- In todays video, we'll be talking about what's left to take care of on the low mileage 1993 Abandoned 40th Anniversay Corvette Project Car now that it is in running condition afer many years of improper storage.
Watch as I point out the specific items that will need repair, and the decision making process that goes into prioritizing which maintenance items to address first.
Thanks for watching👍

If the weather-stripping needs window adjustments we could use a more modern example on how to get that done for sure
Definitely, I think I can get to that pretty soon because I need to perform that task on the 1996 Aqua Metallic LT4 -

_This ruby has so much potential for sure. I mean the car is fully loaded with little gems like ride control, sport seats, and the ZF-6 speed. When I see a neglected latter model fourth-gen it breaks my heart how these cars(which cost a bundle in '93) were just cast aside. If the '92 to '96 models with the LT1(and yes the wonderful Opti-Spark) aren't maintained properly, the repairs can be cumbersome(unless you can turn a good wrench like you can), and a little pricey._
Hey Gene, for sure, this Ruby is a diamond in the rough. I knew as soon as I opened the door and took a peek under the hood that there was more to this car than a horribly worn paint job. I've been having fun taking care of the small issues to bring this car back, and look forward to sharing some more of the work with you guys👍.
I really appreciate you sharing your world of information on these specialty cars and your diligence of breathing life back in Corvettes.
Ray, glad to do it, and happy to hear it's been helpful for my fellow Corvette enthusiasts👍
Thanks for the video Brian!
I’ve been watching this Corvette since you first acquired it. Very interesting car and I’ll be following so please give us more vids whenever you can.🙏🏻
Love ALL your C4 Corvette vids you post and I know I’ve learned lots. 🇺🇸😀👍🏻
Thanks, I'm glad you've been enjoying them. I've been having fun making them👍. I have some weatherstripping pieces on order for this car now, but I will featuring the Competition Yellow LT4 in the next video to make a small repair to the rear hatch weatherstripping For those that haven't seen it, the playlist for this car can be found here -

I have a 96 LT4, manual. I like to see how to do the weatherstripping.
Good deal, the LT4's are great cars👍. I hope to have the weathstripping video done soon.
From what I've read they switched to r134 mid-93 sometime. There's a label on the compressor. Sorta looks like an r12 fitting on your drier, but not sure.
I just came into a cheap 40th anniversary a few weeks ago. Was parked for a dead pump so I'm doing all the same stuff you are! Jealous of your manual though. Got mine running and it surprised the heck out of me when the AC held a vacuum then charged up and worked. Mine has an r12 compressor but had r134 adapters so somebody already converted it. My paint, headlight motors and weatherstripping are all in similar need of attention. Will definitely be following along!
Hey Tim, that's great! Glad to hear these are getting saved from a slow death by like-minded enthusiasts. Good luck with the project👍.
New paint job
Yep, this one definitely won't buff out🤣.
Maybe it just depends on whether or not you can do your own work and which generation Corvette you prefer.
With the temperatures we’ve been seeing lately I think a complete rebuild/upgrade of the A/C is appropriate… especially if your going from r12 to r134.
Hey Rusty, for sure I'll be going through the individual components to see how everything looks.
Super excited to see more of this! You going to put one of those modified optisparks in when you replace it? Can't recall if the antenna works or not but for some reason I think it does?
Yep, that's the one thing I forgot to mention was that the stereo and antenna are currently DOA. I'll make some videos describing the removal and diagnosing process for those as well.
As far as the Optispark, I will look into the aftermarket pieces, but with such low mileage(27K), I may get lucky and get away with only having to replace the cap assembly.
I have a 95 Impala SS with the LT1. It had about 5 optisparks replaced under warranty before they noticed the vacuum vent house was pinched under a valve cover. I replaced the opti at around 160k miles with one from eBay with a red cap and brass terminals. It has 185k on it now. The original alternator recently died but it still has the original starter and fuel pump.
Yep, there's definitely something to be said about the SBC engines. I mean, they only made around 100 million of them😁.
Following this project. Will you be selling it when you're done? If so I'm interested.
It would be fitting for the vette to be driven after years of abandonment. I'm also curious what happens to this vehicle.
I haven't decided what to do after I've got it back in the road, but I'll definitely let you guys know first👍
94 / 95 was the first year for R134a
I been looking around for a lt1 car but I want a auto
Thanks for that information, I thought it was the 94 and up cars, but I couldn't quite remember.
I'll keep my eyes open for an LT1 l/Auto. Is there a particular year/color you're interested in?
@VetteSource same as the one you got 91 and up but im also on the fence for a c3
@@doolallyproductions7234how far are you from VA? I and some family members picked up three non-running auto 40th anniversary's recently. We are just playing around and fixing them up when we have time, probably won't end up keeping all of them if you are interested.
@@TimBass Those are my favorite of the c4s. Are any of those three 40th anniversary convertibles? Something I'm looking for myself down the road. I live up in New England right now though.
@@Pallandoii nope, no convertibles, they are all the normal targa top version.
Gotta consider the targa top though! Tons of storage space and there's a aftermarket accessory to keep the hatch open as a vent for that extra air flow.
I have a 91 c4, if you sell the coilovers I'm interested.
Sure thing, I'll let you know.
Waterpump opti and hoses plugs wires shocks weather stripping tires
Good deal, thanks for the suggestion, buddy👍.
I've heard the space where the plug wires go on the driver's side is called "the hell hole". I managed to get a set of 8mm through there.
You should see how bad the #8/passenger side is, especially on a ZR-1🤪
@@VetteSource I have an odd shaped socket that helped with the #8 plug - a little.
Yep, that #8 definitely requires some custom hacks to get at it.
