    @VetteSource, I have the following fuel system-related issue/question and hope you or someone else may have an answer: From one day to the next, I have a problem fueling up. At our Costco, I could not add more than 0.1 Gallon, and the filler would shut off. Now, I have the same issue at any gas station. I researched (Google, CZcams, Reddit, Corvette forums, etc.) and only found 2 issues that seemed potentially 'my issue'; 1. I replaced the messed up 'fuel neck', and 2. the EPA Vapor Canister Vent Valve, but no change at all. One mechanic suggested that I lower the gas tank and check/replace the fuel entry flap, but I have not seen nor read anything about this even existing, and I don't think I have the means/ability to go about this myself, hence my question here. Thanks a lot in advance for any insights.

    • @VetteSource
      @VetteSource Před 13 dny

      That's a common problem from the GM vehicles of that era and very frustrating. I've experienced the same problem on my Suburban. What you need to do is disconnect the fuel vapor vent tube from the vapor charcoal canister and blow it out with compressed air. It should clear the line and allow the fuel vapors to escape from the tank as you fill it with fuel. Let me know how it turns out👍

    I have a 1994 convertible with 61,000 miles. My climate controls act up, won’t respond etc. I tore it down a few years ago and sprayed electronic spray on the terminals as suggested by a video, and it did start working normal. Now it’s acting up again. My CD player has never worked and recently I only get sound out of my right side speakers. I don’t see an adjustment for right to left just front to rear. It’s little things like this that make me want to sell the car sometimes. I’m also trying to diagnose a surging idle when cold, improves when it warms up but barely surges. I can’t find a shop where anybody knows more than me to get it diagnosed. No trouble codes pop up. I’m in the Atlanta area if anybody knows a Corvette expert. I’ve owned the car since 1999. The previous owner sold it when the warranty ran out. Thanks

      Hey Tracy, sounds like you are experiencing some of the normal features inherent in owing a 25 year old car. With the Corvettes, it can become even more frustrating since they were pretty technology heavy for the time, and the electronics aren't the easiest to troubleshoot. I would recommend purchasing a factory service manual set off ebay. There is a ton of information inside, and will lead to you to a proper diagnosis most of the time.

      All Corvettes C4 and up are a unibody construction and not the older traditional body bolted onto frame. What you see in the video is the unibody structure minus the majority of the body panels, which are either bolted or glued onto this structure. The front and rear suspensions are also bolted to this piece and are not a part of it. To see more detail of how it all goes together and comes apart, check out my playlist containing several disassembly videos - czcams.com/play/PLAM-V1w3acpg_B2sVlXEL7UPOGVwiKmtL.html&si=gvx1w45sTbS-TrwR

    That frame looks pretty clean I would put another 8.1 into it from a truck with a bad frame to at least keep it out of the crusher and anyways I am going to be putting a 8.1 from a suburban 2500 that is rusted out in every way bad frame and body but a low mileage engine into my Silverado 4.3 with a high mileage engine but rust free

      Yep, I have another 2001 8.1L that will ve placed into this truck once we begin the restoration process. That sounds like a cool build you have going on with yours as well👍.

      @@VetteSource the 4l8X trucks use a detuned 8.1 supposedly because the 8.1 will eat the 4l8 series of transmissions I am not buying that since they put those behind the duramax engines so ill most likely remove the torque limiter people have reported supposedly getting 14-15mpg with a 8.1 in a half ton if this holds true then its a good alternative to the LS engine my frame can legally tow 9,000 if it has the 4.8 either way I dont think any of the 1500 ls engines will hold up well towing that especially if your up in the mountains like I am I have a zf6 Duramax but it is temporarily retired due to frame rot but it has such low millage only 97,000 but it towed great but I want to frame swap it because the body is in great shape and well low mileage drive train but either way a 8.1 in a half ton is going to be fun ill own a 496 ss essentially and no one will suspect a thing either way exciting projects I just wish I could find a extended cab 8ft bed frame

      Yep, those 8.1 extended cab/long beds aren't the easiest configuration to find out in the wild. Nice talking with you, and let us know how it's coming👍.

      The 4th generation F-Bodies have such a deep firewall, I'm not sure if this bad boy would fit in there, but that would be an interesting build for sure.

    I have a 2001, 2500 HD 8.1 250,000 miles. Never had any problem except motor mounts. I pull a 3400 lb tri axle trailer with 19,000 excavator. Never overheated. Loves gas stations... great truck.

      Yep, testimonials for these workhorses can be found all over the comments section of 8.1 videos. They get the job done and make the $$ for their owners.
