  • Its time to finish the install of the 8.1L 496 Vortec BBC timing chain gearset and timing cover.
Watch as I install the lower crank gear, install the cam gear and chain, and place the cover as we prepare the engine for installation in the 2004 Yukon XL 2500

Thanks for the 8.1 video! Looking forward to seeing the Yukon XL come to life. Maybe one of these days you'll use it to chase down some Corvette parts😁

I've been building Chevy Engines for 50+ years yet the 8.1 though similar in a lot of ways to the 454 is new to me.

With 182K on my 8.1, while I'm doing a Water Pump and a Balancer, I'm thinking of doing the Timing Chain also. My question is do you have to drop the Oil Pan to get the Timing Cover off or will the Cover just lift up and over the edge of the Pan?

Hey man quick question, would a drivers door off of early c4 like an 85 fit on a 96?

  • @good2know606

Did that engine have any main bearing issues?

Love this video, But I have 1 question why thee hell a single roller? Why not a Cloyes TRUE Double Roller? Would have been a better performance and reliability standpoint tbh.
