vaccination. Her skin hasn't been the same since, so they have an appt with an pediatric allergist at the end of the month. In the meantime, my daughter has been doing research, and thought she would try going nondairy, since she's nursing. For the Superbowl, I made a fruit dip with solid coconut cream, powdered sugar and about 1 C of cool whip. She said it was delicious, so I sent the rest home with her to snack on. I also found a ranch dressing that is nondairy, plant based, so I got that for her to dip veggies in.
Have you had any trouble after your children got their vaccinations? It's so sad to see baby Lily suffer, and not be able to help her. Her other two children have not had any issues with their vaccinations, and she knows they're important to get, but she's hoping to find answers. My daughter even tried giving her breast milk baths, where she soaks washclothes in the breast milk, to drape over the rash. She told me Lily LOVES that, because she grabs the washcloth and sucks the milk out! LOL. I seem to remember seeing in the old days that they would put a cloth in milk, for a sick baby to suck on. It made me laugh at lily's persistence in trying to suck the milk from the cloth.
If anyone has advice regarding infant rashes, please reply to my comment.
MMMMM... those apple fritters looked so good. I am going to try to make those with all my dehydrated apples. Thank you!
Always enjoy your videos!
Oh Jessica the apple fritters looked amazing ❤❤
Thank you once again Jessica. Miss Hannah is getting so big. You’re so inventive in the kitchen. Going to try the fritters.
Always a pleasure to see your weekly menu!❤
I'm recovering from emergency appendectomy on Valentine's Day, especially enjoyed this today. Blessings.
I hope you’re having a smooth recovery. It terrifies me when I hear “emergency surgery” since I know that’s always too close to disaster (if not tragedy). Glad you got to surgery in time and get well soon! 😊
I hope you have a speedy recovery 🙏🏻
I was at a play, only five minutes from hospital and was taken by ambulance. I'm still struggling a bit but could have been tragic had I waited. Thank you, blessings! @@notthecheshirekat2596
Yum! I’m loving the sourdough recipes! Thx for sharing.
Love your recipe ideas!
Thank you for sharing !! The food looks delicious!!! ❤❤❤❤
You are so creative toward the end of the challenge. I look forward every year to see what you make and get some ideas for my own family. As always may the peace of God be with you and your beautiful family
Thanks for another great video!
Jessica, I was in Walmart and noticed they have plant based, dairy free butter and thought about your family.
I know it sounds strange, but when you can't have dairy it could make a difference in your meal planning, and availability for the children
Loved all the food you made. Great video as well.
We are in Nova Scotia and are a zone 6b as well, this surprised me. Enjoyed your video as usual.
Your meals look amazing! Your family is SO blessed to have you!!🙌🏻❤️
Happy Sunday, Jessica and family ❤❤ I am so enjoying seeing all of your creations for meals!
Hi Jessica! Enjoying your videos and beautiful family!
Great meals. Wonderful to see that everyone is helping with the early seed planting. Thank you for sharing
Jessica I saw a clip where someone use to also have a pest problem for brassica’s and they placed about a 2 foot stick in the middle of those plantings and put moth balls in a baby sock and pinned the sock with one of those red cups over the top pinned like an umbrella and it kept nearly all the moths away. The moth balls shrink over time so they said you have to replace them periodically. But there was about 3 or four moth balls per stick and moth ball sock. If you plant a full bed it appeared they had about 3 or so evenly spaced between several plants.
Thank you!
Lovely, learning video. Thank you
I always look forward to Sunday. Apple fritters looked yummy. I can't wait for garden season. Have a great day.❤
Sweet interactions between your children ❤️
Grew lots of brassica last year, you just need to cover and it really helps against the pests that like to feed on those plants ! We are in Minnesota and they grow well for my zone !
I was also going to suggest growing your cold weather crops later in the fall as a couple of other commenters have suggested. And on another note, I have seen it suggested to add 1/4 teaspoon of cream of tartar to 2 cups of whipping cream to help it hold its structure. Thanks for all of your inspiration.
Elizabeth, your hair is so cute in a bun! ❤
Thank you for sharing, I look forward to seeing your videos
Getting ready for seed starting and had to get lettuce started due to spring fever. I have good luck with starting broccoli in my zone and successfully planted in heavy pots on my patio last year. It was an experiment that worked. I spent time canning dry beans and thanks to your advice I’ll be freezing lemon juice for summertime lemonade. Really enjoyed the past 2 months following along.
Love your creativity that you have with cooking! Looks so yummy! Hannah is getting so big! Your family is very precious!😊❤
Good morning!! I hope you have a wonderful day.
Take care and be blessed sweet lady.😊
Lovely family, amazing how fast the children are growing ❤️
Some things do not need light to germinate, but if you have a mix, I guess it won’t hurt. Once the germinate, you will have to have those lights a lot lower like within 2 inches and then gradually raise them as they grow.
Yes, I know. We just keep them up there in the meantime to make watering easier. We actually don't turn on the lights until they germinate. The windows provide enough light.
Freeze dried applesauce is great also.
I have had really good luck using floating row covers to combat cabbage moths. I hope the same for you!
Thanks Jessica, we've been successful on the challenge... blessings ❤
God bless you and your family❤
LOVE your channel! I was looking for your SpaghettiOs recipe.. looks really good.
Good morning. I enjoy your videos. I am starting peppers too.
Good Sunday morning Jessica 🥰. I look forward all week to this ,, with your seeds starting and scratch cooking, your kitchen looks like mine. SO glad to see it too as some do clean ups midway through , I’d rather tidy all at once while somethings cooking that doesn’t need my full on attention. ( I’ve seen friends throw apples away if they’ve got just a little soft 😯 I view it as a waste if it’s just a little mushy. Have a great week. Hannah sure is growing ♥️ and absolutely beautiful 😊
Thank you for video I’m Gona try grow lights .❤
I also am in 6b! Thank you for talking about getting started on your seeds! I am definitely going to do this this weekend! I am hoping you will take us on your journey through gardening! This is only my second year, and I'm so excited!
Just ate some leftover grits - fried in butter like a pancake with homemade applesauce on top. So good! Your video was so good!
I'm in southern Ohio...peppers do fantastic for us too
Good morning! I made your sour dough cinnamon rolls and they were great! Thank you ❤
Lovely❤
Watching this is a wonderful way to end the Sunday, for me. 💖💖
It's so much fun to have a waffle maker.
I love the taste of apple fritters, as well as other kinds.
Have a blessed week Jessica!
I love watching your videos. They always inspire me. Although I'm not ready to try sourdough baking yet, I'm going to try to make a no knead bread for the first time. It's one of my challenge goals and this is the last nine days of the challenge.
Brassicas usually grow better in cooler weather, the fall/early winter ❤
The mesh row covers are brassica savers! There are also some mesh bags that one can place over things planted in pots. Both are relatively inexpensive and work great!
Thanks for sharing, love watching your videos
Thanks for watching!
Good morning Jessica 🙏😊
I love your videos. You always have such great ideas . This is my second year for participating in the pantry challenge and it is such a good idea.
Thank you
Have a blessed week 🙏
I haven't made them yet, but I am going to try muffins with some of my unset jelly like you did last week, I think. I would have never thought of that. Thanks.
I've been watching your videos....your food always looks delicious....and you have such a beautiful calming voice....❤
